    Este trabajo tiene como objetivos (i) examinar la capacidad de las estadísticas españolas para estudiar las parejas de inmigrantes y (ii) mostrar las implicaciones que la definición de migrante y la selección del universo de uniones tiene sobre su estudio. Para ello utilizamos datos del Censo de 2001, la Encuesta de Población Activa, la Encuesta Nacional de Inmigrantes y el Movimiento Natural de la Población. En conclusión se ha observado una notable sensibilidad de los resultados en la elección de la fuente y, especialmente, en la definición del migrante y el tipo de unión, con importantes diferencias entre colectivo

    GNUsmail: Open framework for on-line email classification

    Real-time classification of massive email data is a challenging task that presents its own particular difficulties. Since email data presents an important temporal component, several problems arise: emails arrive continuously, and the criteria used to classify those emails can change, so the learning algorithms have to be able to deal with concept drift. Our problem is more general than spam detection, which has received much more attention in the literature. In this paper we present GNUsmail, an open-source extensible framework for email classification, which structure supports incremental and on-line learning. This framework enables the incorporation of algorithms developed by other researchers, such as those included in WEKA and MOA. We evaluate this framework, characterized by two overlapping phases (pre-processing and learning), using the ENRON dataset, and we compare the results achieved by WEKA and MOA algorithms

    Since I started thinking about the subject of my project, I wanted it to be related with environment, located in a specific location and very innovative. At first it seemed quite difficult and I thought I would finally do my project about a subject proposed by teacher or that had already been studied before. At February I started working at an architecture office as a scholar and I found out the subject I wanted to work on. It seemed quite difficult at the very beginning but as soon I started to work on it with the help of my teachers I defined the goals I wanted to reach and my point of view about the project. Before I started to work on my project, I had to look for a teacher who asesorate me in the best way. It was hard for me because I wanted to work on different subjects I have studied during my studies and I didn't know who would be interested on it. I decided to talk with Alejandro and Mª Àngels and to introduce them the idea I was thinking about, and finally they both accepted to help me. I explained them my idea abut the project and which parts I wanted to focus in and with their help and advice we fastly defined the targets I had to reach and the way I was going to reach them, so we started working (it was about June) following a few specific guidelines. Because of the different subjects I wanted to study, I have had to get information from different sources. The main part of the project has been written based on “el con de servituds, el cadastre municipal”, pictures taken in different kind of dwellings and the “planejament urbanístic”. The other parts are based on the “pla directori de Sant Quirze del Vallès, servituds aeronàutiques de la població”, the research of specific airports legislation, stadistical data about the town taken from Idescat, data taken from the Sant Quirze del Vallès City Hall webpage and other sources I've been looking up during this time

    Efficient local unfolding with ancestor stacks

    The most successful unfolding rules used nowadays in the partial evaluation of logic programs are based on well quasi orders (wqo) applied over (covering) ancestors, i.e., a subsequence of the atoms selected during a derivation. Ancestor (sub)sequences are used to increase the specialization power of unfolding while still guaranteeing termination and also to reduce the number of atoms for which the wqo has to be checked. Unfortunately, maintaining the structure of the ancestor relation during unfolding introduces significant overhead. We propose an efficient, practical local unfolding rule based on the notion of covering ancestors which can be used in combination with a wqo and allows a stack-based implementation without losing any opportunities for specialization. Using our technique, certain non-leftmost unfoldings are allowed as long as local unfolding is performed, i.e., we cover depth-first strategies. To deal with practical programs, we propose assertion-based techniques which allow our approach to treat programs that include (Prolog) built-ins and external predicates in a very extensible manner, for the case of leftmost unfolding. Finally, we report on our mplementation of these techniques embedded in a practical partial evaluator, which shows that our techniques, in addition to dealing with practical programs, are also significantly more efficient in time and somewhat more efficient in memory than traditional tree-based implementations.     Comorbidity patterns and socioeconomic inequalities in children under 15 with medical complexity : A population-based study

    Children with medical complexity (CMC) denotes the profile of a child with diverse acute and chronic conditions, making intensive use of the healthcare services and with special health and social needs. Previous studies show that CMC are also affected by the socioeconomic position (SEP) of their family. The aim of this study is to describe the pathologic patterns of CMC and their socioeconomic inequalities in order to better manage their needs, plan healthcare services accordingly, and improve the care models in place. Cross-sectional study with latent class analysis (LCA) of the CMC population under the age of 15 in Catalonia in 2016, using administrative data. LCA was used to define multimorbidity classes based on the presence/absence of 57 conditions. All individuals were assigned to a best-fit class. Each comorbidity class was described and its association with SEP tested. The Adjusted Morbidity Groups classification system (Catalan acronym GMA) was used to identify the CMC. The main outcome measures were SEP, GMA score, sex, and age distribution, in both populations (CMC and non-CMC) and in each of the classes identified. 71% of the CMC population had at least one parent with no employment or an annual income of less than €18,000. Four comorbidity classes were identified in the CMC: oncology (36.0%), neurodevelopment (13.7%), congenital and perinatal (19.8%), and respiratory (30.5%). SEP associations were: oncology OR 1.9 in boys and 2.0 in girls; neurodevelopment OR 2.3 in boys and 1.8 in girls; congenital and perinatal OR 1.7 in boys and 2.1 in girls; and respiratory OR 2.0 in boys and 2.0 in girls. Our findings show the existence of four different patterns of comorbidities in CMC and a significantly high proportion of lower SEP children in all classes. These results could benefit CMC management by creating more efficient multidisciplinary medical teams according to each comorbidity class and a holistic perspective taking into account its socioeconomic vulnerability

    Electrocardiogram Analysis Reveals Ionic Current Dysregulation Relevant for Atrial Fibrillation

    Antiarrhythmic drug choice for atrial fibrillation (AF) neglects the individual ionic current profile of the patient, even though it determines drug safety and efficacy. We hypothesize that the electrocardiogram (ECG) might contain information critical for pharmacological treatment personalization. Thus, this study aims to identify the extent of atrial ionic information embedded in the ECG, using multi-scale modeling and simulation. A dataset of 1,000 simulated ECGs was computed using a population of human-based whole-atria models with 200 individual ionic profiles and 5 different torso-atria orientations. A regression neural network was built to predict key atrial ionic conductances based on P- and Ta_a -wave biomarkers. The neural network predicted, with >80% precision, the density of seven ionic currents relevant for AF, namely, ultra-rapid (IKur_{Kur} ), rapid (IKr_{Kr} ), outward transient (Ito_{to} ), inward rectifier K+^+ (IK1_{K1} ), L-type Ca2+^{2+} (ICaL_{CaL} ), Na+^+ /K+^+ pump (INaK_{NaK} ) and fast Na+^+ (INa_{Na}) currents. These ionic densities were identified through the P- (i.e., INa_{Na}), Ta - (i.e., IK1_{K1} , INaK_{NaK}) or both waves (i.e., IKur_{Kur} , IKr_{Kr} , Ito_{to} , ICaL_{CaL}), providing a non- invasive characterization of the atrial electrophysiology. This could improve patient stratification and cardiac safety and the efficacy of AF pharmacological treatment

    Thin film oxide-ion conducting electrolyte for near room temperature applications

    Stabilized bismuth vanadate thin films are presented here as superior oxide ionic conductors, for application in solid state electrochemical devices operating near room temperature. Widely studied in the 90s in bulk form due to their unbeatable ionic conduction, this family of materials was finally discarded due to poor stability above 500 °C. Here, we however unveil the possibility of using BiVCuO at reduced temperatures in thin film-based devices, where the material keeps its unmatched conduction properties and at the same time shows good stability over a wide oxygen partial pressure range

    Examining perceived safety and park use in public open spaces: the case of Barcelona

    There is a current need for understanding existing relationships between park use and perceived safety. Six public open spaces were systematically observed for three months and sorted into three groups attending to a perceived safety questionnaire scores. Objective park use and environmental data were analyzed using polar coordinate analysis considering the perceived safety level as the focal behavior. We also considered sociodemographics, crime data, and district-level safety indicators. Sex and years living in the neighborhood influenced perceived safety scores but no association was seen with crime events. Perceived safety at the district level, neighborhood class composition, and disorder was also connected with perceived safety. Increasing perceived safety at the district level can promote physical activity and park use, especially among women, elders, young adults, and the disabled. Implications for public policy are discussed
