Inclusive One Jet Production With Multiple Interactions in the Regge Limit of pQCD

framework a review is given of a pQCD approach for the computation of the
corrections to the inclusive one jet production cross section at finite number

The C(-1019)G 5-HT1A promoter polymorphism and personality traits: no evidence for significant association in alcoholic patients
The 5HT1A receptor is one of at least 14 different receptors for serotonin which has a role in moderating several brain functions and may be involved in the aetiology of several psychiatric disorders. The C(-1019)G 5-HT1A promoter polymorphism was reported to be associated with major depression, depression-related personality traits and suicidal behavior in various samples. The G(-1019) allele carriers are prone to depressive personality traits and suicidal behavior, because serotonergic neurotransmission is reduced. The aim of this study is to replicate previous findings in a sample of 185 Alcohol-dependent individuals. Personality traits were evaluated using the NEO FFI and TCI. History of suicidal behavior was assessed by a standardized semistructured interview (SSAGA). No significant differences across C(-1019)G 5-HT1A genotype groups were found for TCI temperament and character traits and for NEO FFI personality scales. No association was detected between this genetic variant and history of suicide attempts. These results neither support a role of C(-1019)G 5-HT1A promoter polymorphism in the disposition of personality traits like harm avoidance or neuroticism, nor confirm previous research reporting an involvement of the G allele in suicidal behavior in alcoholics. Significant associations, however, were detected between Babor's Type B with number of suicide attempts in history, high neuroticism and harm avoidance scores in alcoholics

Characterizing extremal digraphs for identifying codes and extremal cases of Bondy's theorem on induced subsets
An identifying code of a (di)graph is a dominating subset of the
vertices of such that all distinct vertices of have distinct
(in)neighbourhoods within . In this paper, we classify all finite digraphs
which only admit their whole vertex set in any identifying code. We also
classify all such infinite oriented graphs. Furthermore, by relating this
concept to a well known theorem of A. Bondy on set systems we classify the
extremal cases for this theorem
Minimal chordal sense of direction and circulant graphs
A sense of direction is an edge labeling on graphs that follows a globally
consistent scheme and is known to considerably reduce the complexity of several
distributed problems. In this paper, we study a particular instance of sense of
direction, called a chordal sense of direction (CSD). In special, we identify
the class of k-regular graphs that admit a CSD with exactly k labels (a minimal
CSD). We prove that connected graphs in this class are Hamiltonian and that the
class is equivalent to that of circulant graphs, presenting an efficient
(polynomial-time) way of recognizing it when the graphs' degree k is fixed
Genome-Wide Association Studies in Glioma.
Since the first reports in 2009, genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have been successful in identifying germline variants associated with glioma susceptibility. In this review, we describe a chronological history of glioma GWAS, culminating in the most recent study comprising 12,496 cases and 18,190 controls. We additionally summarize associations at the 27 glioma-risk SNPs that have been reported so far. Future efforts are likely to be principally focused on assessing association of germline-risk SNPs with particular molecular subgroups of glioma, as well as investigating the functional basis of the risk loci in tumor formation. These ongoing studies will be important to maximize the impact of research into glioma susceptibility, both in terms of insight into tumor etiology as well as opportunities for clinical translation. Inductive Construction of 2-Connected Graphs for Calculating the Virial Coefficients
In this paper we give a method for constructing systematically all simple
2-connected graphs with n vertices from the set of simple 2-connected graphs
with n-1 vertices, by means of two operations: subdivision of an edge and
addition of a vertex. The motivation of our study comes from the theory of
non-ideal gases and, more specifically, from the virial equation of state. It
is a known result of Statistical Mechanics that the coefficients in the virial
equation of state are sums over labelled 2-connected graphs. These graphs
correspond to clusters of particles. Thus, theoretically, the virial
coefficients of any order can be calculated by means of 2-connected graphs used
in the virial coefficient of the previous order. Our main result gives a method
for constructing inductively all simple 2-connected graphs, by induction on the
number of vertices. Moreover, the two operations we are using maintain the

Glycinergic Axonal Inhibition Subserves Acute Spatial Sensitivity To Sudden Increases In Sound Intensity
Locomotion generates adventitious sounds which enable detection and localization of predators and prey. Such sounds contain brisk changes or transients in amplitude. We investigated the hypothesis that ill-understood temporal specializations in binaural circuits subserve lateralization of such sound transients, based on different time of arrival at the ears (interaural time differences, ITDs). We find that Lateral Superior Olive (LSO) neurons show exquisite ITD-sensitivity, reflecting extreme precision and reliability of excitatory and inhibitory postsynaptic potentials, in contrast to Medial Superior Olive neurons, traditionally viewed as the ultimate ITD-detectors. In vivo, inhibition blocks LSO excitation over an extremely short window, which, in vitro, required synaptically evoked inhibition. Light and electron microscopy revealed inhibitory synapses on the axon initial segment as the structural basis of this observation. These results reveal a neural vetoing mechanism with extreme temporal and spatial precision and establish the LSO as the primary nucleus for binaural processing of sound transients
