Art’s historiography: Mario Zanini’s library

The aim of this text is a reflection on the Mario Zanini Library, donated in 1971 by the Zanini Family, along with the works of art to Musem of contemporary Art MAC from Universidade de Sao Paulo USP. We propose to find some points of intersection between the artist's plastic expression and his library, which will be exemplified in 3 books

The text presents the donation of Aracy Amaral's Latin American art library and its incorporation by MAC USP. The objective is to point out questions about the donor and her trajectory, based on the issue of cultural sustainability. This Latin American collection will place the receiving library, belonging to a university art museum, at a newlevel for research. The methodology is based on the donor's activities and her professional and academic relationship with the receiving institution. This communication deals with the university library of arts and its relationship with cultural sustainability. I will deal with a bibliographic collection belonging to the Museum of Contemporary Art MAC USP and how informational resources can be participants in the process of building cultural sustainability. The work deals with the donation of Walter Zanini's private library and its role as an informational resource insofar as it is willing to be a public resource for research. Secondly, the text also proposes the question of inserting a new bibliographic collection in a public and university space. The third question seeks to understand in which situation this resource can be the new potential for the transformation of this university and cultural institution into a reference center for research in the field of the arts. The fourth issue is that the new collection can be the link and connection in the interrelationship of sustainable development, combining socio-economic as well as organizational aspects in a process of building cultural sustainability. Fifth, there is the question of the collection as a participant in the cycle that includes the three main actions of heritage: collect, preserve and research, in a planning of actions aimed at making the bibliographic collection available. Access to the bibliographic collection will be the central action in the search for the construction of a conscious space for research focusing on the various subjects of the donated collection

Mario Zanini's art and library in MAC USP Collection: a counterpoint between collection and documentary heritage.

The text brings the library of Mario Zanini, which has been donated to MAC USP in 1971 by the family, along with 108 art works. It works on the question of identifying an intrinsic relation between the process of formation of the library and the artist's production through three books: two monographs of artists, Paul Cézanne and Vincent Van Gogh, and Lhote's book on landscape theory. It concludes with the question of imminent modernity in artistic production (especially in the landscape genre) and in the conceptual process of the library's formation
