Auditor automático para nivel 3 del CMMI‐SW

    Get PDF

Adaptation of the Electric Machines Learning Process to the European Higher, Education Area

    Get PDF
In this paper the basic lines of a complete teaching methodology that has been developed to adaptthe electric machines learning process to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) arepresented. New teaching materials that are specific to Electric Machines have been created(textbooks, self-learning e-books, guidelines for achieving teamwork research, etc.). Working ingroups has been promoted, as well as problem solving and self-learning exercises, all of which areevaluated in a way that encourages students' participation. Finally, the students' learning process inthe lab has been improved by the development both of a new methodology to follow in the lab andnew workbenches with industrial machines that are easier to use and also enable the labexperiments to be automated. Finally, the first results obtained as a result of applying the proposedmethodology are presented

Characterization of the Rotor Magnetic Field in a Brushless Doubly Fed Induction Machine.

    Get PDF
The large increase in wind generation could improve the final development of wind systems with brushless doubly-fed induction machines (BDFIM) as an alternative to the doubly-fed asynchronous machines. For this reason, a detailed study of several aspects of the BDFIM design, as well as of its rotor configuration, is absolutely essential. In this paper, the authors present an alternative formulation of the BDFIM operating principle in synchronous mode. Besides the basic equation of the machine operation, it presents as main advantage the precise characterization of all the magnetic field components in a BDFIM with idealized stator windings and an idealized rotor cage. Based on this formulation, the paper provides a standard that may be used to compare the fields created by different real BDFIMs. This standard has been validated by laboratory tests

Distributed generation system with PEM fuel cell for electrical power quality improvement

    Get PDF
In this paper, a physical model for a distributed generation (DG) system with power quality improvement capability is presented. The generating system consists of a 5 kW PEM fuel cell, a natural gas reformer, hydrogen storage bottles and a bank of ultra-capacitors. Additional power quality functions are implemented with a vector-controlled electronic converter for regulating the injected power. The capabilities of the system were experimentally tested on a scaled electrical network. It is composed of different lines, built with linear inductances and resistances, and taking into account both linear and non-linear loads. The ability to improve power quality was tested by means of different voltage and frequency perturbations produced on the physical model electrical network

AVR adjustment of Synchronous Generators in Weak Grids under Faulty Conditions.

In weak grids, an important problem with voltage stability and protections coordination of power plants exists. This problem appears because all the generation groups are connected to the same bus bar. As a result, if a fault occurs in any of the generation groups, or in the bus bar that connect them, the system voltage will have large oscillations. Hence, in weak grids the correct adjustment of AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) is critical. In this work an experimental study of differents AVR adjustments against fault in weak grids is described

Design and construction of a laboratory bench system for the teaching and training of engineers on diagnostics of permanent magnet motors

    Get PDF
Permanent magnet synchronous motors PMSM are widely used in industry due to their higher torque and higher power to volume ratio. Moreover they have a better dynamic performance compared to the motors with electromagnetic excitation. Despite its robustness electrical, mechanical and magnetic faults has been described. It has led to the development of specific diagnostic systems for such machines. These systems are constantly evolving according to the literature. In this situation of increasing use of PMSM it is necessary to teach and train professionals in diagnostic techniques. This paper describes the design process of an experimental bench on which can be studied all types of faults associated with the PMSM operation. The design of a PMSM prototype, which is the most important equipment of this bench, is described in more detail

Effects of an android app on mechanical engineering students

    Get PDF
This paper describes the development and assessment of a Native Android App for learning concepts related with Mechanical Engineering. The designed App, called MaqTest, is an interactive, easy to use and portable tool. The proposed application has been programmed with Android Studio, and it is presented as an executable file accessible for smartphones and tablets. It allows the student to auto-evaluate the conceptual understandings, increasing their level of knowledge and enhancing their academic results. The app has been test with students of the 3rd course of Mechanical Engineering Degree in the subject “Mechanism and Machine Theory.” Comparative results before and after using the app are presented. The assessment results show that there has been a significant improvement

New On-Line Excitation-System Ground Fault Location Method Tested in a 106 MVA Synchronous Generator

In this paper, a novel excitation-system ground-fault location method is described and tested in a 106 MVA synchronous machine. In this unit, numerous rotor ground-fault trips took place always about an hour after the synchronization to the network. However, when the field winding insulation was checked after the trips, there was no failure. The data indicated that the faults in the rotor were caused by centrifugal forces and temperature. Unexpectedly, by applying this new method, the failure was located in a cable between the excitation transformer and the automatic voltage regulator. In addition, several intentional ground faults were performed along the field winding with different fault resistance values, in order to test the accuracy of this method to locate defects in rotor windings of large generators. Therefore, this new on-line rotor ground-fault detection algorithm is tested in high-power synchronous generators with satisfactory results

High-efficiency voltage regulator and stabilizer for outdoor lighting installations

    Get PDF
This paper presents a high performance system of regulation and stabilization of luminous flux for public street lighting installations. Its purpose is to reduce the luminous flux of the luminaries efficiently by reducing their voltage supply, resulting in the improvement of energy efficiency in the installation. The system is basically composed of electromagnetic components which provide robustness and high-performance to the device, as well as minimum maintenance requirements. However, the voltage regulation is based on the application of voltage steps. Aging studies of the luminaries have been carried out to analyze the impact of this discrete voltage regulation. A specific prototype of this voltage and stabilizer regulator have been in operation in a real outdoor lighting installation for more than one year

Propuesta de arquitectura para una plataforma telemática de Democracia Digital

    Get PDF
