    Occurrence and morphotaxonomy of macrobenthic algae at an intertidal zone in Talin Bay, Batangas

    The macrobenthic algae from Talin Bay, Batangas were collected, preserved, identified and morphologically classified. Of the eighteen species of marine macrobenthic algae, four belong to Class Chlorophyta Enteromorpha intestinales, Halimeda opuntia, Halimeda tuna, Caulerpa racemosa. Seven to Class Phaeophyta Turbinaria orinata, Dictyota dentata, Sargassum ilicifolium, Sargassum cristaefolium, Sargassum myriocystum, Padina australis, Hormophysa triquetra. And another seven to Class Rhodophyta Amphiroa fragilissima, Amphiroa foliaceae, Laurencia intermedia, Acanthophora specifera, Halymenia durvillaei, Portiera hornemannii, Hypnea charoides. The most abundant species was Halimeda opuntia with a percent relative abundance of 25.64 percent and the most uniformly distributed species was Padina australis with a percent frequency of 66.67 percent
