Chapter The Old Serbian Version of the Antiochene Recension of Samuel-Kings: Some Preliminary Issues in Textual Criticism
The article discusses several textual features of the second Church Slavonic version of 1–4 Kingdoms, which has come down to us in two manuscripts, written in Serbian Resavian orthography. The earliest copy dates from 1418 (National Research Library of Odessa, no. 6 [1/106]), while the second is from 1523–1543 (Moscow, Russian State Library, f. 87 N° 1 [1684]). The paper presents this tradition to scholars as new material for the study of the Antiochene or Lucianic recension of 1–4 Kingdoms, a text-type found in five Greek manuscripts. The analysis shows that it represents a new witness, not only to the Antiochene recension of 1–4 Kingdoms as a whole, but also to its proto-Lucianic textual stratum
It Obliges You to Do Things You Normally Wouldn't: Organizing and Consuming Private Life in the Age of Airbnb
In what ways do everyday life and private spaces become productive elements for platform organizations? Referring to a research on Airbnb (a platform-based company and current leader at the global level in the online hospitality industry) recently conducted in a touristic north-eastern Italian province, this paper critically explores to what degree and how Airbnb pervades, changes and controls the Hosts' domestic space and spare time. To do so, first we will concentrate on the elements that regulate the relationship between the user and the platform and on some of the processes and mechanisms implied by the platform architecture. Then, by describing the everyday practices of "house-management" enacted by the Hosts, we will highlight the invisible work involved in 'performing the platform'. From this point of view, it is worth noticing how, although Airbnb does not aim to create a parallel labour market, it produces 'platform workers' anyway, in that it implies the active engagement of its users in concrete activities. Airbnb is thus a perfect case to look at the ways in which platform organizations engage users in forms of production previously unknown, turning private goods and time into productive elements
Bold Headlines of Urban Eyescapes:A Computational Approach of Urban Mapping via Digital Surveying and Eye-Tracking Technologies
The sensory stimuli from the urban environment are often distinguished as subtle structures that derive from experiencing the city. The experience of the urban environment is also related to the social relationships and memories that complete the 'urban eyescapes' and the way individuals can recall them. Despite the fact that the consideration of urban sensory stimuli is part of urban design, currently the account of visual experience in urban studies is hard to be identified. This article explores ways of recording how the senses mediate one's engagement with the urban environment. This study involves an experiment in the urban environment of the Copenhagen city centre, with 20 subjects performing a walking task. The aim of the experiment is to categorize the visual 'Bold Headlined Stimuli’ (BHS) of the examined environment, using eye-tracking techniques. The analysis allows us to identify the Headlining Stimuli Process, (HSP) in the select urban environment. HSP is significantly mediated by body mobility and perceptual memories and has shown how urban stimuli influence the intelligibility and the recalling patterns of the urban characteristics. The results have yielded a 'Bold Headline list' of stimuli related to: the spatial characteristics of higher preference; the stimuli that are relevant to livability; and the spatial dimensions easier to recall. The data of BHS will be used in cross-disciplinary city analysis. In the future, these results could be useful in urban design, to provide information on how urban space affects the human activities
Variable Neighborhood Descent Matheuristic for the Drone Routing Problem with Beehives Sharing
In contemporary urban logistics, drones will become a preferred transportation mode for last-mile deliveries, as they have shown commercial potential and triple-bottom-line performance. Drones, in fact, address many challenges related to congestion and emissions and can streamline the last leg of the supply chain, while maintaining economic performance. Despite the common conviction that drones will reshape the future of deliveries, numerous hurdles prevent practical implementation of this futuristic vision. The sharing economy, referred to as a collaborative business model that foster sharing, exchanging and renting resources, could lead to operational improvements and enhance the cost control ability and the flexibility of companies using drones. For instance, the Amazon patent for drone beehives, which are fulfilment centers where drones can be restocked before flying out again for another delivery, could be established as a shared delivery systems where different freight carriers jointly deliver goods to customers. Only a few studies have addressed the problem of operating such facilities providing services to retail companies. In this paper, we formulate the problem as a deterministic location-routing model and derive its robust counterpart under the travel time uncertainty. To tackle the computational complexity of the model caused by the non-linear energy consumption rates in drone battery, we propose a tailored matheuristic combining variable neighborhood descent with a cut generation approach. The computational experiments show the efficiency of the solution approach especially compared to the Gurobi solver
3Y-TZP dip-coated with Zn-containing calcium silicate layers: development and characterization
Coating layers based on Ca3Si3O9, Ca2ZnSi2O7, and ZnSiO4 on 3Y-TZP ceramics were obtained by the dip coating process, using SiO2-CaO-P2O5-ZnO glass suspensions with Zn contents in the range of 0-20 mol%. The influence of the Zn content in the dip coating slips, the slip solid loading, and the 3Y-TZP surface porosity on the layer formation rate was studied. The Zn content of the dip coating slips as well as the slip solid loading greatly affected the slip viscosity, and consequently the liquid entrainment mechanism at the initial stage. The low dissolution rate of 20 mol% Zn-containing slips decreased the dip coating slip viscosity, whereas the lower stability of 10 mol% Zn-containing slips increased the slip viscosity. A significant increase in the initial layer thickness was produced either by using 10 mol% Zn-containing slips or by increasing the slip solid loading. The casting rate for longer immersion times was markedly accelerated by increasing the 3Y-TZP surface porosity. Sintered layers based on ZnSiO4 having the lowest thickness values were produced using the glass containing 20 mol% Zn. On the other hand, the 0 and 10 mol% Zn-containing glass produced thicker sintered layers mainly composed of Ca3Si3O9 and Ca2ZnSi2O7, respectively.Fil: Bruni, Yesica Lorena.
