Disinformation in Facebook Ads in the 2019 Spanish General Election Campaigns
As fake news elicits an emotional response from users, whose attention is then monetised, political advertising has a significant influence on its production and dissemination. Facebook ads, therefore, have an essential role in contemporary political communication, not only because of their extensive use in international political campaigns, but also because they address intriguing questions about the regulation of disinformation on social networking sites. This research employs a corpus of 14,684 Facebook ads published by the major national political parties during their campaigns leading up to the two Spanish general elections held in 2019. A manual content analysis was performed on all the visually identical ads so as to identify those containing disinformation and those denouncing it. The topics addressed in these ads were then examined. The results show that the political parties' Facebook ad strategies were akin to those of conventional advertising. Disinformation messages were infrequent and mainly posted by Ciudadanos and VOX. Nonetheless, it is striking that the main topic addressed in the ads was the unity of Spain¿precisely the issue of Catalonia's independence. In light of this, it can be deduced that 'traditional' parties are taking longer to renounce classical forms of campaigning than their 'new' counterparts, thus demonstrating that the actors implementing disinformation strategies are not only restricted to the extreme right of the ideological spectrum
Simulation of a biorefinery process as learning tool in chemical engineering degree
Currently, the search for alternative biomass to be used as renewable sources for energy production is one of the most important challenges to achieve a sustainable growth based on a bioeconomy strategy (Mendes et al., 2009). In this context, lignocellulosic waste are a renewable, clean, inexpensive and with high availability for the manufacture of biofuels. In this sense, the main objective of this study was the simulation and design of engineering processes that allows the valorization of lignocellulosic waste and the obtaining of biofuels as alternative to fossil fuels. This goal implies the practical application of the theoretical knowledge acquired by the student during the chemical engineering degree. Specifically, the students designed and simulated a biorefinery process that consisted of a Kraft pulping process as starting point of two main lines of production: (1) Process I: production of bioethanol and (2) Process II: direct and indirect production of dimethylether (DME), both from lignocellulosic biomass (Fig.1). Two commercial simulation packages, ASPEN HYSYS® and UNISIM were used to simulate the production of dimethylether and bioethanol, respectively.
The first step was determining a strategic situation for the installation of the biorefinery. The central area of Andalusia (between the municipalities of Lucena and Antequera) was considered the most adequate area to develop the installation of the biorefinery plant after evaluating the biomass available inside of 100 kms of distance around this place. Specifically, different biomass mixtures were considered in order to ensure the viability of a constant inlet flow of biomass in the biorefinery. In function of this inlet flow of biomass, the installations were designed and dimensioned in each stage of the process. The student carried out a wide revision of state of the art to decide the most adequate processes among different alternatives to obtain dimethylether and bioethanol. The different stages selected as the most adequate in each line of the process can be observed in Fig.1. Moreover, the students evaluated the different alternatives for the valorisation and optimization of the by-products generated in each stage of the process in order to minimize the consuming of chemical compounds and energy requirements. Therefore, the students learnt to develop a real engineering process more sustainable and friendly with the environment.
To sum up, the used of programs to simulate the transformation of lignocellulosic biomass in biofuels, such as, bioethanol or dimethylether, which is a process with several social, environmental and economic advantages, was an interesting learning tool for students of chemical engineering degree.

Deformational behaviours of alluvial units detected by advanced radar interferometry in the Vega Media of the Segura River, southeast Spain
It is widely known that differential land subsidence in a valley significantly controls its fluvial dynamics. Nevertheless, major uncertainty exists about the way in which alluvial forms respond to this process. In this study, morphological and lithostratigraphic data have been combined with advanced differential interferometry (A-DInSAR) to detect changes in alluvial landform elevations and to verify the existence of a differential subsidence pattern influenced by active sedimentary dynamics. For this purpose, the middle reach of the Segura River valley (Vega Media of the Segura River), in southeast Spain, was chosen as the study area. The Vega Media of the Segura River is an alluvial area affected by subsidence processes in close conjunction with depositional conditions, ground-water withdrawals and faults. A high scale mapping of the main younger sedimentary units was carried out by combining multi-temporal aerial photographs, high-resolution digital elevation models derived from LIDAR data, global navigation satellite system data and fieldwork. In addition, lithostratigraphic descriptions were obtained from geotechnical drilling and trenching. Finally, ground surface displacements, measured using A-DInSAR for the periods 1995–2005 and 2004–2008, allowed the determination of elevation rates and ground deformation associated with the different alluvial units. The results from this analysis revealed four typical deformational behaviours: non-deformational units (cemented alluvial fans and upper fluvial terraces); slightly deformable units (lower terraces and old abandoned meanders); moderately deformable units (lateral accretion zones and abandoned meanders before channelisation in 1981); and highly deformable areas (recently active meanders associated with artificial cutoffs by channelisation, non-active floodplains and spilling zones). This work has been supported by project 15224/PI/10 (Dynamics and recent morphological adjustments in the Lower Segura River, Middle Valley) from the Fundación SENECA of the Regional Agency of Science, Murcia, Spain, and the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) and EU FEDER, under Projects TEC2011-28201-C02-02, TIN2014-55413-C2-2-P, ESP2013-47780-C2-2-R and PRX14/00100. The Spanish Infrared Camera onboard the EUSO-BALLOON (CNES) flight on August 24, 2014
The EUSO-Balloon (CNES) campaign was held during Summer 2014 with a launch on August
24. In the gondola, next to the Photo Detector Module (PDM), a completely isolated Infrared
camera was allocated. Also, a helicopter which shooted flashers flew below the balloon. We have
retrieved the Cloud Top Height (CTH) with the IR camera, and also the optical depth of the nonclear atmosphere have been inferred with two approaches: The first one is with the comparison of the brightness temperature of the cloud and the real temperature obtained after the pertinent
corrections. The second one is by measuring the detected signal from the helicopter flashers by the IR Camera, considering the energy of the flashers and the location of the helicopter
