Methodology for the Calculation of Functional Elements in Warehouses of Public Intermodal Logistics Centers
This article deals with the design of functional elements in the warehouses of public logistics centers. The methodology focuses on the determination of the minimum area required for operating a warehouse, the resulting dimensions and internal organization of the warehouse (especially individual sectors within warehouses) and the calculation of the operational requirements for the handling means to be used in a warehouse
The Optimization of the Intermodal Terminals
This paper deals with the optimization of intermodal terminals. The optimization is discussed in two areas, which are the optimization of transport operations in an intermodal terminal and an optimal location of intermodal terminals on a particular territory (in a particular state)
Human Resource Management across Generations within the Context of World of Work 4.0
The aim of the paper is to evaluate the expectations of cohorts of workers from Generations X, Y, and Z with regards to their perceptions of what a "good workplace" is. Two research questions were formulated accordingly. Respondents representing workers from Generations X, Y, and Z, from Italy and Austria, were asked to consider and rate (on a 1-5 scale) eighteen criteria on work environment and managerial approach. Multi-sample testing was applied during processing with the ANOVA and Shapiro-Wilk and the Kruskal-Wallis test was subsequently used for multi-sample testing. The findings show that the most popular criterion for all three generational cohorts is "good work atmosphere", followed by "all employees are valued, treated, and rewarded fairly". Interestingly, generational differences were observed for "customer orientation", which was more important for Generation X, and "autonomous organization of work (time)", which was more important for Generations Y and Z. The most surprising result was the significance of corporate image, with less than 4% identifying this as an important issue across all three generations. These findings can help human resource managers create appropriate working environments and motivational tools that meet the real expectations of employees. The global health pandemic and its impact on the motivation of employees in micro and small enterprises: a case study in the Slovak Republic
The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively influenced all areas of
human life across the world. Economic downturn is evident in
almost every country. However, the biggest impact has crisis on
micro and small enterprises (MaSEs). As the change of regime and
rhythm of work is coming, the important task of employees in
management is to retain their subordinates in the state of positive
setting and motivation. The aim of the research is to define the
impact of pandemic COVID-19 on the level of employee motivation in MaSEs operating in Slovak Republic. The development of
employee motivation was investigated in three fields, financial,
working and relationship one. A total of 848 respondents were
asked in 2017 to 2020 by means of stratified selection. There was
a significant decrease of preferences of respondents in all investigated motivation factors. Testing confirmed the existence of statistically significant differences during 2020 in comparison with
previous years in investigating the following motivation factors:
basic salary, job security, good working team, communication at
work and superior’s approach. The main contribution of the
research is the finding that pandemic COVID-19 has the influence
except of other impacts also on the area of employee motivation
The Application of Mathematical Methods to the Determination of Transport Flows
This article deals with the basic mathematical methods applied to the determination of the size of traffic flows in an urban area transport network. The methods were applied to the design of a new system of public bus transport in the city of České Budějovice. This article represents the partial outcome of the research carried out by the Institute of Technology and Businesses in České Budějovice
The Application of ABC Analysis to Inventories in the Automatic Industry Utilizing the Cost Saving Effect
The highest levels of management work towards profit maximization, trying to achieve the lowest possible costs and the highest possible revenues. Managers in the automotive industry have the same goal. Nowadays, the automotive industry in Slovakia is based on direct foreign investments. The industry is a key sector and is considered to be the driving force behind the development of the whole economy. ABC Analysis is one of the tools that enable companies to control their costs. It provides detailed information that enables the monitoring of how resources have been utilized within a company. It enables the management to evaluate whether costs correspond with the purpose of their spending. For this research ABC analysis was applied to the conditions within the automotive industry with the aim of utilizing the effect of cost savings. On the basis of the research and statistical calculations a proposal is put forward that enables companies to reduce their costs bound in the inventories. The new system of inventories management will enable company managements to utilize the saved money in another way and to achieve further optimization of the processes
Impact of social environment indicators on students' propensity to do business: Case study from Central European countries
The aim of the article is to identify and quantify the impact of selected social environment indicators on students’ propensity to do business. A survey-based questionnaire was conducted with students in the last year of their economic studies at 25 universities. The database contains 1,352 filled-out questionnaires showing Slovak, Czech and Polish students’ attitudes. A linear regression analysis was used to evaluate the formulated hypotheses. This approach was implemented separately for each country (Czech Republic-CR, Slovakia – SR, and Poland – PL). The results showed several findings. The comparison of social environment indicators’ impact on students’ propensity to do business confirmed common attitudes (significant indicator – support of family environment; not significant indicator – media) of students based on their nationality. The businessperson in a student´s family is the most important social environment indicator according to students’ attitudes for each country. The fact that society generally appreciates business people has a positive impact on Czech and Slovak students´ propensity to do business. Politicians and public perception of entrepreneurs as a social indicator has a negative impact on Czech students´ propensity to do business. The results are important for national and non-profit organizations that help young people to start a business. © Foundation of International Studies, 2021 © CSR, 2021

The Education and Development of Company Managers in the Czech Republic and Ukraine
The education and development of managers is a key component of corporate education policy because managers have a significant influence on overall company performance. The aim of the research set out in this paper was to determine, on the basis of a sample set of 607 companies from the Czech Republic and a sample set of 145 companies from Ukraine, to what extent the education of managers takes place in companies. The companies were divided into four categories according to their size (in terms of number of employees). The assumption was made that the education of managers is most widespread in economically more developed countries where companies have greater financial resources at their disposal and are more willing to invest in the education of their employees, and therefore managers. The hypothesis was therefore put forward that the education of managers is more widespread in the Czech Republic than in Ukraine and that the organization thereof in both countries is directly related to company size (i.e. the larger the company, the more widespread the education of managers). The hypotheses were confirmed
The Model of Austrian Fachhochschulen
One of the burning problems of our higher education is an unresolved question of its diversification. The aim of the thesis was therefore to find a well-functioning foreign sector of higher education institutions of a non-university type, which could become an inspiration for us. Neighbouring Austria was dealing with the question of a non-university higher education sector (the Fachhochschulen sector) at about the same time period, in the early 1990s, as our country and therefore I chose Austrian model although their solution was completely different
