Automated team selection and compliance checking in business processes
Plenty of activities in many business contexts must be performed
collaboratively, e.g., in a hospital or when organising
a conference. Tasks such as team composition and allocation
are usually performed manually and on the ground of
limited criteria such as individual skills, a.o. because adequate
automatic support is missing. This paper addresses
this shortcoming. We present an approach for team selection
and compliance checking in business processes, which
includes (i) a language for describing teams; (ii) a way to de-
ne team selection conditions and policies related to team
composition; and (iii) a mechanism for the automatic resolution
of the team selection conditions and for team-related
compliance checking based on formal ontologies.
Semiconducting Monolayer Materials as a Tunable Platform for Excitonic Solar Cells
The recent advent of two-dimensional monolayer materials with tunable
optoelectronic properties and high carrier mobility offers renewed
opportunities for efficient, ultra-thin excitonic solar cells alternative to
those based on conjugated polymer and small molecule donors. Using
first-principles density functional theory and many-body calculations, we
demonstrate that monolayers of hexagonal BN and graphene (CBN) combined with
commonly used acceptors such as PCBM fullerene or semiconducting carbon
nanotubes can provide excitonic solar cells with tunable absorber gap,
donor-acceptor interface band alignment, and power conversion efficiency, as
well as novel device architectures. For the case of CBN-PCBM devices, we
predict the limit of power conversion efficiencies to be in the 10 - 20% range
depending on the CBN monolayer structure. Our results demonstrate the
possibility of using monolayer materials in tunable, efficient, polymer-free
thin-film solar cells in which unexplored exciton and carrier transport regimes
are at play.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure
Using the guard-stage-milestone notation for monitoring BPMN-based processes
Business processes are usually designed by means of imperative languages to model the acceptable execution of the activities performed within a system or an organization. At the same time, declarative languages are better suited to check the conformance of the states and transitions of the modeled process with respect to its actual execution. To avoid defining models twice from scratch to cope with both the process enactment and its monitoring, this paper proposes an approach for translating BPMN process models to E-GSM ones: an extension of the Guard-Stage-Milestone artifact-centric notation. The paper also shows how a monitoring engine based on E-GSM specifications can detect anomalies during the execution of the process and classify them according to different levels of severity, that is, with respect to the impact on the outcome of the process
Case Report Eradication of Burkholderia cepacia Using Inhaled Aztreonam Lysine in Two Patients with Bronchiectasis
There are not many articles about the chronic bronchial infection/colonization in patients with underlying lung disease other than cystic fibrosis (CF), especially with non-CF bronchiectasis (NCFBQ). The prevalence of B. cepacia complex is not well known in NCFBQ. The vast majority of published clinical data on Burkholderia infection in individuals with CF is comprised of uncontrolled, anecdotal, and/or single center experiences, and no consensus has emerged regarding treatment. We present two cases diagnosed with bronchiectasis (BQ) of different etiology, with early pulmonary infection by B. cepacia complex, which was eradicated with inhaled aztreonam lysine
