    Inherent Complexity Research on the Bullwhip Effect in Supply Chains with Two Retailers: The Impact of Three Forecasting Methods Considering Market Share

    An important phenomenon in supply chain management which is known as the bullwhip effect suggests that demand variability increases as one moves up a supply chain. This paper contrasts the bullwhip effect for a two-stage supply chain consisting of one supplier and two retailers under three forecasting methods based on the market share. We can quantify the correlation coefficient between the two retailers clearly, in consideration of market share. The two retailers both employ the order-up-to inventory policy for replenishments. The bullwhip effect is measured, respectively, under the minimum mean squared error (MMSE), moving average (MA), and exponential smoothing (ES) forecasting methods. The effect of autoregressive coefficient, lead time, and the market share on a bullwhip effect measure is investigated by using algebraic analysis and numerical simulation. And the comparison of the bullwhip effect under three forecasting methods is conducted. The conclusion suggests that different forecasting methods and various parameters lead to different bullwhip effects. Hence, the corresponding forecasting method should be chosen by the managers under different parameters in practice

    Study on Complex Advertising and Price Competition Dual-Channel Supply Chain Models Considering the Overconfidence Manufacturer

    In order to explore how the manufacturers make decisions when two manufacturers compete for local advertising investment, we examine two noncooperative models (Stackelberg and Nash game) and propose a cost sharing contract to investigate channel competition of dual-channel supply chain. The dominant power between manufacturer and retailer and the effect of channel competition strategy on price are mainly discussed. In addition, dynamic system concepts are integrated into Stackelberg game model based on bounded rational mechanism. We analyze the local stability and find that the stability level of the dual-channel supply chains depends crucially on the price adjustment speed, the level of demand uncertainty, and the risk preference. The outcome shows that, under the master-slave game model, the profits of manufacturers are greater than that under decentralized decision-making mode, and the profits of retailers under master-slave game model are less than that under decentralized decision-making mode. The profits of manufacturers and retailers in the stable region are greater than that in unstable region. Finally, the delay feedback control method is utilized and effectively controls the chaotic behavior of dual-channel supply chain model. The results have theoretical and practical significance for the game models in terms of advertising and price competition

    Laboratory Evaluation of the Relationship of Asphalt Binder and Asphalt Mastic via a Modified MSCR Test

    Asphalt mastic, which consists of an asphalt binder and a mineral filler, provides critical adhesion and viscoelasticity to an asphalt mixture. The rheological response of the asphalt mastic is mainly derived from its asphalt binder. In this study, a simple laboratory test method is proposed to estimate the relationship of asphalt binder and its mastic. Two modified binders (3.5% and 4.0% styrene–butadiene–styrene (SBS) of asphalt binder by mass) were blended with a limestone filler at six different mineral filler contents to produce mastic samples. A modified multiple stress creep-recovery (MSCR) test was conducted on both the asphalt binder and its mastic with the same testing protocols, and the stress conditions and rheological response of asphalt binder in the mastic with linear or nonlinear viscoelasticity were both investigated. The results show that the stress of the asphalt binder in its mastic decreased with increasing filler contents. However, for the linear-viscoelasticity mastic, the decrease rate of the stress began to slow down when the filler content had reached 100% or 120%. For the rheological properties of the asphalt binder in the mastic, the %R of the asphalt binder was improved by adding filler, especially for the nonlinear-viscoelasticity mastic. The asphalt binder of the linear-viscoelasticity asphalt mastic also showed a linear viscoelastic response and a good recovery property. The performance of the asphalt mastic and rheological properties of its asphalt binder were highly related to its filler content
