    Em pleno século XXI, é cada vez mais uma prioridade salvaguardar a tranquilidade das pessoas, nomeadamente, da poluição sonora ambiental. No contexto do planeamento urbano, os mapas de ruído fornecem informações importantes sobre o ruído ambiental, possibilitando seguir e prever a variação dos níveis de ruído que vão sofrendo alterações mediante a forma do espaço urbano bem como a sua utilização. O estudo apresentado neste trabalho refere-se à avaliação do ruído ambiente de um bairro habitacional “Vila Universitária”, localizado em Bauru, no Brasil. A ferramenta adoptada para desenvolver estes estudos inclui modelos de previsão de ruído numa plataforma de SIG. Com base em dados de tráfego e nas características físicas do local foram desenvolvidos mapas de ruído, sendo posteriormente validado com medições de ruído “in situ”. O presente artigo apresenta uma abordagem do ruído urbano, passando pelos fundamentos teóricos e pelo estudo desenvolvido para a Vila Universitária, em Bauru

    Search for Associations Containing Young stars (SACY): Chemical tagging IC 2391 & the Argus association

    We explore the possible connection between the open cluster IC 2391 and the unbound Argus association identified by the SACY survey. In addition to common kinematics and ages between these two systems, here we explore their chemical abundance patterns to confirm if the two substructures shared a common origin. We carry out a homogenous high-resolution elemental abundance study of eight confirmed members of IC 2391 as well as six members of the Argus association using UVES spectra. We derive spectroscopic stellar parameters and abundances for Fe, Na, Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Ti, Cr, Ni and Ba. All stars in the open cluster and Argus association were found to share similar abundances with the scatter well within the uncertainties, where [Fe/H] = -0.04 +/-0.03 for cluster stars and [Fe/H] = -0.06 +/-0.05 for Argus stars. Effects of over-ionisation/excitation were seen for stars cooler than roughly 5200K as previously noted in the literature. Also, enhanced Ba abundances of around 0.6 dex were observed in both systems. The common ages, kinematics and chemical abundances strongly support that the Argus association stars originated from the open cluster IC 2391. Simple modeling of this system find this dissolution to be consistent with two-body interactions.Comment: 17 pages, 7 figs, accepted for publication in MNRA

    Study of the dust produced in rehabilitation works

    "First International Symposium on Risk Analysis and Safety of Complex Structures and Components (IRAS 2019)"Urban rehabilitation is becoming more frequent nowadays. With cities full of falling buildings and no space to build new ones, the only solution is to rehabilitate the existing heritage in order to give new life to the vacant buildings and repopulate the cities. A large amount of the built heritage suffers from advanced degradation, making the recovery, increasing the complexity of the rehabilitation and restoration intervention and implying a highly specialized interdisciplinary component. In this type of works more dust is produced than in a new work. In addition, the origin and composition of existing materials is often unknown and can therefore pose many risks to the health of workers. Meaning, dust is breathable and can remain in the air for a long period of time, being invisible to the naked eye and very light. When a building is being demolishing, the production of dust increases significantly. Depending on the type of materials to demolish, the risk of occupational diseases, or risks, to the health of workers may be great. To avoid such risks, preventive measures must be taken in the execution of the tasks. In this study, the dust of two rehabilitation works in the district of Viana do Castelo was studied through experimental tests in order to verify the composition of the demolished materials. Particles characterization was done, using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Then, with the tests results, the chemical composition of the existing materials was analyzed in detail. After that, the chemical components of demolished materials were carefully studied to identify which of these particles could represent a risk to the workers? health. As a conclusion the preventive measures that workers must take when performing rehabilitation works are presented, depending on what type of materials they are potentially exposed.(undefined

    Study of historical value mortars

    "First International Symposium on Risk Analysis and Safety of Complex Structures and Components (IRAS 2019)"The rehabilitation of buildings, or historic landmarks, has gained in importance over the years. It is increasingly important to safeguard the cultural identity and history of a country. In this research the mortars of the Roman city of Conimbriga were studied, being one of the oldest archaeological cities in Portugal. Conímbriga has its origin in a Celtic Castro of the tribe of the Conii, at the end of the Iron Age. It was occupied by the Romans from 139 BC. It was under the Emperor Augustus Empire, in the second century AD, that the city achieved its splendor, having then been built public baths and a Forum. With the decline of the Empire, in the late fourth century, a monumental defensive wall was erected, which did not prevent the assault of the city by the Suevi, in 468, and the consequent decline of the city. Large excavations carried out throughout the 20th century revealed a valuable and complex set of buildings, including thermal baths, an aqueduct that runs more than 3,400 meters from the source, and remains of a Christian basilica, probably from the 6th century. In this type of rehabilitation works the use of mortars was predominant, hence the importance of their study to know how they behave. In order for a rehabilitation intervention to be successful it is necessary to know the existing support in place to guarantee the compatibility of the materials. It was necessary to go ?in situ? to collect the samples with the proper authorization of the Museum of Conimbriga. These mortar samples were analyzed and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for further analysis. The composition of the samples will allow to adjust dosages and to choose a restoration mortar, as close as possible, to the one that was collected in order to preserve the maximum historical identity of the place.(undefined
