categories, we show that in common cases the method can be used to obtain accurate and useful predictions of parallel application performance. Our next step is to incorporate the C/C ratio method into an overall set of methods for early per- formance prediction. As we stated at the outset, we are looking for methods that can be used on partially completed programs, to aid the program design pro- cess. Because the C/C ratio is a description of the steady-state behavior of an application, we intend to adapt it to use on program fragments that are repre- sentative of entire applications. In this way we hope to predict the performance of completed applications which incorporate those program fragments
