Advanced Shipping Container Transportation System Solutions (semester?), IPRO 307: Advanced Shipping Container Transport IPRO 307 IPRO Day Presentation Sp07
The main objective of the IPRO 307 team in the Spring 2007 semester is to completely design a modern intermodal yard for the city of Gary, Indiana. It will be capable of handling the forecasted increase in container movement over the next decade while decreasing the demand placed on existing intermodal facilities in Chicago and northwest Indiana. Several intermediate goals must be met in order to accomplish this objective, which include: ï‚· Selecting the site and planning the physical layout of the Gary yard which maximizes efficiency and minimizes any negative effects on the surrounding areas, ï‚· Making recommendations concerning the appropriate number, size, and type of cranes capable of handling the predicted capacity, and ï‚· Developing a demonstration of software capable of tracking containers and trucks both within the yard and regionallyDeliverables for IPRO 307: Advanced Shipping Container Transportation System Solutions for the Spring 2007 semeste
Intermodal Container Transport System Solutions for Chicago Region (semester?), IPRO 307: Advanced Shipping Container Transport IPRO 307 Final Report F07
This IPRO will focus on the road and rail modes of transportation. Specifically, the team will investigate intermodal rail yards that specialize in transferring containers from trucks to trains, and vice versa. It will then put this knowledge to use by designing an actual intermodal rail yard for the Gary, Indiana area. The objective of this IPRO is to produce a thorough site plan for the Gary rail yard, a computer program to communicate with truck drivers, and an encompassing business plan.Deliverables for IPRO 307: Intermodal Container Transport System Solutions for Chicago Region for the Fall 2007 semeste
