The most important of surface sources of water in the large city are rivers. The turbidity and flow rate of rivers is a constantly changing phenomenon in the seasons from year. During rainy period, the run off carries with it silt, clay and sand which make a severe increasing in turbidity to over 1000NTU. The increasing of turbidity causes which the water plant treatment receives the more solides. However; in order to protection of plant units must apply pretreatment processes. In this research, the effectiveness of settling process in order to removal of TSS from raw water was studied. The beginning of the work, lab-scale pilot designed which consisted of a raw water preparation container; the settling column was made of Plexiglas with 2m height, 20cm diameter and the six of sampling ports. The settling column filled with the raw water associated with sediments of river. At defined time steps (30-60-90-120-150-180 min) samples were taken out from the bottom of the column (180cm under water surface). The temperature of water was in the range of 15 to 18oC during experiments. The results showed that between the increasing of TSS removal and settling time, a direct and significant relative (p<0/01) was obtained by Pearson, s correlation coefficient. Also with increasing the depth, the removal efficiency of TSS and turbidity decreased. In the settling time of 30min, 2640mg/L of TSS concentration, the depths of 30 and 180cm, systematically, the TSS removal 92.42% and 80.47% was obtained. when the initial TSS concentration increase to 27640mg/L (the most concentration of TSS), with increasing SOR from 25m/d to 60m/d, the total removal efficiency decreased from 99.2% to 92.2%, and with the TSS of concentration equals to 2640mg/L, the rate of total removal efficiency decreased from 97.2% to 95.7%. The results showed that the rising of SOR and TSS concentration, decreased the total removal efficiency. Also, these are an opposite and significant relative (p<0/05) between the removal of TSS and initial concentration of TSS

Tripartite quantum state mapping and discontinuous entanglement transfer in a cavity QED open system

We describe the transfer of quantum information and entanglement from three flying (radiation) to three localized (atomic) qubits via cavity modes resonantly coupled to the atoms, in the presence of a common reservoir. Upon addressing the full dynamics of the resulting nine-qubit open system, we find that once the cavities are fed, fidelity and transferred entanglement are optimal, while their peak values exponentially decrease due to dissipative processes. The external radiation is then turned off and quantum correlations oscillate between atomic and cavity qubits. For a class of mixtures of W and GHZ input states we deal with a discontinuous exchange of entanglement among the subsystems, facing the still open problem of entanglement sudden death and birth in a multipartite system.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures, 2 table

    Agriculture Policy Is Health Policy.

The Farm Bill is meant to supplement and secure farm incomes, ensure a stable food supply, and support the American farm economy. Over time, however, it has evolved into a system that creates substantial health impacts, both directly and indirectly. By generating more profit for food producers and less for family farmers; by effectively subsidizing the production of lower-cost fats, sugars, and oils that intensify the health-destroying obesity epidemic; by amplifying environmentally destructive agricultural practices that impact air, water, and other resources, the Farm Bill influences the health of Americans more than is immediately apparent. In this article, we outline three major public health issues influenced by American farm policy. These are (1) rising obesity; (2) food safety; and (3) environmental health impacts, especially exposure to toxic substances and pesticides

Simulasi Coverage Wireless Sensor Network dengan Sum of Weighted Cost Function Genetic Algorithm

    Get PDF

The coherent interaction between matter and radiation - A tutorial on the Jaynes-Cummings model

The Jaynes-Cummings (JC) model is a milestone in the theory of coherent interaction between a two-level system and a single bosonic field mode. This tutorial aims to give a complete description of the model, analyzing the Hamiltonian of the system, its eigenvalues and eigestates, in order to characterize the dynamics of system and subsystems. The Rabi oscillations, together with the collapse and revival effects, are distinguishing features of the JC model and are important for applications in Quantum Information theory. The framework of cavity quantum electrodynamics (cQED) is chosen and two fundamental experiments on the coherent interaction between Rydberg atoms and a single cavity field mode are described.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figures. Office building X has an area of 52 753 m2 with a height of 120 m. As a multi-storey building, of course, office building X has a wide range of risk emergencies. This study aims to analyze the management of implementation on preparedness and emergency response in the office building X. This research is a descriptive qualitative in-depth interviews. The subject of this research consists of 5 person as the main informants and 3 person as the informant triangulation. The results showed that the management of office buildings X already have policies and commitments in terms of preparedness and emergency response. This is indicated by the emergency response procedures, the top management support such as funding and systemic policy, the emergency response organizations, the emergency communications, the emergency response infrastructure, the transportation of emergency response, the emergency response training, the emergency response simulation and evaluation of emergency response procedures. But the management of office buildings X doesn't have a program for hazard identification and risk assessment, the emergency response procedures is not contain of information about protection facilities and equipment available as well as the duties and responsibilities of emergency response organizations, there are tenants which has not obtain information related to emergency response procedures, procedure has not been set for the recovery of labor conditions or facilities that were damaged, the top management has not actively participate in simulated emergencies, emergency response organization is not consist of building occupants and building managers, unavailability of backup emergency vehicles, unavailability of stretcher and evacuation chair, assembly point which can not accommodate all the building occupants, the recapitulation process of building occupants were evacuated when simulating emergencies requires a long time. The management of office buildings X should complement existing emergency response procedures as well as reviewing other supporting facilities such as the support of top management, emergency response organizations, emergency response infrastructure, emergency response transportation and emergency response training

The minor injury causes mining workers lost the ability to perform the work from 1 day to 21 days include the weekend and holidays. The research site is a mining company that mines and processes crushed stone and construction river sand as well as gravel. This study aimed to analyze the association between knowledge, attitude, procedures' compliance, fatigue, the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and minor injury occurrences. This research used quantitative method using explanatory type with cross sectional approach. The number of this research' sample was 31 respondents taken from the production operators. Self-administered questionnaire was utilized to gather information from the respondents. The result of this research indicated that attitude, procedures compliance, and fatigue were associated with minor injury occurrences. The researcher suggests the company to modify the unsafe condition into a safer workplace and to provide the adequate PPE according to the workers' need
