    Get PDF
Professor J. Boussard already pointed the importance of the oblique quill cutting concerning genesis and tracing of the gothic script; nowadays it continues to be one of the most debated palaeog-raphical subjects. So, the aim of this paper is studying this technique, essentially from a calligraphical point of view, in order to obtain some clarifying graphic results

Jacobson’s theorem on derivations of primitive rings with nonzero socle: a proof and applications

    Get PDF
We provide a proof of Jacobson’s theorem on derivations of primitive rings with nonzero socle. Both Jacobson’s theorem and its formulation (in terms of the socalled differential operators on left vector spaces over a division ring) underlie our paper. We apply Jacobson’s theorem to describe derivations of standard operator rings on real, complex, or quaternionic left normed spaces. Indeed, when the space is infinite-dimensional, every derivation of such a standard operator ring is of the form A → AB− BA for some continuous linear operator B on the space. Our quaternionic approach allows us to generalizeRickart’s theorem on representation of primitive complete normed associative complex algebras with nonzero socle to the case of primitive real or complex associative normed Q-algebras with nonzero socle. We prove that additive derivations of the Jordan algebra of a continuous nondegenerate symmetric bilinear form on any infinite-dimensional real or complex Banach space are in a oneto- one natural correspondence with those continuous linear operators on the space which are skew-adjoint relative to the form. Finally we prove that additive derivations of a real or complex (possibly non-associative) H∗-algebra with no nonzero finite-dimensional direct summand are linear and continuousUniversidad de Granada/CBU

    Nonassociative real H*-algebras

We prove that, if A denotes a topologically simple real (non-associative) H*-algebra, then either A is a topologically simple complex H*-algebra regarded as real H*-algebra or there is a topologically simple complex H*-algebra B with *-involution r such that A = {b € B : r(b) = b*} . Using this, we obtain our main result, namely: (algebraically) isomorphic topologically simple real H*-algebras are actually * isometrically isomorphic

Morphology of Platinum Electrodeposits in the Three-Dimensional Sublayer to Full Layer Range Produced under Different Potential Modulations on Highly Oriented Pyrolytic Graphite

The topography of platinum electrodes produced by electrodeposition (19 to 200 mC cm-2) on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) under different potential modulations was investigated by atomic force microscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy, and H-atom electrosorption voltammetry. To modulate electrodeposition, (i) triangular potential cycling at 0.1 V s-1, (ii) a linear cathodic potential at 0.1 V s-1 and anodic potential step cycling, and (iii) square wave potential cycling at 5000 Hz were utilized. AFM and STM imaging showed that at lower platinum loading the HOPG surface was partially covered by a 3D sublayer of platinum. Electrodes produced by procedure (i) were made of faceted platinum aggregates of about 200 nm and nanoclusters in the range of 5−20 nm; those that resulted from procedure (ii) consisted of anisotropic aggregates of nanoclusters arranged as quasi-parallel domains. These electrodes from (i) and (ii) behaved as fractal objects. The electrodes resulting from procedure (iii) exhibited a flat surface that behaved as a Euclidean object. For all WEs, as the platinum loading was increased the HOPG surface was fully covered by a thin 3D layer of platinum aggregates produced by electrodeposition and coalescence phenomena. Large platinum loading led to electrodes with fractal geometry. Statistical parameters (root-mean-square height, skewedness, kurtosis, anisotropy, Abbot curve, number of protrusions and valleys, and fractal dimension) were obtained from the analysis of AFM and STM imaging data. Platinum electrodeposition coupled to either H-adatom formation for procedures (i) and (ii) or phonon dispersion for (iii) was involved in the surface atom rearrangements related to electrofaceting. The H-adatom electrosorption voltammetry data were used to evaluate the real electrode surface area via the voltammetric charge and to advance a tentative explanation of the contribution of the different crystallographic facets to the global electrochemical process dominated by weak H−Pt adsorption interactions.

In this article, we will aim to carry out a hermeneutical reading of the work Alejandro en Conil, as part of the cliff series of Conil (Cádiz), in order to approach an aesthetic vision of the artistic creation of Antonio Agudo. From this perespective, we will address the importance or influence that various ideas had on the chaotic nature, which emerged in his encounte r with America, as well as the symbolic fo r ce that, through the pictorial representation of his son, Junguian archetype of the father prints on the work of our author. With all that, it would be evident to what extent the worldview and the background of the collective unc o nscious are significant for Antonio Agudo ́s aesthetic thought
