Investigations of the pi N total cross sections at high energies using new FESR: log nu or (log nu)^2

We propose to use rich informations on pi p total cross sections below N= 10 GeV in addition to high-energy data in order to discriminate whether these cross sections increase like log nu or (log nu)^2 at high energies, since it is difficult to discriminate between asymptotic log nu and (log nu)^2 fits from high-energy data alone. A finite-energy sum rule (FESR) which is derived in the spirit of the P' sum rule as well as the n=1 moment FESR have been required to constrain the high-energy parameters. We then searched for the best fit of pi p total cross sections above 70 GeV in terms of high-energy parameters constrained by these two FESR. We can show from this analysis that the (log nu)^2 behaviours is preferred to the log nu behaviours.Comment: to be published in Phys. Rev. D 5 pages, 2 eps figure

Analytic Procedures: A Holdback-vetting Forecasting Model

Introduction: Forecasting is now a best practices requirement for PCAOB audits. This is clear from AS 5 where Analytic Procedures are now a part of the Planning and Substantive Phases of the certification audits. In this regard, we are encouraged by the “On the Go Stores” AP case offered by the AICPA, and have extended their case illustration of AP treatments.Study Précis: In our presentation, we initially consider the OLS Regression model utilized in the AICPA case and offer a vetting protocol to rationalize the use of this forecasting model in the AP phases. Then we move to a disposition analysis stage where the forecast information is posed in relief to the actual client value so as to ascertain if Extended Procedure investigations would be warranted. Results: We offer three Confidence Intervals drawn from the OLS modeling system that are formed from the Fixed Effect, Random Effects, and finally the Excel Platform for the 95% CI parameter set.Impact: The protocol set is programmed in an open-access VBA Decision Support System which is available free as a download with no restriction on its use

The 1992 Iowa Corn Yield Test Report, District 1

    Get PDF
Results of the Iowa Corn Yield Test are published to aid Iowa farmers in selecting corn hybrids. This is the seventy-third consecutive year for the test. Data from these tests are available in three different formats. These data are first released on Iowa State University Extension\u27s computer communication network (EXNET) usually around Thanksgiving and are available at county extension offices. Anyone can subscribe to EXNET at a cost of $25 per year, and receive the data as soon as they are released. All that is required is a computer, a modem, and the cost of the telephone call. For additional information contact EXNET, 108 Atanasoff Hall, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa 50011, telephone number 515/ 294-865
