The Saint that dances : a corporal living from the axis co-inhabiting with the source of the BPI : Bailarino-Pesquisador-Intérprete (\"Dancer - Researcher - Interpreter\") Method
O co-habitar com a fonte potencializa a expressividade e a originalidade do bailarino pesquisador-intérprete iniciadas no eixo inventário no corpo (fase introdutória do BPI)Abstract: This study is mainly aimed at going deeply into the co-inhabiting axis with the source of the BPI: Bailarino-Pesquisador-Intérprete (Dancer-Researcher-Interpreter) method, from the author's field research with Saint Gonçalo's Dance devotees from Ponte Nova de Munhoz - MG rural district and with the ones from Fazenda Grande de Pouso Alegre - MG. The method that will be used is BPI, created by professor Graziela Rodrigues from Instituto de Artes (IA) of Unicamp. It is a dance research and creation method that has three fundamental axis that are interconnected: the inventory in the body, co-inhabiting with the source and the character's structuring. Co-inhabiting with the source is the axis in which the dancer-researcher-interpreters experiences core is performed through the field research. The dancer-researcher-interpreter co-inhabits when he interacts with the other one (the researched) 'until he feels part of that investigated landscape'. Co-inhabiting still comprehends theoretical and practical analysis of what has been researched (about the movements, the senses and landscapes-scenery, among other elements), lab sessions and going deeply into inventory in the dancer-researcher-interpreter's body. For one year and a half, the author co-inhabited with the devotees in her everyday life (the grape harvest, making of the wine, etc) and in her sacred (Saint Gonçalo's Dance). As from the lab sessions, she prepared a practical summary, 'a guide of images, movements and senses', which was presented to the ones that were investigated in a landscape-scenery of co-inhabiting (at the shed where Saint Gonçalo's Dance is performed in Pouso Alegre - MG). After going through that, she drew several conclusions which have confirmed the characteristics of the co-inhabiting axis and the BPI method. Co-inhabiting with the source enhances the dancer-researcher-interpreter's expressiveness and originality which were started in the inventory in the body axis (BPI introductory stage)MestradoArtesMestre em Arte
Predictors of adherence and persistence to disease-modifying therapies in Multiple Sclerosis
In multiple sclerosis (MS), non-adherence/non-persistence is related to suboptimal response to treatment, including disease relapses and the need for more expensive healthcare. The aim of this study was to identify predictors related to adherence to disease modifying therapies (DMTs) in a cohort of Argentinian MS patients.
Methods:
We conducted a cross-sectional study at the National Medical Care Program from Argentina. MS patients with at least one claim for a DMT from 1 January 2017 to 1 October 2017 were identified. A telephone survey was performed to assess clinical and demographic factors. The medication possession ratio (MPR) was used to estimate adherence; MPR <80% defined non-adherence. Associations were studied using a logistic regression model.
Results:
Our database included 648 MS patients. A total of 360 patients (60% females, mean age 55.3 years) accepted to participate. Of these, 308 (85.5%) patients were receiving DMT at the time of the survey. Some 198 (63.7%) were receiving injectable therapies. Optimal adherence was 47.7%. Adherence was associated with oral medication [odds ratio (OR) 1.83 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.13–3.00, p = 0.014]. A factor related to oral drugs was higher educational level (OR 2.86 95%CI 1.41–5.81, p = 0.004).
Conclusion:
This real-world study showed better adherence and persistence on treatment with oral therapies in MS patients in Argentina. The authors disclosed receipt of the following financial support for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article: GZ disclosed receipt of the following financial support for the research, authorship and/or publication of this article: this study was supported by a research grant awarded by the Florencio Fiorini Foundation. Endophytic Bacteria Affect Sugarcane Physiology Without Changing Plant Growth
Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq)The aim of this study was to evaluate if endophytic bacteria inoculants would be beneficial to the sugarcane varieties IACSP94-2094 and IACSP95-5000, promoting changes in photosynthesis and plant growth. The plants, obtained from mini stalks with one bud, were treated with two bacteria mixtures (inoculum I or II) or did not receive any inoculum (control plants). The inocula did not affect shoot and root dry matter accumulation as compared to the control condition (plants with native endophytic bacteria). However, photosynthesis and electron transport rate (ETR) increased in IACSP94-2094 treated with the inoculum II, whereas the inoculum I enhanced photosynthesis and stomatal conductance in IACSP95-5000. The inoculum II caused increase in leaf sucrose concentration of IACSP94-2094 and decrease in IACSP95-5000 leaves. Leaf nitrogen concentration was not affected by treatments, but bacteria inoculation increased nitrate reductase activity in IACSP95-5000, and the highest activity was found in plants treated with the inoculum II. We can conclude that bacteria inoculation changed sugarcane physiology, improving photosynthesis and nitrate reduction in a genotype-dependent manner, without promoting plant growth under non-limiting conditions.75119Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP, Brazil) through the Bioen Program [Proc. 2008/57495-3, 2008/56147-1]National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq, Brazil)Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq
Progression to degenerative dementia in mild cognitive impairment patients: a cohort study
Background: Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is a controversial clinical entity, conceptualized as a transitional zone between normal aging and dementia. Socio-demographic and genetic factors have been involved in the development of cognitive impairment and its progression to dementia. The aim of the present study is to describe the rate of conversion to dementia in a cohort of patients with mild cognitive impairment.Method: Design Prospective cohort. Setting: A cohort of subjects with MCI was assessed and followed for three years (2013-2015) in a private institution dedicated to neurology. Participants: Patients with cognitive complaints over 60 years old who consulted spontaneously and met the MCI criteria without commitment in activities of daily living, were included consecutively and followed up annually for 3 years. Variables: Dementia and MCI were defined according to DSM IV criteria. Statistical methods we describe conversion rate as a proportion with confidence interval (CI) 95%. Bivariate analysis was performed between dementia and sociodemographic predictors and Odds Ratio and CI was calculatedResults: We include 82 subjects with MCI (age: 76.6±6.9 years, 67% women, education: 11.5±3.7 years) 4 participants were lost to follow-up. The conversion rate to dementia was 14.1% (CI95% 7.7 to 23.2) In the bivariate analysis we compared the median baseline IQ of the patients who developed dementia (97; IQR 89-103) and those who did not (93; IQR 85-95) and we obtained a significant difference with a p = 0.040Conclusions: The conversion rate to dementia in this Latin American population is coincident with studies conducted in other populations. A larger sample size is required to establish the possible predictors of conversion to dementia. Background: Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is a controversial clinical entity, conceptualized as a transitional zone between normal aging and dementia. M&M - MONNOM meets MOBEYBOU: digital interfaces for children's embodied interaction
We present M&M, a digitally enhanced narrative environment for children that resulted from the collaborative projects Monnom and Mobeybou. M&M aims at offering children open-ended interaction scenarios to collaboratively create narratives through their bodily movements, voices, and the use of physical objects in space. M&M consists of sensors that collect data from the physical environment, an operating system that transforms the collected data into digital visualisations, and a projection that displays the output of the narration. In the physical environment, children can use objects and move with them to interact with the digital narrative elements. By interacting with the story elements, children connect with different cultures and environments, in an intercultural embodied storytelling experience. This project has been in part supported by TUBITAK Department
of Technology and Innovation Support Programs (Project Number: 2210750). We would like to thank the children who participated in our study and their parents. This work has been in supported by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), reference PTDC/CED-EDG/0736/2021 - and by the
