Low-Frequency Acoustic Signals Propagation in Buried Pipelines

    Get PDF
The article deals with the issues concerning acoustic signals propagation in the large-diameter oil pipelines caused by mechanical action on the pipe body. Various mechanisms of signals attenuation are discussed. It is shown that the calculation of the attenuation caused only by internal energy loss, i.e, the presence of viscosity, thermal conductivity and liquid pipeline wall friction lead to low results. The results of experimental studies, carried out using the existing pipeline with a diameter of 1200 mm. are shown. It is experimentally proved that the main mechanism of signal attenuation is the energy emission into the environment. The numerical values of attenuation coefficients that are 0,14- 0.18 dB/m for the pipeline of 1200 mm in diameter, in the frequency range from 50 Hz to 500 Hz, are determined

Correction to: Two years later: Is the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic still having an impact on emergency surgery? An international cross-sectional survey among WSES members

Background: The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic is still ongoing and a major challenge for health care services worldwide. In the first WSES COVID-19 emergency surgery survey, a strong negative impact on emergency surgery (ES) had been described already early in the pandemic situation. However, the knowledge is limited about current effects of the pandemic on patient flow through emergency rooms, daily routine and decision making in ES as well as their changes over time during the last two pandemic years. This second WSES COVID-19 emergency surgery survey investigates the impact of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on ES during the course of the pandemic. Methods: A web survey had been distributed to medical specialists in ES during a four-week period from January 2022, investigating the impact of the pandemic on patients and septic diseases both requiring ES, structural problems due to the pandemic and time-to-intervention in ES routine. Results: 367 collaborators from 59 countries responded to the survey. The majority indicated that the pandemic still significantly impacts on treatment and outcome of surgical emergency patients (83.1% and 78.5%, respectively). As reasons, the collaborators reported decreased case load in ES (44.7%), but patients presenting with more prolonged and severe diseases, especially concerning perforated appendicitis (62.1%) and diverticulitis (57.5%). Otherwise, approximately 50% of the participants still observe a delay in time-to-intervention in ES compared with the situation before the pandemic. Relevant causes leading to enlarged time-to-intervention in ES during the pandemic are persistent problems with in-hospital logistics, lacks in medical staff as well as operating room and intensive care capacities during the pandemic. This leads not only to the need for triage or transferring of ES patients to other hospitals, reported by 64.0% and 48.8% of the collaborators, respectively, but also to paradigm shifts in treatment modalities to non-operative approaches reported by 67.3% of the participants, especially in uncomplicated appendicitis, cholecystitis and multiple-recurrent diverticulitis. Conclusions: The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic still significantly impacts on care and outcome of patients in ES. Well-known problems with in-hospital logistics are not sufficiently resolved by now; however, medical staff shortages and reduced capacities have been dramatically aggravated over last two pandemic years

HUMAN-MACHINE INTERACTION IN SOLVING TASKS OF THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT

    Get PDF
The paper discusses issues of human-machine interaction in solving tasks of the planning department under severe resource restrictions using information technology. The negative factors influencing specialists of the planning department in solving their tasks under the given circumstances are shown. Specific features of designing the user interface in this subject area are noted. Directions to increase the efficiency of reaction of the planning department’s specialists to change the current situation by visual and sound notification of various events are marked. Various ways to develop user interface to generate a conflict-free plan under severe resource restrictions are considered. The variants of informative presentation of operational and statistical information to stakeholders are analyzed. These issues are discussed by the example of the planning department which solves the tasks of allocation of control facilities for spacecraft (a subset of satellite range scheduling problem)

Using the method of optic detection EPR, the cation-radicals of alkanes in the low-temperature unpolar glasses. The purpose of the work: the creation of the low-temperature methods of registration of the optic detection EPR spectres and the study, with its aid, of the primary radiation-chemical processes with participation of the cation-radicals of alkanes. It has been shown, that ODEPR method allows to study the intermolecular dynamic processesin the cation-radical alkanes and ion-molecular reactions with its participation. Experimentally detected have been the anomalies in spectres of the tapped alkanes. It has been established, that the latter have been conditioned by the temperature-activated process of the relayrace recharging of the holes between the same type matrixes molecules (resonance recharging). It has been shown, that in the experiments by the charge transfer in the alkanes glasses the count of the relay-race motion of the holes is necessary. The constant of the catch reaction under watching, is being formed in the successive processes of the relay-race transfer of the hole with subsequent tunneling on the acceptor. For the first time, developed and approved have been the methods of the low-temperature (4 - 120 K) of registration of the OD EPR spectres, allowing to detect the spectres of cation-radicals of alkanes, serving as the matrixes and the additives in the alkanes matrixes with larger potential of ionization, and with its aid, the role of the resonance recharging in the holes transport in the alkane solutions has been established. The developed methods can be used for the investigation of the radiation-chemical processes in polymersAvailable from VNTIC / VNTIC - Scientific & Technical Information Centre of RussiaSIGLERURussian Federatio

An inverting substation of a multielectrode MHD-generator is considered in the paper aiming at the creation of transformation devices and systems for the loading of multielectrode MHD-generators, driven by an invertor net. As a result principles of the structural scheme construction of an inverting substation and methods of its protection have been substantiated. Methods of the complex transformation system analysis have been suggested and developed. The calculation methodology of MHD-generator electrode current summators has been elaborated. Principles of the inverting substation design have been determined. The complex of substation protection methods and devices has been developed as well as devices of the channel part electric parameter measurement. The new class of electric current transformes-summators has been created. The maximum level of emergency currents has been decreased, the efficiency has been increased, the structural scheme of the loading multi-inverting system has been simplified. Non-traditional sources of energy and transformation systems have been developedAvailable from VNTIC / VNTIC - Scientific & Technical Information Centre of RussiaSIGLERURussian Federatio
