Customer service orientation on adhesion contracts
Hiring a service is a moment of great importance once it builds the perception of the service value and quality. Some companies may deal with that, assuming a greater importance when elaborating their service contracts. Usually law professional people elaborate these documents, but this may include legal attributes, not considering the service to the customers, as well as the customers’ point of view. In times of increasing on customer focus, market and service orientation, a question can be posted: to what extent company contracts show service or customer orientation? This paper compares the service orientation degree for Cable TV contracts from five companies, based on a theoretical model developed to this purpose. From a conceptual model for servant contract, four dimensions were assessed: physical aspects, reasonableness, intelligibility and customer focus. After subject evaluation by eight judges, analyzing the validation index (CVI), it was found that the contracts show moderate orientation to serve. Furthermore, results show that the five surveyed company’s contracts showed a similar overall performance, i.e., none stood out over the other. The study presents important practical efficacy, because it can guide the Cable TV companies to adopt improvement strategies in elaboration of contracts, so that the contractual instruments be would reviewed of clauses that promote the sensation of better service to their customer. Thus, this article directs the manager to the aspect that deserves more attention, i.e, which dimensions require further refinement and direction to serv
Facing the regulators: non-compliance with detailed mandatory compensation disclosure in Brazil
A preliminary court injunction based on alleged personal security risks to managers and directors gave Brazilian public companies the option of non-compliance with the most sensitive part of newly mandated compensation disclosure rules. We find, however, no association between state-level crime data and non-compliance, which is possibly motivated by agency conflicts. Non-compliers tend to present lower corporate governance (CG) quality, higher ownership concentration, larger total assets, and less profitability. State and foreign owned companies are significantly less likely non-compliers. Shareholders correctly anticipated that lower CG quality firms were more likely to exercise their non-compliance option, but may have been negatively surprised when some higher CG quality firms did not comply.IndisponĂve
Catatonia in Dementia: A Systematic Review of Case Reports and Case Series
Background: Catatonia is a neuropsychiatric syndrome characterized by motor, behavioral, and autonomic abnormalities. It is often underdiagnosed in geriatric patients with dementia despite established diagnostic criteria and treatment options.
Objective: This systematic review investigates catatonia in the elderly, particularly those with dementia, to examine their clinical presentation, treatment response, and prognosis compared to elderly patients without dementia.
Methods: We comprehensively searched MEDLINE and EMBASE, including case reports and series on catatonia in elderly patients. Reviewers independently performed data extraction and quality assessments. Statistical significance was set at a p value ≤0.05, and a multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze differences between patients with and without dementia.
Results: Our review included 182 articles with 225 cases. We found no significant differences in the clinical presentation of catatonia between patients with and without dementia, with both groups commonly exhibiting the hypokinetic variant. However, patients with dementia were more frequently treated with NMDA receptor antagonists (OR: 3.27; CI: 1.05-10.11; p = 0.040) and had a lower complete response rate to treatment (OR: 0.37; CI: 0.19-0.75; p = 0.006). Patients with dementia also exhibited fewer acute medical conditions (OR: 0.17; CI: 0.05-0.65; p = 0.009).
Conclusions: Catatonia in dementia does not have a different syndromic presentation. However, the diagnosis of dementia leads to varying preferences regarding the choice of symptomatic therapy and seems to be a predictor of a poorer therapeutic response. Actively treating catatonia, particularly in patients with dementia, addressing the characteristics of these patients is of paramount importance.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Species of Botryosphaeriaceae associated on mango in Brazil.
The aim of the present study was to assess diversity in the Botryosphaeriaceae on trees and fruit of mango (Mangifera indica L.) in a semi-arid region in northeastern Brazil in which most exported fruit in the country are produced

Nanocomposite gels of poloxamine and Laponite for β-Lapachone release in anticancer therapy
Nano-hybrid systems have been shown to be an attractive platform for drug delivery. Laponite® RD (LAP), a biocompatible synthetic clay, has been exploited for its ability to establish of strong secondary interactions with guest compounds and hybridization with polymers or small molecules that improves, for instance, cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation or facilitates drug attachment to their surfaces through charge interaction. In this work, LAP was combined with Tetronics, X-shaped amphiphilic PPO-PEO (poly (propylene oxide)–poly (ethylene oxide) block copolymers. β-Lapachone (BLPC) was selected for its anticancer activity and its limited bioavailability due to very low aqueous solubility, with the aim to improve this by using LAP/Tetronic nano-hybrid systems. The nanocarriers were prepared over a range of Tetronic 1304 concentrations (1 to 20% w/w) and LAP (0 to 3% w/w). A combination of physicochemical methods was employed to characterize the hybrid systems, including rheology, particle size and shape (DLS, TEM), thermal analysis (TG and DSC), FTIR, solubility studies and drug release experiments. In vitro cytotoxicity assays were performed with BALB/3T3 and MCF-7 cell lines. In hybrid systems, a sol-gel transition can occur below physiological temperature. BLPC exhibits the most significant increase in solubility in formulations with a high concentration of T1304 (over 10% w/w) and 1.5% w/w LAP, or systems with only LAP (1.5%), with a 50 and 100-fold increase in solubilisation, respectively. TEM images showed spherical micelles of T1304, which elongated into wormlike micelles with concentration (20%) and in the presence of LAP, a finding that has not been reported before. A sustained release of BLPC over 140 hours was achieved in one of the formulations (10% T1304 with 1.5% laponite), which also showed the best selectivity index towards cancer cells (MCF-7) over BALB/3T3 cell lines. In conclusion, BLPC-loaded T1304/LAP nano-hybrid systems proved safe and highly effective and are thus a promising formulation for anticancer therapy.Financial support for this research was provided by the Coordination of Improvement of Higher-Level Personnel - Brazil (CAPES) - 1575/2015.
