On a class of reductions of Manakov-Santini hierarchy connected with the interpolating system
Using Lax-Sato formulation of Manakov-Santini hierarchy, we introduce a class
of reductions, such that zero order reduction of this class corresponds to dKP
hierarchy, and the first order reduction gives the hierarchy associated with
the interpolating system introduced by Dunajski. We present Lax-Sato form of
reduced hierarchy for the interpolating system and also for the reduction of
arbitrary order. Similar to dKP hierarchy, Lax-Sato equations for (Lax
fuction) due to the reduction split from Lax-Sato equations for (Orlov
function), and the reduced hierarchy for arbitrary order of reduction is
defined by Lax-Sato equations for only. Characterization of the class of
reductions in terms of the dressing data is given. We also consider a waterbag
reduction of the interpolating system hierarchy, which defines

Precursor phenomena at the magnetic ordering of the cubic helimagnet FeGe
We report on detailed magnetic measurements on the cubic helimagnet FeGe in
external magnetic fields and temperatures near the onset of long-range magnetic
order at K. Precursor phenomena display a complex succession of
temperature-driven crossovers and phase transitions in the vicinity of .
The A-phase region, present below and fields kOe, is split in
several pockets. Relying on a modified phenomenological theory for chiral
magnets, the main part of the A-phase could indicate the existence of a
Skyrmion lattice, the adjacent A pocket, however, appears to be related to
helicoids propagating in directions perpendicular to the applied field.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Chiral Skyrmionic matter in non-centrosymmetric magnets
Axisymmetric magnetic strings with a fixed sense of rotation and nanometer
sizes (chiral magnetic vortices or Skyrmions) have been predicted to exist in a
large group of non-centrosymmetric crystals more than two decades ago. Recently
these extraordinary magnetic states have been directly observed in thin layers
of cubic helimagnet (Fe,Co)Si. In this report we apply our earlier theoretical
findings to review main properties of chiral Skyrmions, to elucidate their
physical nature, and to analyse these recent experimental results on
magnetic-field-driven evolution of Skyrmions and helicoids in chiral

Generic solutions for some integrable lattice equations
We derive the expressions for -functions and generic solutions of
lattice principal chiral equations, lattice KP hierarchy and hierarchy
including lattice N-wave type equations. -function of free fermions
plays fundamental role in this context. Miwa's coordinates in our case appear

X-ray Variability and Evidence for Pulsations from the Unique Radio Pulsar/X-ray Binary Transition Object FIRST J102347.6+003841
We report on observations of the unusual neutron-star binary system FIRST
J102347.6+003841 carried out using the XMM-Newton satellite. This system
consists of a radio millisecond pulsar in an 0.198-day orbit with a ~0.2
solar-mass Roche-lobe-filling companion, and appears to have had an accretion
disk in 2001. We observe a hard power-law spectrum (\Gamma = 1.26(4)) with a
possible thermal component, and orbital variability in X-ray flux and possibly
hardness of the X-rays. We also detect probable pulsations at the pulsar period
(single-trial significance ~4.5 sigma from an 11(2)% modulation), which would
make this the first system in which both orbital and rotational X-ray
pulsations are detected. We interpret the emission as a combination of X-rays
from the pulsar itself and from a shock where material overflowing the
companion meets the pulsar wind. The similarity of this X-ray emission to that
seen from other millisecond pulsar binary systems, in particular 47 Tuc W (PSR
J0024-7204W) and PSR J1740-5340, suggests that they may also undergo disk
episodes similar to that seen in J1023 in 2001.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures, 1 table; accepted to Ap
Theory of stripe domains in magnetic shape memory alloys
The evolution of multivariant patterns in thin plates of magnetic shape
memory materials with an applied magnetic field was studied theoretically. A
geometrical domain-model is considered composed of straight stripe-like
martensite variants with constant internal magnetization (high anisotropy
limit) and magnetic domain wall orientation fixed by the twin boundaries.
Through integral transforms of the demagnetization energy, the micromagnetic
energy is cast into a form convenient for direct numerical evaluation and
analytical calculations. The equilibrium geometrical parameters of multivariant
patterns with straight and oblique twin boundaries have been derived as
functions of the applied field and the material parameters of a plate. It is
shown that the oblique multivariant states exist only in plates with
thicknesses L larger than a certain critical value L_0. In samples with L < L_0
a magnetic-field-driven transformation occurs directly between single variant
