Job satisfaction of outreach youth workers in Hong Kong
The promotion of job satisfaction that may lead to staff retention has always been a popular concern for human resources research. The job satisfaction and staff retention of workers in District Youth Outreaching Social Work Teams (YOTs) in Hong Kong are the themes of the present study. Through a literature review, eight facets of job satisfaction, namely Coworker Relationships, Job Complexity and Nature, Promotional Opportunity, Pay and Benefits, Work Environment, Supervision and Leadership, Role and Responsibility, and Recognition, are identified and measured among the frontline staff of the YOTs through pre-set self-administered mailed questionnaires. In relation to these facets, their intention to leave the service is also explored. The findings reveal that these workers are generally satisfied with their job (the service). At the end, some recommendations are made to promote job satisfaction and facilitate staff retention in YOTs in Hong Kong.postprin
The sonographic appearance and obstetric management of placenta accreta
Placenta accreta is a condition of abnormal placental implantation in which the placental tissue invades beyond the decidua basalis. It may invade into or even through the myometrium and adjacent organs, such as the urinary bladder. The incidence has been rising in recent years. It is one of the important obstetric complications nowadays, leading to significant maternal morbidity and mortality. In the past, this condition was often diagnosed at the time of delivery when massive and unexpected hemorrhage occurred. Hysterectomy, associated with significant physical and psychological consequences, was usually the only management option. As more obstetricians have become aware of this condition, early identification with antenatal imaging diagnostic technology has become possible. Ultrasound scan plays an important role in the antenatal diagnosis. Various sonographic features with different specificity and sensitivity have been described in the literature. In equivocal cases, magnetic resonance imaging may be helpful. With such information, more accurate counseling can be offered to the mothers and their families before delivery. The delivery can also be arranged at a favorable time and in an institution where multidisciplinary support is available. Input from a hematologist, interventional radiologist, intensive care physician, urology surgeon, and/or other specialist are desirable. Apart from hysterectomy, various forms of conservative management can also be considered when the diagnosis is made prior to delivery. Fertility can therefore be preserved. After delivery, with or without hysterectomy performed, psychological support to the mothers and their families is essential.published_or_final_versio

Supramolecular polymer networks based on cucurbit[8]uril host-guest interactions as aqueous photo-rheological fluids
A low-mass fraction (≤0.75 wt%) supramolecular polymer network is fabricated as an aqueous photo-rheological fluid (PRF) via cucurbit[8]uril mediated host–guest interactions. Multiple myeloma and physical activity
OBJECTIVE: Physical activity has been shown to improve quality of life in cancer patients with some evidence in multiple myeloma. This study aimed to determine myeloma patients' exercise levels, their perception of physical activity, and to explore correlations with quality of life. Myeloma outpatients were invited to complete a number of questionnaires, including the Godin leisure-time exercise questionnaire (GLTEQ) to determine their exercise levels, the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General (FACT-G) questionnaire to assess health related quality of life, and the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue (FACIT-F) questionnaire to assess fatigue. RESULTS: Of the 65 respondents, 75% would like to increase their exercise level. Weakness, fatigue and pain were the most commonly perceived barriers to physical activity. 59% would like to receive physical activity advice. Only 25% were deemed active based on their GLTEQ scores. Finally, there was a significant positive correlation between the GLTEQ score and the FACT-G score (p < 0.001). Results highlight an unmet exercise need in myeloma patients. Current practice should be reviewed to develop a more holistic care model that incorporates tailored exercise advice or programme

Controlling Spatiotemporal Mechanics of Supramolecular Hydrogel Networks with Highly Branched Cucurbit[8]uril Polyrotaxanes
Attempts to rationally tune the macroscopic mechanical performance of supramolecular hydrogel networks through noncovalent molecular interactions have led to a wide variety of supramolecular materials with desirable functions. While the viscoelastic properties are dominated by temporal hierarchy (crosslinking kinetics), direct mechanistic studies on spatiotemporal control of supramolecular hydrogel networks, based on host-guest chemistry, have not yet been established. Here, supramolecular hydrogel networks assembled from highly branched cucurbit[8]uril-threaded polyrotaxanes (HBP-CB[8] ) and naphthyl-functionalized hydroxyethyl cellulose (HECNp) are reported, exploiting the CB[8] host-guest complexation. Mechanically locking CB[8] host molecules onto a highly branched hydrophilic polymer backbone, through selective binary complexation with viologen derivatives, dramatically increases the solubility of CB[8]. Additionally, the branched architecture enables tuning of material dynamics of the supramolecular hydrogel networks via both topological (spatial hierarchy) and kinetic (temporal hierarchy) control. Relationship between macroscopic properties (time- and temperature-dependent rheological properties, thermal stability, and reversibility), spatiotemporal hierarchy, and chain dynamics of the highly branched polyrotaxane hydrogel networks is investigated in detail. Such kind of tuning of material mechanics through spatiotemporal hierarchy improves our understanding of the challenging relationship between design of supramolecular polymeric materials and their complex viscoelasticity, and also highlights a facile strategy to engineer dynamic supramolecular materials.Ministry of Education of Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi MARA,
