Effect of the sorting track profile change on the it’s occupancy quality at train humping

To increase the hump yard capacity, it is necessary to ensure high quality of sorting track occupancy. The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of changing the track profile on the quality of its occupancy. The simulation model developed for occupancy of sorting tracks based on the calculation of the speed of the cut and taking the following into consideration was used for the study: the possibility of starting the cut movement after a stop, errors in operation of the devices in charge of the speed of releasing the cut to the track, the possibility of displacement of the cars when the next cut collides with them. A real profile of the sorting facility track was analyzed as an example of it. It was determined that the profile caused strong effect on the track occupancy quality. The sagging of the profile causes an increase in the probability of collision of the cuts with exceeding the permissible speed. An increase in the up-gradient reduces the range of the run-off distance, which in turn causes an increase in the number of car back-ins. Profile correction will allow increasing the track occupancy quality

Issues of regulation of fillability of a train traffic schedule

Fillability of a schedule, down time of trains, quality of a schedule, the use of train paths, reduction of operating costs, train paths, distribution of trains. The problem of reduction of operating costs for the train traffic between technical stations is considered. The analysis of the use of a train schedule is made in this paper. The dependence of operating costs on the route speed, the quality of a schedule and its fillability is established. A solution to the problem of improving the quality of filling the schedule, expressed in the use of train paths of certain categories (direct, or having a stop on the section between the technical stations) is proposed. A method for determining the down time of trains at technical stations is proposed, depending on the fillability of a schedule. The forecast of the change in the main operating indicators and operating costs for the application of the proposed technology for the departure of trains was made

Influence of opposite elevation on the occupancy level of the tracks of sorting park

The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of the location and magnitude of opposite elevation on the occupancy level of the tracks of sorting park. The subject of the study is the effect of the magnitude and location of opposite elevation on the sorting tracks occupancy level. The object is the tracks of sorting park. For the study, a simulation model of the traffic of the cut in sorting park was used, taking into account the reverse movement, “SortPark”. On the basis of this model, it was concluded that when the target point is moved farther from the braking position, the distance traveled by the cut first increases, and then decreases. This is due to the fact that when stopping the cut on the opposite elevation, it can start to move backward. On the basis of this, it was concluded that the useful length of the sorting yard track for the first detaching limited by the point of change of gradient from grade to opposite elevation. In view of this conclusion, the formula for determining the sorting track occupancy level was improved

Use of the relative indicator for estimation of railway blocks capacity

    No full text
Capacity of railway blocks and sections is one of the most important parameters of railway transport operation. The purpose of the study is to find a universal parameter of railway blocks and sections capacity that would allow maximum use of the reserves available. This paper proposes to use “partial capacity filling factors”, which are defined as the ratio of the changed capacity factor to the existing value, as a relative indicator. The methodology of application of this indicator has been elaborated, examples of calculations have been provided. There are nomograms in the paper that allow determining the maximum number of trains that can be passed through the section taking into consideration all conditions of operation

Updating the numerical characteristics of main resistance to wagon movement when rolling down a hump

The parameters for humps are designed by the results of the roll-down of wagons with the design running performance. The numerical characteristics of the main specific resistance forces to the movement of wagons currently used in hump design are given in the Rules and Regulations for Marshalling Facilities Design of the 2003 edition. A wagon fleet in operation at the railway network has been significantly renewed, thus requiring a revision of the characteristics of the main specific resistance to wagon movement arising from their roll-down from a hump. The research subject in this paper is the process of rolling individual wagons down the hump. The purpose of the research is to determine the numerical characteristics of the main specific resistance force to the movement of wagons and to compare them with the current values. The findings showed a significant improvement in the running properties of the wagon fleet which is currently in operation and a reduction in values for the main specific resistance force compared to the existing regulations. It was found that the conditions to design humps according to the earlier regulations did not meet the actual operating conditions. The reduced values of the main specific resistance force contribute to an increase in the roll-down speeds of cuts at the designed hump sections, resulting in increased operating costs for braking and an increased risk of abnormal situations at their split-up. In fact, adjustments to the roll-down speeds of cuts are conducted by hump automation systems, including adaptive roll-down speed control systems. Thus, the task to adjust methods for designing hump parameters and their synchronisation with the changed operating conditions is relevant at the present stage of railway transport development
