The cytological studies provide more information regarding the response of a genotype to the particular mutagen and also provide chances to select desirable characters. The seeds of pigeon pea were subjected to different doses and concentrations of gamma rays and ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS). The effects of different mutagenic treatments on mitosis chromosomal behavior have been studied in both the mutagens. Different types of mitotic aberrations like stickiness, precocious movement, bridge, clumping of chromosome and laggards, etc., were observed in all the treatments. However, the gamma rays treatments proved to be more effective in inducing mitotic aberrations as compared to EMS. The frequency of laggard was high when compared to other mitotic aberrations. The reduction in mitotic index and relative deviation rate frequency were observed with increase in doses and conc. of both the mutagenic treatments and gamma rays were found to be more effective than EMS treatments

The present investigation was carried out to study mutagenic effectiveness and efficiency of gamma rays and EMS treatments in Pigeon pea (Cajanus  cajan (L.) Millsp) Var CO-7. The relative effectiveness and efficiency of the both mutagen used was assessed from the data on biological damage in M1 generation and frequency of chlorophyll and viable mutants in M2 generation. The spectrum of chlorophyll mutants such as xantha, albino, chlorina and viridis, viable mutants like tall, dwarf, early flower, early maturity, late maturity, bushy, high yield and seed mutants were observed in both the mutagenic treatments.  Among the chlorophyll mutants xantha was found more in number. The mutagenic effectiveness and efficiency were found to be higher at 20KR of gamma irradiation and 25mM of EMS. The mutation rate of gamma rays was higher in terms of effectiveness than that of EMS. More number of chlorophyll and viable mutants was induced in gamma rays treatment when compared EMS treatment

Depression and anxiety and stress are the most common disorders that can be present in breast cancer patients through their illness from diagnosis to the end of the disease and Quality of Life (QOL) is impaired through their course of diagnosis, staging, and treatments consequences which may result in physiological effect of cancer. METHODOLOGY: A Quasi experimental design with 60 breast cancer patients were nonrandomly selected by purposive sampling method and divided into experimental and control groups, 30 participants in each group. The study was conducted in Rajiv Gandhi government general hospital, Chennai and the data were collected using a Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 21 (DASS21) questionnaire. In experimental group, the researcher assessed the level of depression, anxiety, stress in the pre-test and Onco-mental health programme was given to the breast cancer patients daily for about 40-45mins for 4 weeks and the post-test assessment was done using the same questionnaire, and in control group pre-test and post-test was collected using the same tool without any intervention. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. RESULT: The study result shows that of Onco-mental health programme regarding the management of psychosocial problems among breast cancer client’s pre test score of depression (76.67%) anxiety (83.33%) stress (56.67%) and post test score of depression (56.67%) anxiety (10%) stress (13.33%), the mean difference between pre test and post test score was depression (20%) anxiety (73.33%) stress (43.34%) thus breast cancer clients got reduction in depression, anxiety and stress after administration of Onco-mental health programme at (p=0.001). CONCLUSION: The study concluded that Onco-mental health programmee was effective in reducing the level depression, anxiety, and stress among breast cancer patients during the time of admission for reduces the psychosocial problems and improving the quality of life

AWARENESS OF VTU CONSORTIUM AND CLOUD-BASED ONLINE RESOURCES IN THE VTU ENGINEERING COLLEGE LIBRARIES

Modern academic libraries should well be equipped with online resources along with print resources. Libraries are facing a transition period from print to electronic. The younger generation prefers to refer to the digital form of resources quickly. VTU Consortium is a blessing for readers, who are studying/working in VTU affiliated colleges. To meet the industrial requirements, one who updates his/her knowledge up to global and industrial standards. It can be achieved only by referring to current journals. VTU consortium has given that chance to library users to access world-class eJournals and eBooks on their campuses just by clicking the mouse. This study focuses on the usage of electronic resources subscribed through VTU consortium by students and teaching fraternity and how those resources being utilized by users. This paper gives the idea of promoting these resources at the college level

AIM OF THE STUDY: To study the long term outcome of medulloblastoma patients, who were treated in our institution during the period 2000-2010.It is a retrospective study. 1. Age and sex distribution, 2.tumor location, 3. clinical presentation, 4. treatment modalities and 5. the response to treatment. Criteria’s of inclusion, 1) biopsy proven medulloblastoma patients. 2) registered in department of radiation Oncology, RGGGH, Chennai, 3) The treatment period Jan 2000 - Dec2010. Gender distribution: Among the 75 cases reported, 42 males (56%) and 33 females (44%.). Clinical presentation: Head ache(78%) ,vomiting (73%), Seizures (9.3%), of treatment completed patients < % of patients with incomplete treatment. Defaulters: surgery is the arm -13 % In radiotherapy arm- 37.4% The chemotherapy arm -33 %. Reason of treatment default: 1. Lack of awareness about different modalities (42%) that should be incorporated. 2. False belief of poor outcome of patient in the treatment (28%). 3. Fear of toxicity. 4. Lack of adequate follow up facility. RECURRENCE: Out of total 75 patients, 7 had recurrence (3 loco regional and 4 distant recurrence). QUALITY OF LIFE ASSESSMENT: QLQ – C30 version of EORTC). Ideas about life partner - 80%, Difficulty in learning - 69%, Interpersonal relationship - 62%, Cosmetic disfigurement - 33%, Aggressive nature, irritable – 33%, Visual impairment - 25%, Sports activities - 0%. CONCLUSION: Although medulloblastoma is a tumor of high mortality, correct treatment with surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy can save the life of the patient to certain extent. Medulloblastoma special clinics must be created so that the patients are enrolled in the clinic and adequate treatment follow up is ensured

Development of Novel Encryption for Secured Data Sharing

In cloud storage the data sharing is important one. Key-aggregate cryptosystem produce constant size cipher text . That is very efficient delegation rights of decryption for any set of cipher text are possible. Any set of secret keys can be aggregated and make them as single key, which groups all the key by making it a aggregate key. This aggregate key can be sent to the others for decryption of cipher text set and remaining .Encrypted files outside the set are remains confidential. Cloud storage could provide secured data sharin

The main goal of the paper is to obtain quantitative describing the actuality of E-Commerce shopping in the case of the Retail Industry in Bangalore city. Online consumer buying behavior is not like a physical market having ability to touch, analyze, and thereafter shop the products. This study explores the effect of few variables, derived from existing literature. Those variables are perceived benefits, domain specific innovativeness, and shopping orientations, i.e., impulse- purchase orientation, brand orientation and quality orientation in E-Commerce companies (ebay, Amazon, Flipkart). For the study purpose data was collected by mean of the questionnaires. The findings indicated that domain specific innovativeness and shopping orientations have positive impact on consumers’ buying behavior towards E-Commerce. Therefore, consumers are showing an interest to online shopping because of recent development of retail industry in Bangalore city
