Learning from multiple analogies: an Information Theoretic framework for predicting criminal recidivism
If recidivism is defined as rearrest within a finite period following release from prison, then the kinds of outcomes typically available to researchers include: (i) whether or not the individual was rearrested within the follow-up period; (ii) how many times the individual was rearrested; and (iii) what was the duration from release to first (or subsequent) rearrest. Since these outcomes are all different manifestations of the same underlying stochastic process, they provide multiple analogies from which to recover information about it. This paper develops a semi-parametric approach for utilizing information in these, and several other related outcomes, to predict criminal recidivism and presents preliminary findings.information theory; criminal recidivism; predictive modeling; multiple analogies
Screening of certain Ayurvedic plants extracts against E. turcicum
The use of chemicals against pathogens is environmentally dangerous, so use of natural inhibitors for disease management is needed. In this work we screen botanical extracts from ayurvedic plants for their antifungal properties against economically important plant fungal pathogen. As a test fungal pathogen, we select E. turcicum, a potent fungal pathogen responsible for Northern leaf corn blight of Maize. This fungal pathogen was challenged by the leaf extract prepared from certain Ayurvedic plants and these observations have shown a promising future in biocontrol of fungus by using such environmentally friendly
antifungal agents

We present here a rare case ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome. In the case patient came with complain of abdominal pain, distension, nausea, vomiting with known case of secondary infertility
Factors That Influence Transfer Of Hazardous Material Training: The Perception Of Selected Fire-fighter Trainees And Supervisors
This study examined the influence of factors on transfer of training and was based on the work of Broad and Newstrom (1992). For the purpose of this study the Broad and Newstrom (1992) transfer of training barriers are rephrased into positive statements. The nine transfer of training factors are: (1) reinforcement on the job; (2) little interference from immediate (work) environment; (3) supportive organizational culture; (4) trainees\u27 perception of training programs being practical; (5) trainees\u27 perception of relevant training content; (6) trainees\u27 being comfortable with change and associated effort; (7) trainer being supportive and inspiring; (8) trainees\u27 perception of training being well designed/delivered, and (9) peer support. This study explored the degree to which these factors influenced transfer of training in terms of on-the-job application. The study found supportive organizational culture to be the strongest predictor of transfer of training to on-the-job application. In addition, the degree of influence of Broad and Newstrom\u27s (1992) nine factors varied with the thirteen locations. The study also found perception gaps between fire fighter trainees and their supervisor on factors influencing transfer of training. They differed on four factors: Supportive organizational culture, Perception of training programs being practical, Trainer being supportive and inspiring, and Perception of training being well designed/delivered
Ectopic pregnancy: a comprehensive analysis of risk factors and management
Background: Ectopic pregnancy is the most life threatening emergency in pregnancy leading to maternal death. Ectopic pregnancy jeopardizes the wish of attainment of motherhood also. Increase in incidence of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), previous history of D and C and abortion, previous abdominal surgeries and use of assisted reproductive techniques are the various risk factors for ectopic pregnancy. The objective of this study was to assess the demographic profile, risk factors, clinical presentation and surgical management of ectopic pregnancy at a tertiary care centre. Methods: A prospective, longitudinal and observational study was conducted in the department of obstetrics and gynaecology, Umaid Hospital, Dr. SN Medical College, Jodhpur during a period of one year from October 2014 to September 2015. 80 cases of ectopic pregnancy admitted in the hospital were analyzed in terms of demographic profile, risk factors, clinical presentation, management, morbidity, mortality. Finally all collected material and data were analyzed statistically to draw various informative conclusions. Results: Most common age and parity affected by ectopic pregnancy were 21-30 years (63.75%) and para 1-3 (72.50%) respectively. No age and parity were immune to ectopic pregnancy. More than one clinical feature was present in most of the patients. Most common site of ectopic pregnancy was ampullary region (51.25%) of the tube. Salpingectomy was the most common surgical procedure performed (75%). Few patients had more than one complication. 29 cases had no complication. No maternal mortality occurred during this period. Around 50% women received blood transfusion. Conclusions: Ectopic pregnancy is a life-threatening condition occurring in women all over the world. As the incidence of ectopic pregnancy increases, ways and means have to be found to reduce the associated morbidity and mortality and to preserve future fertility
