Light clusters and the pasta phase
The effects of including light clusters in nuclear matter at low densities
are investigated within four different parametrizations of relativistic models
at finite temperature. Both homogeneous and inhomogeneous matter (pasta phase)
are described for neutral nuclear matter with fixed proton fractions. We
discuss the effect of the density dependence of the symmetry energy, the
temperature and the proton fraction on the non-homogeneous matter forming the
inner crust of proto-neutron stars. It is shown that the number of nucleons in
the clusters, the cluster proton fraction and the sizes of the Wigner Seitz
cell and of the cluster are very sensitive to the density dependence of the

Decision Making for Inconsistent Expert Judgments Using Negative Probabilities
In this paper we provide a simple random-variable example of inconsistent
information, and analyze it using three different approaches: Bayesian,
quantum-like, and negative probabilities. We then show that, at least for this
particular example, both the Bayesian and the quantum-like approaches have less

Um Caso Raro de Tumor Abdominopélvico: Paraganglioma
Paragangliomas are rare tumors, with a reported incidence of 2–8 per million. They are chromaffin cell tumors that develop from the
neural crest cells and may be divided in tumors derived from the parasympathetic or sympathetic ganglia. We report a case a of a
32-year-old nulliparous woman, referred to our Infertility Clinic. Abdomino-pelvic ultrasound identified a large abdominopelvic tumor,
without ovarian origin (both ovaries were identified and had normal morphology). Magnetic Resonance Imaging suggested a right
adnexal multicystic, vascularized mass close to iliac vessels and questioning an ovarian origin. At exploratory laparotomy, a 10 cm
encapsulated and vascularized mass was found beginning just below right renal artery and extending to the level of the broad ligament.
This mass was totally excised and histopathology was consistent with Paraganglioma
Distinguishing the albedo of exoplanets from stellar activity
Light curves show the flux variation from the target star and its orbiting
planets as a function of time. In addition to the transit features created by
the planets, the flux also includes the reflected light component of each
planet, which depends on the planetary albedo. This signal is typically
referred to as phase curve and could be easily identified if there were no
additional noise. As well as instrumental noise, stellar activity, such as
spots, can create a modulation in the data, which may be very difficult to
distinguish from the planetary signal. We analyze the limitations imposed by
the stellar activity on the detection of the planetary albedo, considering the
limitations imposed by the predicted level of instrumental noise and the short
duration of the observations planned in the context of the CHEOPS mission. As
initial condition, we have assumed that each star is characterized by just one
orbiting planet. We built mock light curves that included a realistic stellar
activity pattern, the reflected light component of the planet and an
instrumental noise level, which we have chosen to be at the same level as
predicted for CHEOPS. We then fit these light curves to try to recover the
reflected light component, assuming the activity patterns can be modeled with a
Gaussian process.We estimate that at least one full stellar rotation is
necessary to obtain a reliable detection of the planetary albedo. This result
is independent of the level of noise, but it depends on the limitation of the
Gaussian process to describe the stellar activity when the light curve
time-span is shorter than the stellar rotation. Finally, in presence of typical
CHEOPS gaps in the simulations, we confirm that it is still possible to obtain

Synchronous Endometrioid Endometrial and Ovarian Cancer in a 34-Year-Old Woman
Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynaecological malignancy in developed countries. Synchronous endometrioid endometrial and ovarian cancer in patients appears with different clinical characteristics compared to patients with isolated endometrial cancer. A 34-year-old woman with lower abdominal pain of 1 year duration presented at the emergency department. On gynaecological examination, she had a left and midline pelvic mass. A transvaginal ultrasound showed it to be a complex hypervascularised mass, with cystic and solid components on left adnexal region. Ectopic pregnancy and pelvic inflammatory disease were excluded. Serum levels of tumour marker CA125 and ROMA were increased. The MR showed a complex mass, suggestive of primary fallopian tube or ovarian tumour. The patient underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, pelvic and para-aortic lymph node dissection and subcolonic omentectomy. Histopathology revealed a synchronous endometrioid endometrial and ovarian cancer.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
