Current-induced phase control in charged-ordered Nd0.5Ca0.5MnO3 and Pr0.6Ca0.4MnO3 crystals
Single crystals of Nd0.5Ca0.5MnO3 and Pr0.6Ca0.4MnO3 show current-induced
insulator-metal transitions at low temperatures. In addition, the
charge-ordering transition temperature decreases with increasing current. The
electroresistive ratio, defined as r0.5/rI where r0.5 is the resistivity at a
current of 0.5 mA and rI the resistivity at a given applied current, I, varies
markedly with temperature and the value of I. Thermal hysteresis observed in
Nd0.5Ca0.5MnO3 and Pr0.6Ca0.4MnO3 at the insulator-metal transition indicates
that the transition is first-order. The current-induced changes are comparable
to those induced by magnetic fields, and the insulator-metal transition in
Pr0.6Ca0.4MnO3 is accordingly associated with a larger drop in resistivity.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures, first submitted to submitted to J. Phys. D;

Trust Based Participant Driven Privacy Control in Participatory Sensing
Widespread use of sensors and multisensory personal devices generate a lot of
personal information. Sharing this information with others could help in
various ways. However, this information may be misused when shared with all.
Sharing of information between trusted parties overcomes this problem. This
paper describes a model to share information based on interactions and opinions
to build trust among peers. It also considers institutional and other controls,
which influence the behaviour of the peers. The trust and control build
confidence. The computed confidence bespeaks whether to reveal information or

Non-linear electrical conduction and broadband noise in charge-ordered rare earth manganate Nd_0.5Ca_0.5MnO_3
Measurements of the dc transport properties and the low-frequency
conductivity noise in films of charge ordered Nd_0.5Ca_0.5MnO_3 grown on Si
subtrate reveal the existence of a threshold field in the charge ordered regime
beyond which strong non linear conduction sets in along with a large broad band
conductivity noise. Threshold-dependent conduction disappears as T -> T_{CO},
the charge ordering temperature. This observation suggests that the charge

A video game design based on Emotiv Neuroheadset
This paper presents our work on the development of a video maze game in Android system, and a new method to play the game using gyroscope and electromyography (EMG) signals obtained by a wireless Emotiv Neuroheadset. The TeamViewer software is used to share the computer screen and to transfer the data to an Android device, and the Emotiv EPOC headset is used to detect the intension of the user who is playing the game. The cursor position is controlled using information from the gyroscope embeded in the headset. The clicks are generated through the users blinking action based on the expressive suite data acquired from Emotiv headset signal data. A program called Neuro Mousecontrol is used to act as a tool for controlling gyroscope movements and clicking actions together. Extensive tests have demonstrated the effectiveness of the developed system
PERFORMANCE STUDY OF FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS ON NON EXPANSIVE SOILS
As part of infrastructure development huge investment is being made on expansion of National highways and important roads across the country. For improvement of Highways two types of Pavements are commonly used in India viz., Flexible Pavements (Bituminous) and rigid pavements (Concrete). Flexible pavements are widely used in this country from the considerations of economy The performance of Flexible pavements depends largely on properties of original ground on which the pavement rests, the quality of materials used in the construction of various layers of pavement and quality assurance as per relevant specifications. In general any road after construction is basically evaluated by the performance in terms of unevenness index and structural stability over a period of time. The evaluation of these two important parameters will facilitate the clear understanding of performance of various materials used in the construction and to undertake suitable rehabilitation measures if necessary. Node activity based trust and reputation estimation approach for secure and QoS routing in MANET
Achieving safe and secure communication in MANETs is a key challenge due to its dynamic nature. A number of security studies disclose that reputation management systems are able to be effectual with less overhead. The reputation of a node is calculated by using automated assessment algorithms depend on predefined trust scheme. This paper proposes a Node Activity-based Trust and Reputation estimation (NA-TRE) approach for the security and QoS routing in MANET. NA-TRE aims to find trust estimation and reputation of a node. The NA-TRE approach monitors the activity changes, packet forwarding or dropping in a node to find the status of the node. The various activities of a node like Normal State (NS), Resource Limitation State (RS) and Malicious State (MS) are monitored. This status of a node is helpful in computing trust and reputation. In this paper NA-TRE approach compared with existing protocols AODV, FACE and TMS to evaluate the efficiency of MANET. The experiment results show that 20% increasing of throughput, 10% decrease of overhead and end to end delay
A study on climatological features of the Asian summer monsoon: dynamics, energetics and variability
A continuing goal in the diagnostic studies of the atmospheric general circulation is to estimate various quantities that cannot be directly observed. Evaluation of all the dynamical terms in the budget equations for kinetic energy, vorticity, heat and moisture provide estimates of kinetic energy and vorticity generation, diabatic heating and source/sinks of moisture. All these are important forcing factors to the climate system. In this paper, diagnostic aspects of the dynamics and energetics of the Asian summer monsoon and its spatial variability in terms of contrasting features of surplus and deficient summer monsoon seasons over India are studied with reanalysis data sets. The daily reanalysis data sets from the National Centre for Environmental Prediction/National Centre for Atmospheric Research (NCEP/NCAR) are used for a fifty-two year (1948-1999) period to investigate the large-scale budget of kinetic energy, vorticity, heat and moisture. The primary objectives of the study are to comprehend the climate diagnostics of the Asian summer monsoon and the role of equatorial convection of the summer monsoon activity over India.It is observed that the entrance/exit regions of the Tropical Easterly Jet (TEJ) are characterized by the production/destruction of the kinetic energy, which is essential to maintain outflow/inflow prevailing at the respective location of the TEJ. Both zonal and meridional components contribute to the production of kinetic energy over the monsoon domain, though the significant contribution to the adiabatic generation of kinetic energy originates from the meridional component over the Bay of Bengal in the upper level and over the Somali Coast in the low level. The results indicate that the entire Indian peninsula including the Bay of Bengal is quite unstable during the summer monsoon associated with the production of vorticity within the domain itself and maintain the circulation. The summer monsoon evinces strong convergence of heat and moisture over the monsoon domain. Also, considerable heat energy is generated through the action of the adiabatic process. The combined effect of these processes leads to the formation of a strong diabatic heat source in the region to maintain the monsoon circulation. The interesting aspect noted in this study is that the large-scale budgets of heat and moisture indicate excess magnitudes over the Arabian Sea and the western equatorial Indian Ocean during surplus monsoon. On the other hand, the east equatorial Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal region show stronger activity during deficient monsoon. This is reflected in various budget terms considered in this study
