Farmacomorbiditeitskoppeling in een Nederlands ziekenhuis: Nieuwe mogelijkheden voor farmaco-epidemiologisch onderzoek

    No full text
Pharmacoepidemiological and pharmacoeconomical studies reveal important information about the relationship between disease and drug consumption and therefore about efficacy, safety and costs of pharmacotherapeutic treatment. Our study demonstrates that we have been able to link 99.4% of in-patient medication records with the patient's diagnostic data from the Dutch National Information System on Hospital Care. Patients were admitted for an acute myocardial infarction (ICD-9M: 410) in Medisch Centrum Haaglanden-Antoniushove (Leidschendam, The Netherlands) in 1994 and 2000. Our results show that in particular medication in the treatment of an acute myocardial infarction is incompletely registered in our hospital pharmacy. After adjusting for the missing information, the use of specific cardiovascular drugs shows a positive influence on the outcome of the treatment of an acute myocardial infarction
