A roundtable on and with Boaventura de Sousa Santos, on his last book "The End of the Cognitive Empire". In the wake of critical sociology, Santos’s work combines theory and praxis. His analyses focus on the forms of resistance to the global domination of colonialism, capitalism and patriarchy. A domination supported by an «epistemology of the North» which – starting from «lazy reason» (Santos 2001) – devalues and degrades all other forms of knowledge and the social groups that produce them. Thus sociology must examine devalued forms of knowledge, antagonistic productions of meaning, counterhegemonic «epistemologies of the South» (Santos 2016) which emerge from those who suffer violence, injustice, oppression due to the joint action of the forces of global domination
