A Nonparametric Ensemble Binary Classifier and its Statistical Properties
In this work, we propose an ensemble of classification trees (CT) and
artificial neural networks (ANN). Several statistical properties including
universal consistency and upper bound of an important parameter of the proposed
classifier are shown. Numerical evidence is also provided using various real
life data sets to assess the performance of the model. Our proposed
nonparametric ensemble classifier doesn't suffer from the `curse of
dimensionality' and can be used in a wide variety of feature selection cum
classification problems. Performance of the proposed model is quite better when
compared to many other state-of-the-art models used for similar situations
Multi-Channel Electron Transfer Reactions: An Analytically Solvable Model
We propose an analytical method for understanding the problem of
multi-channel electron transfer reaction in solution, modeled by a particle
undergoing diffusive motion under the influence of one donor and several
acceptor potentials. The coupling between the donor potential and acceptor
potentials are assumed to be represented by Dirac Delta functions. The
diffusive motion in this paper is represented by the Smoluchowski equation. Our
solution requires the knowledge of the Laplace transform of the Green's
function for the motion in all the uncoupled potentials.Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:0903.306
Spin transitions in an incompressible liquid Coulomb coupled to a quantum dot
We report on our investigation of the low-lying energy spectra and charge
density of a two-dimensional quantum Hall liquid at that is
Coulomb coupled to a quantum dot. The dot contains a hole and two/three
electrons. We found that any external perturbation (caused by the close
proximity of the quantum dot) locally changes the spin polarization of the
incompressible liquid. The effect depends crucially on the separation distance
of the quantum dot from the electron plane. Electron density distribution in
the quantum Hall layer indicates creation of a quasihole that is localized by
the close proximity of the quantum dot. Manifestation of this effect in the
photoluminescence spectroscopy is also discussed.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Optical Signatures of Spin-Orbit Interaction Effects in a Parabolic Quantum Dot
We demonstrate here that the dipole-allowed optical absorption spectrum of a
parabolic quantum dot subjected to an external magnetic field reflects the
inter-electron interaction effects when the spin-orbit interaction is also
taken into account. We have investigated the energy spectra and the
dipole-allowed transition energies for up to four interacting electrons
parabolically confined, and have uncovered several novel features in those
spectra that are solely due to the SO interaction.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
