    Search for Lepton-Flavor-Violating tau Decays into a Lepton and an f0(980) Meson

    Full text link
    We search for lepton-flavor-violating tau decays into a lepton (electron or muon) and an f0(980) meson using 671 fb-1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. No events are observed and we set the following 90% C.L. upper limits on the branching fraction products: B(tau- -> e-f0(980))*B(f0(980)->pi+pi-) mu-f0(980))*B(f0(980) -> pi+pi-)<3.4x10^-8. This is the first search performed for these modes.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, submitted to Phys. Lett.

    Observation of the ϕ(1680)\phi(1680) and the Y(2175) in e+eϕπ+πe^+ e^- \to \phi\pi^+\pi^-

    Full text link
    The cross sections for e+eϕπ+πe^+ e^- \to \phi\pi^+\pi^- and e^+ e^- \to \phi \fzero are measured from threshold to s=3.0\sqrt{s}=3.0 GeV\hbox{GeV} using initial state radiation. The analysis is based on a data sample of 673 fb1^{-1} collected on and below the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^+e^- collider. First measurements are reported for the resonance parameters of the ϕ(1680)\phi(1680) in the ϕπ+π\phi\pi^+\pi^- mode: m=(1689±7±10)m=(1689\pm 7\pm 10) MeV/c2c^2 and Γ=(211±14±19)\Gamma=(211\pm 14\pm 19) MeV/c2c^2. A structure at s=2.1GeV/c2\sqrt{s}=2.1 \hbox{GeV}/c^2, corresponding to the so called Y(2175), is observed; its mass and width are determined to be 2079±1328+792079\pm13^{+79}_{-28} MeV/c2c^2 and 192±2361+25MeV/c2192\pm23^{+25}_{-61} \hbox{MeV}/c^2, respectively.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures. Observation of Ds1(2536)+ -> D+pi-K+ and angular decomposition of Ds1(2536)+ -> D*+K0S

    Full text link
    Using 462/fb of e+e- annihilation data recorded by the Belle detector, we report the first observation of the decay Ds1(2536)+ -> D+pi-K+. The ratio of branching fractions B(Ds1+ -> D+pi-K+)/B(Ds1+ -> D*+K0) is measured to be (3.27+-0.18+-0.37)%. We also study the angular distributions in the Ds1(2536)+ -> D*+K0S decay and measure the ratio of D- and S-wave amplitudes. The S-wave dominates, with a partial width of Gamma_S/Gamma_total=0.72+-0.05+-0.01.Comment: Submitted to Phys.Rev.D 16 pages, 6 figures, 3 table

    Search for new charmonium states in the processes e+ e- --> J/psi D(*) D(*) at sqrt{s} ~ 10.6 GeV

    Full text link
    We present a study of the X(3940) state in the process e+e- -> J/psi D* Dbar. The X(3940) mass and width are measured to be (3942 +7 -6 +- 6)MeV/c^2 and Gamma=(37 + 26 - 15 +- 8 MeV. In the process e+e- -> J/psi D* D*bar we have observed another charmonium-like state, which we denote as X(4160), in the spectrum of invariant masses of D*+ D*- combinations. The X(4160) parameters are M= 4156 + 25 - 20 +- 15 MeV/c^2 and Gamma = 139 + 111 -61 +- 21 MeV. The analysis is based on a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 693 /fb recorded near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+ e- asymmetric-energy collider.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures Contribution paper for conferences EPS2007 and Lepton Photon 2007, Belle-Conference-070

    Search for \bar{B}^0\to\Lambda_c^+\bar{\Lambda}_c^- decay at Belle

    Full text link
    We search for the doubly charmed baryonic decay Bˉ0Λc+Λˉc\bar{B}^0\to\Lambda_c^+\bar{\Lambda}_c^-, in a data sample of 520×106520\times10^6 BBˉB{\bar B} events accumulated at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e^+e^- collider. We find no significant signal and set an upper limit of B(Bˉ0Λc+Λˉc)<6.2×105{\cal B}(\bar{B}^0\to\Lambda_c^+\bar{\Lambda}_c^-)<6.2\times10^{-5} at 90% confidence level. The result is significantly below a naive extrapolation from B(BΞc0Λˉc){\cal B}(B^-\to\Xi_c^0\bar{\Lambda}_c^) assuming a simple Cabibbo-suppression factor of Vcd/Vcs2|V_{cd}/V_{cs}|^2. The small branching fraction could be attributed to a suppression due to the large momentum of the baryonic decay products, which has been observed in other charmed baryonic two-body B decays. trend observed in other charmed baryonic two-body B decays.Comment: 12 page, 5 figures. Search for B -> h(*) nu nubar Decays at Belle

    Full text link
    We present a search for the rare decays B -> h(*) nu nubar, where h(*) stands for a light meson. A data sample of 535 million BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider is used. Signal candidates are required to have an accompanying B meson fully reconstructed in a hadronic mode and signal-side particles consistent with a single h(*) meson. No significant signal is observed and we set upper limits on the branching fractions at 90% confidence level. The limits on B0 -> K*0 nu nubar and B+ -> K+ nu nubar decays are more stringent than the previous constraints, while the first searches for B0 -> K0 nu nubar, pi0 nu nubar, rho0 nu nubar, phi nu nubar and B+ -> K*+ nu nubar, rho+ nu nubar are reported.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures, submit to PR

    Observation of B±ψ(2S)π±B^{\pm} \to \psi(2S) \pi^{\pm} and search for direct CP-violation

    Full text link
    We report the first observation of B±ψ(2S)π±B^{\pm}\to\psi(2S)\pi^{\pm}, a Cabibbo- and color-suppressed decay. This analysis is based on 657×106657\times10^{6} BBB\overline B events collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e+ee^+e^- collider. The measured branching fraction is (2.44±0.22±0.202.44 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.20)×105\times 10^{-5} and the charge asymmetry is A=0.022±0.085±0.016\mathcal{A}=0.022 \pm 0.085 \pm 0.016. The ratio of the branching fractions B(B±ψ(2S)π±)\mathcal {B}(B^{\pm} \to \psi(2S) \pi^{\pm})/B(B±ψ(2S)K±)/ \mathcal {B}(B^{\pm} \to \psi(2S) K^{\pm}) =(3.99±0.36±0.17) = (3.99 \pm 0.36\pm 0.17)% is also determined.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, submitted to PRD(RC

    Evidence for Neutral B Meson Decays to wK*0

    Full text link
    We present the results of a study of the charmless vector-vector decay B0->wK*0 with 657x10^6 BB(bar) pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We measure the branching fraction to be B(B0->wK*0)=[1.8+/-0.7(stat)+/-0.3(syst)]x10^-6 with 3.0sigma significance. We also perform a helicity analysis of the w and K*0 vector mesons, and obtain the longitudinal polarization fraction fL(B0->wK*0)=0.56+/-0.29(stat)+0.18-0.08(syst). Finally, we measure a large non-resonant branching fraction B[B->wK+pi-; M(Kpi)\in(0.755,1.250) GeV/c^2]=[5.1+/-0.7(stat)+/-0.7(syst)]x10^-6 with a significance of 9.5sigma.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures (7 figure files
