Strategies to Reduce Employee Turnover in the Durable Goods Industry
Some durable goods industry leaders lack strategies needed to successfully reduce voluntary employee turnover, which is detrimental to organizational performance and decreases an organization\u27s competitive advantage. The purpose of this qualitative single case study was to explore the strategies durable goods industry leaders used to reduce employee turnover in their organizations. The population consisted of 4 durable goods industry leaders in the southeastern region of the United States who had at least 3 years of managerial experience in reducing employee turnover. The conceptual framework was the transformational leadership theory of Bass. Methodological triangulation was used to increase the validity and reliability of the interpretation of the data and was accomplished by using multiple methods to gather data. Data were collected by conducting semistructured face-to-face interviews and analyzing organizational documentation. Three themes emerged from inductive coding of phrases, word frequency searches, and theme analysis: employee compensation, open and responsive communication, and training and career development opportunities. Employee compensation was the driving force to retain some employees. A comprehensive compensation and benefits package and the ability to provide intangible benefits are proven strategies to reduce turnover. By understanding what strategies reduce turnover and how to implement them, durable goods industry leaders could create positive social change through effective strategies to reduce voluntary employee turnover, decrease the unemployment rate, sustain organizational profitability, and contribute to the wealth of employees and the local economy

Effectiveness of Programmed Vocabulary Instruction in an Undergraduate Collegiate Business Communications Course
This study evaluates the effectiveness of programed vocabulary instruction in an undergraduate collegiate business communications course. In making its evaluation, the study tests the hypothesis that a class using such instruction would improve over a class without formal vocabulary study. The three areas of proficiency measured are written communication, vocabulary, and reading comprehension
Igneous origin for the Na in the cloud of Io
We heated mixtures of sulfur and Na-bearing silicates in evacuated silica glass capsules to temperatures between 600°C and 950°C. At or above 850°C, Na-silicate glass reacts with elemental S to form a (Na,K) sulfide. Mobilization of this phase may account for the presence of Na and K on the surface of Io, and hence in the material sputtered into the Jovian magnetosphere
Conference Scheduling Undermines Diversity Efforts
We assessed diversity-focused programming at 29 major biology conferences from 2010 to 2019, noting events tailored to three underrepresented and marginalized groups in biology: women, ethnic and racial minority groups, and the LGBTQ+ community (see Supplementary Information for further methods). Since 2010, diversity-focused events have become more common but frequently address only a subset of URG communities. In general, the percentage of conferences with diversity-focused events increased from 75% in 2019. On average, women were the most frequent focus of these events and the LGBTQ+ community was the least frequent focus (Fig. 1a)
