Empirical Standards for Software Engineering Research
Empirical Standards are natural-language models of a scientific community's
expectations for a specific kind of study (e.g. a questionnaire survey). The
ACM SIGSOFT Paper and Peer Review Quality Initiative generated empirical
standards for research methods commonly used in software engineering. These
living documents, which should be continuously revised to reflect evolving
consensus around research best practices, will improve research quality and
make peer review more effective, reliable, transparent and fair.Comment: For the complete standards, supplements and other resources, see

Magnetic Modeling, Measurements and Sorting of the CNAO Synchrotron Dipoles and Quadrupoles
CNAO is a synchrotron accelerator presently under commissioning in Pavia. The aim of this accelerator is to treat tumors with hadrons and to perform advanced clinical and radiobiological research. The CNAO will start treating patients with protons (60250 MeV range) and carbon ions (120400 MeV/u range) in three treatment rooms with four beam lines. Future upgrade with gantries is foreseen. This paper describes the design, magnetic measurements and sorting criterion used for the sixteen synchrotron main dipoles and twentyfour quadrupoles. The magnetic measurements results are compared with magnetic simulatio
