Modelling of annular plates stability with functionally granded structure interacting with elastic heterogeneous subsoil.
This contribution deals with the modelling and analysis of stability problems for thin composite annular plates interacting with elastic heterogeneous subsoil. The object of analysis is an annular plate with a deterministic heterogeneous microstructure and the apparent properties smoothly varying along a radial direction. The aim of contribution is to formulate two macroscopic mathematical models describing stability of this plate. The considerations are based on a tolerance averaging technique. The general results are applied to the analysis
of some special stability problems. The obtained results of critical forces with those obtained from finite element method are compared

Prognostic value of daytime heart rate, blood pressure, their products and quotients in chronic heart failure
Background: Chronic heart failure (CHF) is an important epidemiological and therapeuthic issue with poor prognosis. The aim of the study was to estimate the prognostic value of daytime heart rate (HR), blood pressure (BP), their products and quotients in patients with CHF.
Methods: The study included 80 stable patients with CHF and reduced left ventricular ejection frac- tion (LVEF ≤ 35%). Physical examination, laboratory blood tests, electrocardiogram, chest X-ray, echocardiography, 6-minute walk test, telemetry monitoring and BP measurements were performed in all participants. We estimated mean daytime: BP, HR, their products and quotients. The follow-up period was 6 months. Major adverse cardiac events (MACE) included: death, cardiovascular death, hospitalization due to CHF exacerbation.
Results: The analysis involved all recruited patients with CHF (91% men) aged 59 ± 12 years, in New York Heart Association class 2.15 ± 0.57 and reduced LVEF (mean LVEF: 23 ± 6%). The 3-month and 6-month mortality rates were 4% and 6%, respectively. There was a significant correlation between diastolic blood pressure (DBP), all-cause mortality (p = 0.048) and CHF decompensation (p = 0.0004) after 3-month observation period. No relationship was found between HR or systolic blood pressure (SBP) and MACE. Both higher SBP × HR and DBP × HR products were related to lower risk of heart failure exacerbations during 6-month follow-up. None of the analyzed products or ratios had an impact on mortality in this study group.
Conclusions: Diastolic blood pressure, SBP × HR and DBP × HR products may be useful in sub- sequent heart failure exacerbation risk stratification. Moreover, DBP value may predict short-term mortality in patients with CHF.
Metabolic modulation in chronic heart failure
Trimetazidine, a piperazine derivate, has been used in patients with coronary artery disease for many years. It blocks metabolism of free fatty acid and promotes glucose oxidation in cardiomyocytes. There have been many reports concerning possible, favourable treatment with trimetazidine in chronic heart failure patients. Some reports suggest that addition of trimetazidine to standard heart failure treatment may improve left ventricle systolic function, exercise capacity and reduce the number of hospitalizations due to heart failure exacerbation and cardiovascular mortality. Precise determination of trimetazidine role in heart failure therapy is still not possible due to lack of prospective randomized studies. In this article we present a literature review concerning trimetazidine treatment in chronic heart failure
Si-Based Electrodes for Potentiometric Measurements of Aqueous Solutions, Journal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2009, nr 4
Three sensors for chemical and physical examination of aqueous solutions were presented in the paper. An Au potentiometric electrode, an AgCl chlorine ion sensor and a p-n junction thermometer were developed. Their layout and internal structure were explained in the light of the manufacturing process. The device characteristics were measured in conditions corresponding to normal operation of the devices. Basic electrical parameters of the developed structures, as well as their sensitivity to environmental parameter variation were estimated

Four-Fermi Effective Operators in Top-Quark Production and Decay
Effects of four-Fermi-type new interactions are studied in top-quark pair
production and their subsequent decays at future e^+e^- colliders.
Secondary-lepton-energy distributions are calculated for arbitrary longitudinal
beam polarizations. An optimal-observables procedure is applied for the
determination of new parameters.Comment: Polarized e^- plus unpolarized e^+ collisions were include
XRootD Client: A robust technology for LHC Run-3 and beyond
During the LHC era the XRootD framework has proven to be a critical component of numerous data management and software defined storage solutions (most importantly EOS, the CERN storage technology used for the LHC experiments), and as such grew into one of the most strategic storage technologies in the High Energy Physics (HEP) community. Over the last year significant developments in the area of the XRootD client have been introduced, making it even more reliable and robust, as well as easier to debug. Here, we present an overview of the new XRootD client and its main features, namely, support for erasure coding, in-flight data integrity checks, and the new record plug-in and replay tool that allow to record an I/O pattern and then replay it for debugging or benchmarking purposes
