CEPSim: Modelling and Simulation of Complex Event Processing Systems in Cloud Environments
The emergence of Big Data has had profound impacts on how data are stored and processed. As technologies created to process continuous streams of data with low latency, Complex Event Processing (CEP) and Stream Processing (SP) have often been related to the Big Data velocity dimension and used in this context. Many modern CEP and SP systems leverage cloud environments to provide the low latency and scalability required by Big Data applications, yet validating these systems at the required scale is a research problem per se. Cloud computing simulators have been used as a tool to facilitate reproducible and repeatable experiments in clouds. Nevertheless, existing simulators are mostly based on simple application and simulation models that are not appropriate for CEP or for SP. This article presents CEPSim, a simulator for CEP and SP systems in cloud environments. CEPSim proposes a query model based on Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) and introduces a simulation algorithm based on a novel abstraction called event sets. CEPSim is highly customizable and can be used to analyze the performance and scalability of user-defined queries and to evaluate the effects of various query processing strategies. Experimental results show that CEPSim can simulate existing systems in large Big Data scenarios with accuracy and precision
Production of women on vulnerability to HIV/aids: an integrative review of the literature
Objective: identifying strategies of care developed with children in mental distress and describing the concept of families and professionals about these care practices. Method: a qualitative study conducted in July and August 2013 with professionals and families of children enrolled in CAPSi in Campina Grande. The material was analyzed by means of the proposed of Bardin, from which emerged the following category: The care strategies used in CAPSinho (little CAPS). Result: care practices developed were: the play activities of social integration, sensory stimulation, play group, among others. Family members and professionals emphasized the positive aspects of strategies developed in the service; however, they mentioned as a barrier the absence of some professionals. Conclusion: although it has been noticed changes in the behavior of children, the development of these practices of care requires a planning and monitoring geared to the needs of children, making it essential working with a multidisciplinary team
Evaluation of access to oral health and the need for treatment in adolescents in a full-time school system
This study evaluated the self-perception of adolescents\u27 oral health and their oral conditions and the need for treatment in relation to dental caries. An epidemiological survey was carried out in the municipality of Belém, Pará, Brazil, in 2018. The sample consisted of 200 students, aged 11 to 16 years old, from a full-time public school. The data were collected through a questionnaire where their self-perception of their oral health was assessed and an intra-oral examination was carried out to assess oral health conditions in relation to dental caries, using the Dental Caries Index and need for treatment (ICDNT). The data analysis was based on the Chi-square test, and when the npq <5 restriction occurred, Fisher\u27s exact test was applied. The comparison between quantitative variables was performed using the Student\u27s t test. The average DMFT index was 3.57, with only 17% of the studied population free of caries. The carious component was the one with the greatest significance (3.14) and the need for treatment with the highest prevalence was the restoration of one face (47.5%). A percentage of 88.5% of the adolescents evaluated answered that they did not take a toothbrush to school. The studied sample had a moderate prevalence of caries compared to the parameters recommended by the WHO, but above the standard obtained in the national survey carried out in 2010. Therefore, it is necessary to implement measures aimed at improving the quality of oral health of these adolescents and a full-time system would be a ideal for implementing good habits and routines for the adolescent’s oral health
Overwork and health issues self-referred by caregivers of elderly
Objective: verifying the caregiver burden of elderly and identify health problems self-reported by caregivers of elderly. Method: this is a quantitative study, observational and cross-cutting nature, developed in the city of João Pessoa. The target population was composed of 251 caregivers of the elderly, attended in primary care. After examination of the consistency of the data collected sample consisted of 219 Data collection was conducted through interviews with caregivers in primary care services and PIER Caisi of the municipality, from April to June 2011, using the overhead of scale Burden Interview and the scale of self-reported health problems (Self reporting questionnaire). Data were transported to the SPSS program, where the statistical analysis of the data was performed. Results: it could be noted that 50,7% of the caregivers had overhead, among them, 81,8% moderate overload mild, 15,4% moderate to severe and 2,8%, intense. As for the health problems of caregivers, only one was self-reported with high frequency. Conclusion: we conclude that caregivers require implementation of care actions, in order to receive their distress and to minimize their burdens, contributing in this regard for quality of life improvements thereof
Anticonvulsant activity of bone marrow cells in electroconvulsive seizures in mice
Background: Bone marrow is an accessible source of progenitor cells, which have been investigated as treatment for neurological diseases in a number of clinical trials. Here we evaluated the potential benefit of bone marrow cells in protecting against convulsive seizures induced by maximum electroconvulsive shock (MES), a widely used model for screening of anti-epileptic drugs. Behavioral and inflammatory responses were measured after MES induction in order to verify the effects promoted by transplantation of bone marrow cells. To assess the anticonvulsant effects of bone marrow cell transplantation, we measured the frequency and duration of tonic seizure, the mortality rate, the microglial expression and the blood levels of cytokine IL-1, IL-6, IL-10 and TNF-alpha after MES induction. We hypothesized that these behavioral and inflammatory responses to a strong stimulus such as a convulsive seizure could be modified by the transplantation of bone marrow cells. Results: Bone marrow transplanted cells altered the convulsive threshold and showed anticonvulsant effect by protecting from tonic seizures. Bone marrow cells modified the microglial expression in the analyzed brain areas, increased the IL-10 and attenuate IL-6 levels. Conclusions: Bone marrow cells exert protective effects by blocking the course of electroconvulsive seizures. Additionally, electroconvulsive seizures induced acute inflammatory responses by altering the pattern of microglia expression, as well as in IL-6 and IL-10 levels. Our findings also indicated that the anticonvulsant effects of these cells can be tested with the MES model following the same paradigm used for drug testing in pharmacological screening. Studies on the inflammatory reaction in response to acute seizures in the presence of transplanted bone marrow cells might open a wide range of discussions on the mechanisms relevant to the pathophysiology of epilepsies.
