    El presente artículo tiene como propósito fundamentar la importancia del proceso de vinculación (PV) en la formación del estudiante de ingeniería, a través de un análisis histórico de la evolución de dicho proceso, así como sus potencialidades formativas. Es obvio que este tema es muy amplio y complejo, en este trabajo se muestranalgunos de los resultados de una primera etapa de investigación sobre el mismo llevada a cabo en la Facultad de Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica (FIME) de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, México. Se muestran resultados obtenidos en la fase exploratoria de una investigación realizada en la citada facultad entre ellos; la caracterización de la evolución del PV así como la descripción de algunos datos obtenidos mediante la técnica de encuesta.ABSTRACTThis article is aimed at supporting the importance of the process of social relations in the engineer student training process and highly its educative potentials by means of historical analysis of its evolution. It´s obvious that talking about this subject raises a very wide and complex topic for discussion, but the paper shows you few of the results of the first stage of a research made at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, Mexico. It shows us the results at the exploratory stage of the research; the purpose of the evolution of social relationship, as well as the description of some scores obtained through the survey techniques, that help us to identify its mainly achievements as well as its limitations
