Structural Evaluation of Zeolite Imidazolate Framework 8 (ZIF-8) Nanoparticles as Adsorbent for Carbon Dioxide Removal
Zeolitic imidazole frameworks-8 (ZIF-8) is a class of metal-organic frameworks
(MOFs) which is linked by imidazolate anion into tetrahedral frameworks, zeolitelike
topologies. This material has been discovered as a promising candidate for
carbon dioxide (CO2) capture due to its excellent properties including large
intracrystallite surface area and chemical and thermal stabilities. Hence, this research
project is focuses on the synthesis of ZIF-8 with varies particles size by monitoring
synthesis duration, concentration (molar ratios) and pH of the synthesis solution. The
resulting particles were characterized using variety of analytical tools such as X-ray
diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and Brunauer–Emmett–
Teller (BET) surface area analyzer. The samples were further tested for CO2
adsorptionc by using BELSORP physisorption analyzer
