Perceptions of the Impact Mathematics Support Classes Have on Student Achievement
Many students today struggle with mastering grade-level mathematics standards. School leaders have implemented mathematics support classes as a possible solution; however, not all students are showing significant improvement. The challenge is determining an effective mathematics support class that has the most positive impact on student achievement. As a result, the purpose of this research study was to examine the perceptions of principals, mathematics teachers, and mathematics support teachers on the impact mathematics support classes had on student achievement. This study employed a qualitative case study research design that consisted of one overarching research question and three sub-research questions that framed this research study that sought to uncover best practices within the mathematics support class, barriers within the mathematics support class, and ways in which the mathematics support class could be improved. Interview data were obtained from middle school personnel consisting of three triads of principals, mathematics teachers, and mathematics support teachers, with a total of nine participants, in a suburban public-school system in the state of Georgia during the Spring of 2020.
The findings of this study provided insight of the perceptions of middle school educators on the impact mathematics support classes had on student achievement. Descriptive data analysis was conducted to determine commonalities and provide recommendations regarding mathematics support classes in order to increase student achievement in mathematics. As a result, the analysis of data uncovered six overarching themes: best practices identified were implemented instructional strategies; barriers included lack of students’ cognitive ability and skills, lack of educator’s subject and pedagogical knowledge, and conditions of the class; and, improvements consisted of structure of the class and recommended instructional strategies. It can be concluded that the implementation of the mathematics support class was not as impactful as expected due to the myriad of barriers that exist. While there was not a mathematics support class that was deemed effective, the findings expressed a need to re-evaluate the current mathematics support class and make adjustments to meet the needs of the students to increase student achievement
The repeatability of cow performance in beef cattle
The repeatability of a character has been defined as the degree of likeness of repeated records. This degree of likeness is the correlation between records of the same animal. The characteristics investigated in this study for their repeatability were the birth weight, adjusted daily gain from birth to weaning and type grade of offspring.
The earliest age at which low producing cows can be identified and culled from the herd is of the utmost importance to the breeder of beef cattle. If it can be determined with some degree of confidence that the average cow will repeat her calf performance each year, then this information would be very useful in deciding which cows might be culled at an earlier age than might otherwise be possible.
The majority of repeatability estimates have been obtained in studies with western range Hereford cattle; however, the reported observations in range herds are in fairly close agreement with the estimates thus far reported for general farm herds. Difference may be attributed to herd management, culling practices, climatic conditions and grazing facilities.
Visual appraisal of cattle with respect to type and quality have a definite place in the selection of replacement individuals but should be considered along with the ability of animals to produce repeatedly and the record of their offspring.
It Is hoped that the results of this study will be helpful in indicating the average repeatability of these performance characteristics in beef cattle

The Indirect Implication of SARS-CoV-2 Resulting in Kayexalate Toxicity in a Patient with Acute Kidney Injury
The clinical features of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are variable, but the majority of patients experience mild flu-like symptoms. The cases of severe disease include complications such as progressive pneumonia, acute kidney injury (AKI), multi-organ failure, and even death. This paper explores the association between COVID-19 and its effect on multiple organ systems and how the subsequent treatment of this dis-ease can itself lead to morbidity and mortality. We present a case that emphasizes the life-threatening gastrointestinal complications associated with the treatment of AKI in a patient with COVID-19. We conclude that the patients whose treatment regimens utilize medical resins should be closely monitored for gastrointestinal complications so as to mitigate the known adverse effects associated with these drugs, such as colonic mucosal ulceration, perforation, or even death
Antenna-coupled Infrared And Millimeter-wave Detectors: Fabrication, Measurement And Optimization
Antenna-coupled detectors provide uncooled, cost-effective solutions for infrared and millimeter-wave imaging. This work describes the design, fabrication, measurement, and optimization of several types of antenna-coupled detectors for LWIR (8 - 12 µm) and 94 GHz radiation. Two types of millimeter-wave antenna-coupled detectors were fabricated and tested: a slot antenna coupled to a bolometer, and a patch antenna coupled to a SiC Schottky diode. Electromagnetic modeling of the antennas helped guide the design of antennas with better impedance matching to the detectors. Schottky diodes are discussed as detectors for millimeter-wave and infrared radiation, with the goal of increasing the cutoff frequency to allow infrared detection. The magnitude of response of antenna-coupled bolometric detectors to infrared radiation is affected by the thermal-conduction properties of the sensor structure. Two fabrication processes were developed to improve the thermal isolation of the antenna-coupled bolometer from its substrate. The first process creates a membrane beneath the device. Measured results show a factor of 100 increase in responsivity over an identical device without a membrane. The second process thermally isolates the device from its substrate by suspending the metallic structure in air. Several factors for optimization of infrared antenna-coupled detectors are investigated. The complex dielectric function of the metal from which the antenna is constructed can affect the performance of the device. The use of a ground plane and dielectric standoff layer beneath the antenna can increase the sensor responsivity. Dielectric material properties and thicknesses are considered, and incorporated in device simulations. Finally, a potential fabrication process is presented for via connections from the antenna-coupled detector through a ground plane to bond pads to mitigate the effect of bias lines on antenna behavior

Success-Striving and Failure-Avoidant Aspiration Patterns of Institutionalized Mental Retardates
The design of this experiment was developed to investigate the presence of success-striving and failure-avoidant motivational patterns in the level of aspiration behavior of retarded subjects. The primary objective of this study is to show that success-strivers are present in mentally retarded groups, even if in the minority
