Efficient quantum key distribution scheme with nonmaximally entangled states
We propose an efficient quantum key distribution scheme based on
entanglement. The sender chooses pairs of photons in one of the two equivalent
nonmaximally entangled states randomly, and sends a sequence of photons from
each pair to the receiver. They choose from the various bases independently but
with substantially different probabilities, thus reducing the fraction of
discarded data, and a significant gain in efficiency is achieved. We then show
that such a refined data analysis guarantees the security of our scheme against
a biased eavesdropping strategy.Comment: 5 Pages, No Figur
Faithful remote state preparation using finite classical bits and a non-maximally entangled state
We present many ensembles of states that can be remotely prepared by using
minimum classical bits from Alice to Bob and their previously shared entangled
state and prove that we have found all the ensembles in two-dimensional case.
Furthermore we show that any pure quantum state can be remotely and faithfully
prepared by using finite classical bits from Alice to Bob and their previously
shared nonmaximally entangled state though no faithful quantum teleportation
protocols can be achieved by using a nonmaximally entangled state.Comment: 6 page
A novel quantum key distribution scheme with orthogonal product states
The general conditions for the orthogonal product states of the multi-state
systems to be used in quantum key distribution (QKD) are proposed, and a novel
QKD scheme with orthogonal product states in the 3x3 Hilbert space is
presented. We show that this protocol has many distinct features such as great
capacity, high efficiency. The generalization to nxn systems is also discussed
and a fancy limitation for the eavesdropper's success probability is reached.Comment: 4 Pages, 3 Figure
Quantum data hiding with spontaneous parameter down-conversion
Here we analyze the practical implication of the existing quantum data hiding
protocol with Bell states produced with optical downconverter. We show that the
uncertainty for the producing of the Bell states with spontaneous parameter
down-conversion should be taken into account, because it will cause serious
trouble to the hider encoding procedure. A set of extended Bell states and a
generalized Bell states analyzer are proposed to describe and analyze the
possible states of two photons distributing in two paths. Then we present a
method to integrate the above uncertainty of Bell states preparation into the
dating hiding procedure, when we encode the secret with the set of extended
Bell states. These modifications greatly simplify the hider's encoding
operations, and thus paves the way for the implementation of quantum data
hiding with present-day quantum optics.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure, adding some analyse for security proof, to be

Experimental preparation of Werner state via spontaneous parametric down-conversion
We present an experiment of preparing Werner state via spontaneous parametric
down-conversion and controlled decoherence of photons in this paper. In this
experiment two independent BBO (beta-barium borate) crystals are used to
produce down-conversion light beams, which are mixed to prepare Werner state.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures and 2 table
Reducing the communication complexity with quantum entanglement
We propose a probabilistic two-party communication complexity scenario with a
prior nonmaximally entangled state, which results in less communication than
that is required with only classical random correlations. A simple all-optical
implementation of this protocol is presented and demonstrates our conclusion.Comment: 4 Pages, 2 Figure
Disentanglement and Inseparability correlation : in two-qubit system
Started from local universal isotropic disentanglement, a threshold
inequality on reduction factors is proposed, which is necessary and sufficient
for this type of disentanglement processes. Furthermore, we give the conditions
realizing ideal disentanglement processes provided that some information on
quantum states is known. In addition, based on fully entangled fraction, a
concept called inseparability correlation is presented. Some properties on
inseparability correlation coefficient are studied.Comment: 10 Pages, 2 Figures, REVTeX; to appear in PR
Discovery and Measurement of Sleptons, Binos, and Winos with a Z'
Extensions of the MSSM could significantly alter its phenomenology at the
LHC. We study the case in which the MSSM is extended by an additional U(1)
gauge symmetry, which is spontaneously broken at a few TeV. The production
cross-section of sleptons is enhanced over that of the MSSM by the process
, so the discovery potential for
sleptons is greatly increased. The flavor and charge information in the
resulting decay, , provides a useful handle on
the identity of the LSP. With the help of the additional kinematical constraint
of an on-shell Z', we implement a novel method to measure all of the
superpartner masses involved in this channel. For certain final states with two
invisible particles, one can construct kinematic observables bounded above by
parent particle masses. We demonstrate how output from one such observable,
m_T2, can become input to a second, increasing the number of measurements one
can make with a single decay chain. The method presented here represents a new
class of observables which could have a much wider range of applicability.Comment: 20 pages, 15 figures; v2 references added and minor change
Scheme for the preparation of the multi-particle entanglement in cavity QED
Here we present a quantum electrodynamics (QED) model involving a
large-detuned single-mode cavity field and identical two-level atoms. One
of its applications for the preparation of the multi-particle states is
analyzed. In addition to the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state, the W
class states can also be generated in this scheme. The further analysis for the
experiment of the model of case is also presented by considering the
possible three-atom collision.Comment: 5 Pages, 1 Figure. Minor change
Should patients with Phosphomannomutase 2-CDG (PMM2-CDG) be screened for adrenal insufficiency?
PMM2-CDG is the most common congenital disorder of glycosylation (CDG) accounting for almost 65% of known CDG cases affecting N-glycosylation. Abnormalities in N-glycosylation could have a negative impact on many endocrine axes. There is very little known on the effect of impaired N-glycosylation on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis function and whether CDG patients are at risk of secondary adrenal insufficiency and decreased adrenal cortisol production. Cortisol and ACTH concentrations were simultaneously measured between 7:44 am to 1 pm in forty-three subjects (20 female, median age 12.8 years, range 0.1 to 48.6 years) participating in an ongoing international, multi-center Natural History study for PMM2-CDG (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03173300). Of the 43 subjects, 11 (25.6%) had cortisol below 5 μg/dl and low to normal ACTH levels, suggestive of secondary adrenal insufficiency. Two of the 11 subjects have confirmed central adrenal insufficiency and are on hydrocortisone replacement and/or stress dosing during illness; 3 had normal and 1 had subnormal cortisol response to ACTH low-dose stimulation test but has not yet been started on therapy; the remaining 5 have upcoming stimulation testing planned. Our findings suggest that patients with PMM2-CDG may be at risk for adrenal insufficiency. Monitoring of morning cortisol and ACTH levels should be part of the standard care in patients with PMM2-CDG.Glycomine, Inc. was the sponsor of this study, and was involved in the study design and in the and interpretation of data; in the writing of the report; and in the decision to submit the article for publication.
