Experimental determination of L X-ray fluorescence cross sections for elements with 45 < Z < 50 at 10 keV
Synchrotron radiation at 10 keV was used to experimentally determine the Ll, La, LbI ,LbII , LgI and LgII fluorescence cross sections for elements with 45 < Z < 50, as part of an ongoing investigation at low energies. Analysis of electronic structure and X-ray absorption and emission spectra in MgO within the FP-LAPW method
In this work we calculated MgO ab initio X-ray Absorption and Emission spectra using the Full Potential Linearized Augmented Plane Wave method within the Density Functional Theory formalism. The X-ray Absorption and Emission spectra for the K and L2;3 edges of Mg and O atoms were calculated including a core hole in order to study the electronic structure of valence and conduction bands of the system. Both kinds of spectra were compared with experimental data obtaining a very good agreement and the improvement in the spectra due to the use of Tran Blaha modified Becke-Johnson (TB-mBJ)potential is manifested. This potential describes better the insulator properties, produces a band gap that is in good agreement with the experimental value and improves the intensities and the structure of the spectra. Was interesting to find the presenceof Mg d states below the Fermi energy in the equilibrium volume of MgO. The XANES experiments were better reproduced by introducing the full core hole in the calculationsusing TB-mBJ potential while for XES the best agreement was obtained without core hole. The Bader?s topological method was employed to analyse the ionic behaviour. Using the electronic charges obtained with the Bader?s Method and the equilibrium lattice parameter, we obtained the value of the Lattice Energy and we compared it with the value obtained by the Born-Haber cycle showing a good agreement. Besides, calibrated standard samples are necessary. In this work we propose a methodology to determine natural radioactivity using simulated 纬 spectra by Monte Carlo and without the use of calibrated standard samples. We applied this methodology to determine radioactivity of K 40 isotopes from a light salt sample. Then we applied this process in soil samples and the results where compared with the values obtained by an other laboratory. Study of the characteristic parameters of the normal voices of Argentinian speakers
The voice laboratory permits to study the human voices using a method that is objective and noninvasive. In this work, we have studied the parameters of the human voice such as pitch, formant, jitter, shimmer and harmonic-noise ratio of a group of young people. Reduction of the use of polyethylene bags: Ecological management alternative in San Lorenzo, Paraguay. 2015
The present research analyzes the problem of the harmful effect of the use of polyethylene bags in the environment, with the aim of proposing an alternative of ecological management that contributes to the reduction of the use of polyethylene bags in the area of influence of a Supermarket X in the city of San Lorenzo in 2015. Therefore, the realization of this study responds to the need to present alternatives for the use of polyethylene bags in smaller quantities through the generation of incentives and greater education. For this research we opted for a qualitative and quantitative approach of descriptive cross-sectional level. For the collection of data it was used to conduct interviews and surveys both to managers of the supermarket and customers of the same. It was found in this investigation that the costs incurred for the acquisition and sale of polyethylene bags by a supermarket branch amount, on average, to Gs. 46,000,000 per month.
Also, the predisposition of the consumer to reduce their consumption of polyethylene bags can be summarized as favorable. Therefore, the present paper proposes alternatives for the use of polyethylene bags that favor merchants, customers, society and the environment
Reducci贸n de utilizaci贸n de bolsas de polietileno: Alternativa ecol贸gica de gesti贸n en San Lorenzo, Paraguay. 2015
La presente investigaci贸n analiza la problem谩tica del efecto nocivo que genera en el medioambiente la utilizaci贸n de bolsas de polietileno, con el objetivo de proponer alternativa de gesti贸n ecol贸gica que contribuya a la reducci贸n de la utilizaci贸n de bolsas de polietileno en la zona de influencia de un supermercado X en la ciudad de San Lorenzo en el 2015. Por ello, la realizaci贸n de este estudio responde a la necesidad de presentaci贸n de alternativas de uso de bolsas de polietileno en menores cantidades mediante la generaci贸n de incentivos y mayor educaci贸n. Para esta investigaci贸n se opt贸 por un enfoque cualitativo y cuantitativo de nivel descriptivo de corte transversal. Para la recolecci贸n de datos se recurri贸 a realizar entrevistas y encuestas tanto a directivos del supermercado como a clientes del mismo. Pudo constatarse en esta investigaci贸n que los costos incurridos para la adquisici贸n y expendio de bolsas de polietileno por una sucursal de supermercado ascienden en promedio a Gs. 46.000.000 por mes. Asimismo, la predisposici贸n delconsumidor a reducir su consumo de bolsas de polietileno puede resumirse como favorable. Por ello el presente trabajo propone alternativas para el uso de bolsas de polietileno que favorezcan a los comerciantes, los clientes, la sociedad y el medio ambiente

In this work we performed all electron self consistent calculations to obtain XANES spectra to be compared with experimental ones in order to study the electronic properties of these systems. The X-ray fine structure of
hexagonal and cubic GaN were studied using the FP-LAPW method with the Tran and Blaha modified Becke-Johnson exchange potential within the DFT formalism. Measurement of linear accelerator spectra, reconstructed from percentage depth dose curves by neural networks
Purpose Linear accelerator (linac) spectra, used to improve the accuracy of dose calculation and to produce a complete description of beam quality, among other aspects, are relevant in radiotherapy and linear accelerator physics. Methods In this work we apply neural networks in solving an ill-conditioned system of linear equations, to indirectly measure the linear accelerator spectra via the percentage depth dose curves. The photon beam spectra are related to radiation doses through a Fredholm integral equation. To address our problem we measured the percentage depth dose curve in water and solved a discretized Fredholm equation using artificial neural network. After analysing the typology of our physical problem we selected a MultiLayer Perceptron Neural Network and designed the most suitable neural network architecture. Results The reconstructed spectra were compared with spectra from three linacs, two of them obtained by us through simulations and the third produced by another author, achieving a concordance between 92 % and 96 %. Therefore, the spectrum of any accelerator can be quickly and easily reconstructed from measured percent depth dose curves, applying a trained artificial neural network.Fil: Torres D铆az, Jorge.
