«Arcade » : traitement par l'informatique d'un fonds des Archives nationales

Behandlung eines Staatsarchivbestandes durch Informatik : ARCADE. Dieser Artikel zeigt die Anwendung einer informatischen Behandlung an einem in seiner Zuzammensetzung verhältnismässig einheitlichen Bestand : stattliche Aufträge und Erwerbungen von Kunstwerken (Staatsarchiv, Unterserie F21). Gestattet die Informatik, zwei sich bei jeder Inventarabfassung widersprechende Imperative zu versöhnen : Eile bei der Ausfuhrung und Feinheit bei der Analyse ? Bei dem hier berichteten Versuch bestand die erste Arbeit in der Aufstellung der Listen, einem vom herkömmlichen Inventar nicht sehr entfernten Vorgang, mit dem Vorbehalt, dass man die Bezeichnungen des in den Kunstwerken dargestellten Motivs auszusuchen hatte. Auch da musste man noch einen nicht leicht anzupassenden «Thesaurus » der einzelnen Themen ersinnen. Aber daruber hinaus bietet das informatisierte Inventar vielfache Vorzüge : sofortige Benutzung, mögliche Veröffentlichung eines herkömmlichen Inven tars ; vor allem Vervielfachung der «Feinen Forschungs-» bereiche durch Vermischung der Befragungen. Im Kapitel der Nachteile muss man die lange Dauer der Ausfuhrung (Programmregelung, fur die Analysen benôtigte Zeit), die unumgängliche Anstellung von vielem qualifizierten Personal und den Zwang zu zahlreichen Kontrollen nennen. Vermeidet man aber die beiden Klippen : verstiegene Plane schmieden und zu viele Inventartypen einführen, so kann und soll die Informatik der Archivarsarbeit ungeheure Dienste leisten.ADP processing of an archive group in the Archives nationales : " Arcade ". The article describes the ADP processing of archive group " F21 " of the Archives nationales : commission and acquisition of works of art by the Government, a relatively homogeneous group. Does ADP permit to reconcile the two contradictory necessities of all archival finding aids, i.e. rapidity and accuracy ? The first task was to establish data cheets, an operation rathe similar to the traditional work of archival description, except for the choice of terms used to describe the works of art, which needed the creation of a special thesaurus, a long and difficult task. The advantages of such an ADP-produced finding aid are many : immediate use, possibility to publish a traditional inventory, and above all, multiplicity of possible fields of research by combining various interrogations. The inconvenients, on the other hand, are : slowness of work (preparation of the programme, individual analysis of each document), necessity of numerous and qualified manpower, numerous controls. However, when the risks of over-sizing the opération and over-multiplying the types of finding aids are avoided, ADP can and must give enormous help to the work of archivists.Tratamiento automatizado de un fondo del Archivio Nacional : «Arcade ». El articulo describe el tratamiento del fondo «F21 » del Archivo Nacional : encargos y compras de obras de arte por el Gobierno, fondo bastante homogéneo. Puede la automatizaciôn reconciliar las dos necesidades contradictorias de los instrumentos de investigacion archivistica, es decir la rapidez y la exactitud ? El primer trabajo fue la recopilaciôn de los datos en formatos normalizados, operaciôn bastante similar al trabajo tradicional de inventariacidn de archivos, excepto para la selecciôn de términos utilizados en la descripciôn de las obras de arte, que necesitô la elaboraciôn de un «thésaurus » especial, trabajo largo y dificil. Las ventajas de un tal instrumento de investigacion automatizado son muchos : utilizaciôn inmediata, posibilidad de transformarlo en un inventario tradicional, y, mas que todo, multiplicidad de los campos de investigacion gracias a la combinaciôn de varias interrogaciones. Por otra parte, los inconvenientes existen : lentitud del trabajo (preparaciôn del programa, anâlisis individual de cada uno documento), necesidad de un personal numeroso y bien calificado, numerosos contrôles. Sin embargo, cuando se evitan los riesgos de ver demasiado en grande y de multiplicar los tipos de inventarios, la informatizaciôn puede y debe prestar mucha ayuda al trabajo de los archiveros.Labat Poussin Brigitte. «Arcade » : traitement par l'informatique d'un fonds des Archives nationales.
