Sexual satisfaction and relationship satisfaction in homosexual men

 WSTĘP: Satysfakcja seksualna oraz satysfakcja ze związku, w którym dochodzi do realizacji seksualnej opisywane są w literaturze jako blisko ze sobą związane. Większość badań weryfikujących tę zależność prowadzono wśród osób i par heteroseksualnych. Niniejsze badanie miało na celu zbadanie zależności pomiędzy satysfakcją seksualną a satysfakcją ze związku wśród osób homoseksualnych.MATERIAŁ I METODY: W badaniu wzięło udział 27 homoseksualnych mężczyzn w wieku od 19 do 33 lat. Uczestnicy badania wypełniali dwa narzędzia kwestionariuszowe: Skalę Satysfakcji Seksualnej D. Davies oraz Skalę Satysfakcji ze Związku M. Acker i M. Davisa.WYNIKI: Przeprowadzona analiza statystyczna była oparta na analizie korelacji między badanymi zmiennymi. Wykazała istnienie znaczącego związku pomiędzy satysfakcją seksualną a satysfakcją ze związku (r = 0,67; p ≤ 0,01). Szczegółowa analiza wyników wskazała na odmienny wzorzec zależności poszczególnych aspektów satysfakcji seksualnej fizycznej i satysfakcji z poczucia kontroli oraz emocjonalnej satysfakcji seksualnej od poszczególnych aspektów satysfakcji ze związku.WNIOSKI: Uzyskane wyniki są zgodne z wcześniejszymi rezultatami badań zarówno na poziomie ogólnym, jak i w zakresie szczegółowych zależności. Zidentyfikowano zróżnicowaną współzmienność w obrębie szczegółowych aspektów satysfakcji seksualnej, wskazującą na bliższe powiązanie satysfakcji fizycznej oraz satysfakcji ze sprawowania kontroli, względną zaś niezależność od nich satysfakcji emocjonalnej. Wyniki, choć wymagające ostrożnej interpretacji ze względu na ograniczenia przyjętej procedury badawczej, wskazują na wagę dalszego badania dobrze zweryfikowanej zależności w grupach osób o zróżnicowanym funkcjonowaniu seksualnym.  INTRODUCTION: Sexual satisfaction and satisfaction related to relationship, wherein sexual contacts are realized are described in the literature as closely correlated. Most of the studies to verify this relationship were conducted among heterosexual individuals and couples. The study was designed to examine the correlation between sexual satisfaction and relationship satisfaction in homosexual individuals.MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study involved 27 men aged 19 to 33 years. Participants completed the two questionnaires: the Sexual Satisfaction Scale by D. Davies and the Satisfaction related to Relationship Scale by M. Acker and M. Davis.RESULTS: Statistical analysis was based on correlation coefficients. Sexual satisfaction and satisfaction related to relationship appeared to be statistically correlated (r = 0.67, p ≤ 0.01). Detailed analysis of the results indicated different patterns of particular aspects of sexual satisfaction: physical satisfaction, satisfaction with a sense of control in sexual contacts, emotional satisfaction with various aspects of relationship satisfaction.CONCLUSIONS: Our results are consistent with previous research results, both in general and in specific relationships. Correlations within specific aspects of sexual satisfaction were identified, indicating a closer link between physical satisfaction and satisfaction with the sense of control, and the relatively different pattern of emotional sexual satisfaction. The results require cautious interpretation due to the limitations of adopted procedure. They also highlight the importance of further research in sexually different groups.
