Characteristics of a multilayer eddy‐current‐type ac magnetic coil with a cooling system

    Get PDF
This paper deals with the performance characteristics of a new ac high magnetic field generator based on the effect of eddy currents. We have proposed a new ac high magnetic field generator and have obtained magnetic fields up to 15 T at 60 Hz. The proposed structure consists of layers of exciting coils and conductors built in concentric circles. The eddy currents in the conductor flow close to the hole in the conductor. The magnetic flux induced by the eddy currents is concentrated within the hole, and an ac high magnetic field is produced. A procedure for estimating the optimum shape and number of layers required to increase the concentration effect, together with a design of the colling system necessary for continuous operation, is presented

New magnetic frequency tripler with delta connection suited for high power unit

    Get PDF
A magnetic frequency tripler having a new configuration is proposed. The tripler is composed of three series-connected reactor circuits connected in delta. Because a triple frequency current circulates in delta-connection and does not flow into the input line, the input current has very little distortion. Therefore, the tripler is very suited for a high power unit. This paper presents the analyses of the delta circuit as a basic circuit to clarify the characteristics of the tripler. Moreover, the relations between characteristics and circuit constants were examined. The results may be used as a basis for design

Three-phase UPS transformer using stand-by inverter of a single cores

    Get PDF
A new three-phase UPS transformer for an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is described. Its configuration is a magnetic integration of a three-phase ferroresonant transformer and a single- to three-phase converter. The three-phase commercial source takes over a load on normal condition. The three-phase output is supplied from the single-phase input port with a stand-by inverter in a failure of a commercial source. The structure and the control means become considerably simple in the new method
