Based on the local fractional calculus, we establish some new generalizations of H\"{o}lder's inequality. By using it, some results on the generalized integral inequality in fractal space are investigated in detail.Comment: 8 page

Hierarchical Latent Semantic Mapping for Automated Topic Generation

Much of information sits in an unprecedented amount of text data. Managing allocation of these large scale text data is an important problem for many areas. Topic modeling performs well in this problem. The traditional generative models (PLSA,LDA) are the state-of-the-art approaches in topic modeling and most recent research on topic generation has been focusing on improving or extending these models. However, results of traditional generative models are sensitive to the number of topics K, which must be specified manually. The problem of generating topics from corpus resembles community detection in networks. Many effective algorithms can automatically detect communities from networks without a manually specified number of the communities. Inspired by these algorithms, in this paper, we propose a novel method named Hierarchical Latent Semantic Mapping (HLSM), which automatically generates topics from corpus. HLSM calculates the association between each pair of words in the latent topic space, then constructs a unipartite network of words with this association and hierarchically generates topics from this network. We apply HLSM to several document collections and the experimental comparisons against several state-of-the-art approaches demonstrate the promising performance.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures, Under Review as a conference at ICLR 201

Modeling and Improving the Energy Performance of GPS Receivers for Mobile Applications

Integrated GPS receivers have become a basic module in today's mobile devices. While serving as the cornerstone for location based services, GPS modules have a serious battery drain problem due to high computation load. This paper aims to reveal the impact of key software parameters on hardware energy consumption, by establishing an energy model for a standard GPS receiver architecture as found in both academic and industrial designs. In particular, our measurements show that the receiver's energy consumption is in large part linear with the number of tracked satellites. This leads to a design of selective tracking algorithm that provides similar positioning accuracy (around 12m) with a subset of selected satellites, which translates to an energy saving of 20.9-23.1\% on the Namuru board

Increase of entanglement by local PT -symmetric operations

Entanglement plays a central role in the field of quantum information science. It is well known that the degree of entanglement cannot be increased under local operations. Here, we show that the concurrence of a bipartite entangled state can be increased under the local PT -symmetric operation. This violates the property of entanglement monotonicity. We also use the Bell-CHSH and steering inequalities to explore this phenomenon.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, to appear in PRA (2014

Thermodynamic description of non-Markovian information flux of nonequilibrium open quantum systems

One of the fundamental issues in the field of open quantum systems is the classification and quantification of non-Markovianity. In the contest of quantity-based measures of non-Markovianity, the intuition of non-Markovianity in terms of information backflow is widely discussed. However, it is not easy to characterize the information flux for a given system state and show its connection to non-Markovianity. Here, by using the concepts from thermodynamics and information theory, we discuss a potential definition of information flux of an open quantum system, valid for static environments. We present a simple protocol to show how a system attempts to share information with its environment and how it builds up system-environment correlations. We also show that the information returned from the correlations characterizes the non-Markovianity and a hierarchy of indivisibility of the system dynamics.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figure

Excited Binomial States and Excited Negative Binomial States of the Radiation Field and Some of their Statistical Properties

We introduce excited binomial states and excited negative binomial states of the radiation field by repeated application of the photon creation operator on binomial states and negative binomial states. They reduce to Fock states and excited coherent states in certain limits and can be viewed as intermediate states between Fock states and coherent states. We find that both the excited binomial states and excited negative binomial states can be exactly normalized in terms of hypergeometric functions. Base on this interesting character, some of the statistical properties are discussed.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure

Statistical Properties and Algebraic Characteristics of Quantum Superpositions of Negative Binomial States

We introduce new kinds of states of quantized radiation fields, which are the superpositions of negative binomial states. They exhibit remarkable non-classical properties and reduce to Schr\"odinger cat states in a certain limit. The algebras involved in the even and odd negative binomial states turn out to be generally deformed oscillator algebras. It is found that the even and odd negative binomial states satisfy a same eigenvalue equation with a same eigenvalue and they can be viewed as two-photon nonlinear coherent states. Two methods of generating such states are proposed.Comment: 11 pages and 2 figure

Effective Potential of λϕ1+34\lambda\phi^{4}_{1+3} at Zero and Finite Temperature

The effective potential of λϕ1+34\lambda\phi^4_{1+3} model with both sign of parameter m2m^2 is evaluated at T=0 by means of a simple but effective method for regularization and renormalization. Then at T≠0T\ne 0, the effective potential is evaluated in imaginary time Green Function approach, using the Plana formula. A critical temperature for restoration of symmetry breaking in the standard model of particle physics is estimated to be Tc≃510T_c\simeq 510 GeV.Comment: 16 pages, no figure
