O papel das zonas de amortecimento na efetividade da proteção ambiental da Floresta Nacional de Palmares, Piauí, Brasil
The research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the buffer zones (BZ) as legal instruments of protection, around the protected areas of the National Forest (Flona) of Palmares in the role of environmental protection. The research was carried out at Flona de Palmares, located in the municipality of Altos – PI state. Bibliographic surveys were carried out and, mainly the Environmental Legislation and technical and scientific dissemination material were used. A map was created using Qgis geoprocessing software to delimit the zone of Flona and the mapping of urban expansion was done through observation of satellite images. Although Flona is a considerable distance from urban densities, it is under pressure from rural properties and communities that have been growing over the years in its surroundings, which represents a direct threat to the Conservation Unit (CU). The progress of these areas towards CU is a risk factor to be considered. There are conflicts with enterprises bordering CU and, in addition, the lack of an efficient management plan and its application, these are some of the problems identified and that hinder the effectiveness of the BZ at Flona de Palmares.A pesquisa teve como objetivo avaliar a efetividade das zonas de amortecimento (ZA) enquanto instrumentos legais de proteção, no entorno das áreas protegidas da Floresta Nacional (Flona) de Palmares no papel da proteção ambiental. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida na Flona de Palmares, localizada no município de Altos – estado do Piauí. Foram realizados levantamentos bibliográficos, e utilizou-se, principalmente, a Legislação Ambiental e material de divulgação técnica e científica. Elaborou-se um mapa utilizando software de geoprocessamento Qgis para delimitar a ZA da Flona, e o mapeamento da expansão urbana foi feito por meio de observação de imagens de satélite. Embora a Flona esteja a uma distância considerável de adensamentos urbanos, ela é pressionada pelas propriedades e comunidades rurais que vem crescendo ao longo dos anos em seu entorno, o que representa uma ameaça direta à Unidade de Conservação (UC). O avanço dessas áreas em direção à UC configura fator de risco a ser considerado. Existem conflitos com os empreendimentos limítrofes à UC, e, ademais, carência de um plano de manejo eficiente e de sua aplicação, esses são alguns dos problemas identificados e que dificultam a efetividade da ZA da Flona de Palmares

Biodiversity loss is one of the main challenges of our time,1,2 and attempts to address it require a clear un derstanding of how ecological communities respond to environmental change across time and space.3,4
While the increasing availability of global databases on ecological communities has advanced our knowledge
of biodiversity sensitivity to environmental changes,5–7 vast areas of the tropics remain understudied.8–11 In
the American tropics, Amazonia stands out as the world’s most diverse rainforest and the primary source of
Neotropical biodiversity,12 but it remains among the least known forests in America and is often underrepre sented in biodiversity databases.13–15 To worsen this situation, human-induced modifications16,17 may elim inate pieces of the Amazon’s biodiversity puzzle before we can use them to understand how ecological com munities are responding. To increase generalization and applicability of biodiversity knowledge,18,19 it is thus
crucial to reduce biases in ecological research, particularly in regions projected to face the most pronounced
environmental changes. We integrate ecological community metadata of 7,694 sampling sites for multiple or ganism groups in a machine learning model framework to map the research probability across the Brazilian
Amazonia, while identifying the region’s vulnerability to environmental change. 15%–18% of the most ne glected areas in ecological research are expected to experience severe climate or land use changes by
2050. This means that unless we take immediate action, we will not be able to establish their current status,

Síndrome do coração Pós-feriado: pacientes acometidos por arritmia cardíaca em detrimento do consumo exagerado de álcool: Post Holiday coração Syndrome: patients suffered by cardiac arrhythmia to the detriment of exaggerated alcohol consumption
INTRODUÇÃO: O álcool é conhecido por beneficiar o sistema cardiovascular com a ativação do sistema fibrinolítico, redução da agregação de plaquetas e aperfeiçoamento do perfil lipídico, entre outros mecanismos, quando consumido em doses moderadas. Todavia, seu uso de maneira abusiva culmina em patologias graves que podem evoluir para a morte, como a hipertensão arterial, a cardiomiopatia alcoólica, a arritmia cardíaca e até a “Síndrome do Coração Pós Feriado” ou do inglês, “Holiday Heart Syndrome”. OBJETIVOS: O presente estudo tem como objetivo delinear sobre a Síndrome do Coração Pós Feriado, transpassando por suas características clínicas, repercussões eletrofisiológicas, diagnóstico e manejo terapêutico. MATERIAIS E MÉTODOS: Dessa forma, o presente trabalho realizou uma revisão sistemática qualitativa, realizado no período entre julho e agosto de 2022, através de artigos das bases de dados Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e United States National Library of Medicine (PubMed). RESULTADOS E DISCUSSÃO: A interação do álcool no organismo está diretamente relacionada com o sistema nervoso autônomo do indivíduo, gerando um estado de desequilíbrio autonômico, assim há alterações elétricas, como acréscimo da frequência cardíaca, gerando um estado de taquicardia. A principal patologia encontrada em questão foi a taquicardia sinusal, sendo um tipo de arritmia e por conseguinte, notou-se a presença da fibrilação atrial, sendo o excesso no consumo de etanol é causador de aproximadamente 67% dos casos de emergências desta última enfermidade. CONCLUSÃO: Portanto, com base na literatura analisada, observou-se que a ingestão alcoólica aguda age retardando o sistema de condução cardíaco, atua no encurtamento do período refratário e o aumento da atividade simpática, além de aumentar os níveis de catecolaminas circulantes. Por fim, também se evidenciou uma associação entre álcool e fatores de risco, principalmente hipertensão e obesidade e essas patologias aumentam os episódios de fibrilação atrial
Os principais tipos e manifestações da Cirrose Hepática: uma atualização clínica
Introdução: A cirrose hepática é um processo patológica crônico, considerado a hepatopatia mais comum, definido como a conversão difusa morfoestrutural por nódulos de arquitetura anômalo envoltos por fibrose. Objetivou-se descrever os tipos mais relevantes de cirrose e suas devidas manifestações. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão bibliográfica, fundamentada nas plataformas do SciELO, PubMed, Scopus, utilizando os termos “hepatical cirrhosis”, “liver disease” e “hepatocellular insufficiency” a qual através da revisão narrativa, abordou amplamente a respeito da contextualização da cirrose e as principais etiologias. Resultados e Discussão: Foi analisado que tal condição afeta qualquer faixa etária, sexo, etnia e independe da classe socioeconômica, mas as diversas etiologias impõem um perfil epidemiológico específico conforme a aparição. As principais origens abordam o tipo alcoólico, hepatite, aplicação crônica de alguns fármacos e esteatose gordurosa ou não. Ademais, estima-se que estas afetam a anatomofuncionalidade do órgão responsável por grande parte da homeostase, culminando em diversas manifestações clínicas. Conclusão: A cirrose é uma consequência grave de fatores de base em estágio avançado, a qual devido ao seu curso geralmente silencioso culmina no desenvolvimento e progressão clínica. Neste contexto, a atenção aos fatores predisponentes como alimentação rica em lipídios, estilismo, negligência a exames de rotina, sedentarismo e obesidade contribuem constituem medidas eficazes de prevenção primária.

Validation of an immunoperoxidase monolayer assay for total anti-'Vaccinia virus' antibody titration
'Vaccinia virus' (VACV) has been associated with zoonotic exanthemic outbreaks affecting bovids and human beings, with significant public health and economic impacts. Rapid and reliable diagnostic methods are needed to detect and epidemiologically monitor antibodies to VACV. The current study describes the development of an immunoperoxidase monolayer assay (IPMA) for detection of total VACV antibodies in bovine serum. The assay was validated by comparison with a plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT). Kappa index of agreement, diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the IPMA were -1.008, 100%, 96%, and 98%, respectively, when compared with PRNT on 148 field bovine sera. Repeatability tests on 32 field-positive serum samples revealed that intraclass coefficient correlation was 0.86. In experimentally infected cattle, VACV antibodies were detectable by IPMA 4 days postinfection, which was more than 2 weeks earlier than with the PRNT, indicating that IPMA could be a more sensitive test than the latter. In 4 naturally VACV-diseased cows monitored for 13 months, IPMA could detect VACV antibodies up to 13 months, a longer time than PRNT. The IPMA is simpler to produce and perform when compared with PRNT and is time saving and suitable for large-scale surveys of VACV infection in bovine
Overview of Synthetic Cannabinoids ADB-FUBINACA and AMB-FUBINACA: Clinical, Analytical, and Forensic Implications
ADB-FUBINACA and AMB-FUBINACA are two synthetic indazole-derived cannabinoid receptor agonists, up to 140- and 85-fold more potent, respectively, than trans-∆9-tetrahydrocannabinol (∆9-THC), the main psychoactive compound of cannabis. Synthesised in 2009 as a pharmaceutical drug candidate, the recreational use of ADB-FUBINACA was first reported in 2013 in Japan, with fatal cases being described in 2015. ADB-FUBINACA is one of the most apprehended and consumed synthetic cannabinoid (SC), following AMB-FUBINACA, which emerged in 2014 as a drug of abuse and has since been responsible for several intoxication and death outbreaks. Here, we critically review the physicochemical properties, detection methods, prevalence, biological effects, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of both drugs. When smoked, these SCs produce almost immediate effects (about 10 to 15 s after use) that last up to 60 min. They are rapidly and extensively metabolised, being the O-demethylated metabolite of AMB-FUBINACA, 2-(1-(4-fluorobenzyl)-1H-indazole-3-carboxamide)-3-methylbutanoic acid, the main excreted in urine, while for ADB-FUBINACA the main biomarkers are the hydroxdimethylpropyl ADB-FUBINACA, hydroxydehydrodimethylpropyl ADB-FUBINACA and hydroxylindazole ADB-FUBINACA. ADB-FUBINACA and AMB-FUBINACA display full agonism of the CB1 receptor, this being responsible for their cardiovascular and neurological effects (e.g., altered perception, agitation, anxiety, paranoia, hallucinations, loss of consciousness and memory, chest pain, hypertension, tachycardia, seizures). This review highlights the urgent requirement for additional studies on the toxicokinetic properties of AMB-FUBINACA and ADB-FUBINACA, as this is imperative to improve the methods for detecting and quantifying these drugs and to determine the best exposure markers in the various biological matrices. Furthermore, it stresses the need for clinicians and pathologists involved in the management of these intoxications to describe their findings in the scientific literature, thus assisting in the risk assessment and treatment of the harmful effects of these drugs in future medical and forensic investigations
Immunological Profile of HTLV-1-Infected Patients Associated with Infectious or Autoimmune Dermatological Disorders
<div><p>In the present study, the frequency, the activation and the cytokine and chemokine profile of HTLV-1 carriers with or without dermatological lesions were thoroughly described and compared. The results indicated that HTLV-1-infected patients with dermatological lesions have distinct frequency and activation status when compared to asymptomatic carriers. Alterations in the CD4<sup>+</sup>HLA-DR<sup>+</sup>, CD8<sup>+</sup> T cell, macrophage-like and NKT subsets as well as in the serum chemokines CCL5, CXCL8, CXCL9 and CXCL10 were observed in the HTLV-1-infected group with skin lesions. Additionally, HTLV-1 carriers with dermatological skin lesions showed more frequently high proviral load as compared to asymptomatic carriers. The elevated proviral load in HTLV-1 patients with infectious skin lesions correlated significantly with TNF-α/IL-10 ratio, while the same significant correlation was found for the IL-12/IL-10 ratio and the high proviral load in HTLV-1-infected patients with autoimmune skin lesions. All in all, these results suggest a distinct and unique immunological profile in the peripheral blood of HTLV-1-infected patients with skin disorders, and the different nature of skin lesion observed in these patients may be an outcome of a distinct unbalance of the systemic inflammatory response upon HTLV-1 infection.</p></div
