    SP-Sephadex equilibrium chromatography of bradykinin and related peptides: Application to trypsin-treated human plasma

    An analytical method is deseribed for the separation of bradykinin, Lys-bradykinin, and Met-Lys-bradykinin by equilibrium chromatography on SP-Sephadex C-25 eluted in 0.02 Tris-HCl buffer, pH 8.10, 0.12 NaCl. A second elution buffer, 0.02 Tris-HCl buffer, pH 7.70, 0.06 NaCl, serves as a second parameter for the identification of bradykinin and also separates the hormone from plasma bradykinin-potentiating peptides. Ten to one-hundred nanomoles of each peptide can be recovered in high yields, identified by elution position, and measured by bioassay with the isolated guinea pig ileum. The identification of bradykinin as the peptide released by trypsin acting on acid-denatured plasma is documented as an illustration of the method

    Stochastic magnetohydrodynamic turbulence in space dimensions d2d\ge 2

    Interplay of kinematic and magnetic forcing in a model of a conducting fluid with randomly driven magnetohydrodynamic equations has been studied in space dimensions d2d\ge 2 by means of the renormalization group. A perturbative expansion scheme, parameters of which are the deviation of the spatial dimension from two and the deviation of the exponent of the powerlike correlation function of random forcing from its critical value, has been used in one-loop approximation. Additional divergences have been taken into account which arise at two dimensions and have been inconsistently treated in earlier investigations of the model. It is shown that in spite of the additional divergences the kinetic fixed point associated with the Kolmogorov scaling regime remains stable for all space dimensions d2d\ge 2 for rapidly enough falling off correlations of the magnetic forcing. A scaling regime driven by thermal fluctuations of the velocity field has been identified and analyzed. The absence of a scaling regime near two dimensions driven by the fluctuations of the magnetic field has been confirmed. A new renormalization scheme has been put forward and numerically investigated to interpolate between the ϵ\epsilon expansion and the double expansion.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figure

    Ciclo de produção de cultivares de videiras para vinho no Vale do Submédio São Francisco.

    A região do Submédio São Francisco, iniciou sua produção de uvas viníferas na década de 80, tendo sua expansão tornado expressiva a partir dos anos 90, quando surgiram as demandas por técnicas adequadas de produção. Dentre essas demandas, destaca-se a implantação de modelos de produção com uso reduzido de agroquímicos, viabilizando o emprego de técnicas da produção integrada. O objetivo deste trabalho foi, avaliar a fenologia de cultivares de uvas finas para vinho, disponibilizando informações básicas para o aprimoramento da vitivinicultura nessa região. Este estudo, compreendendo dezoito cultivares de uvas tintas, com 2 anos de idade, foi realizado em um vinhedo E!xperimental, instalado na Fazenda Milano, Santa Maria da Boa vista - PE. Dentro da parcela, foram marcadas dez plantas, registrando-se a seqüência da fenologia de cada cultivar, com intervalos de dois dias, a partir da poda. Adotou-se a escala fenológica, considerando-se: a) início da brotação - quando a p'rimeira, dentre as gemas avaliadas, apresentava-se no estádio 7 (ponto verde); b) início da floração - quando a primeira, dentre as inflorescências avaliadas, apresentava-se com cerca de 50% de flores em antese (estádio 65); c) início de maturação - quando o primeiro, dentre os cachos avaliados, apresentava 50% de bagas em mudança de cor (estádio 85). O ciclo fenológico das cultivares avaliadas variou de 104 a 134 dias após a poda - DAP, sendo classificadas as cultivares como segue: a) ciclo curto (inferior a 115 dias) - Alfrocheiro, Deckrot e Tempranillo; b) ciclo médio (entre 115 e 125 dias) - Alicante Bouschet e Pinot Noir; c) ciclo longo (superior a 125 dias) - Ancelotta, Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Castelão, Grenache, Merlot, Moscato de Hamburgo, Periquita, Petit Verdot, Petite Syrah, Ruby Cabernet, Sangiovese e Tinta Roriz. O início da brotação, para todas as cultivares, foi de 8 DAP. O início da floração e maturação variou, respectivamente, de 9 a 16 e de 32 a 58 DAP
