LâĂ©criture de soi connaĂźt un essor important chez les nobles français du xvie siĂšcle. Les MĂ©moires sont autant un rĂ©cit de soi quâun rĂ©cit collectif. Plus quâune simple description des vertus nobiliaires individuelles (sang, valeurs et mĂ©rites de ceux qui Ă©crivent et se mettent en scĂšne), ils contribuent chez les lecteurs Ă lâĂ©dification et Ă la perpĂ©tuation dâune identitĂ© collective sociale et culturelle, propre au second ordre.
