Finite temperature phase boundary between superfluid phase and normal state is analytically derived by studying the stability of normal state in rotating bosonic optical lattice. We also prove that the oscillation behavior of critical hopping matrix directly follows the upper boundary of Hofstadter butterfly as the function of effective magnetic field.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figure

Linear-Parameter-Varying Antiwindup Compensation for Enhanced Flight Control Performance

Actuator saturation is one of the major issues of flight control in the high angle-of-attack region. This paper presents a saturation control scheme for linear parameter varyjing (LPV) systems from an antiwindup control perspective. The proposed control approach is advantageous from the implementation standpoint because it can be thought of as an augmented control algorithm to the existing control system. Moreover, the synthesis condition for an antiwindup compensator is formulated as a linear matrix inequality (LMI) optimization problem and can be solved efficiently. We have applied te LPV antiwindup controller to an F-16 longitudinal autopilot control system design and compared it with the thrust vectoring control scheme. The nonlinear simulations show that an LPV antiwindup controller improves flight quality and offers advantages over thrust vectoring in a high angle-of-attack region

NMDA receptor activation stimulates transcription-independent rapid wnt5a protein synthesis via the MAPK signaling pathway

Wnt proteins are emerging key regulators of the plasticity and functions of adult brains. However, the mechanisms by which the expression of Wnt proteins is regulated in neurons are unclear. Using cortical primary cultures, we show here that activation of NMDA receptors (NMDARs) induces rapid Wnt5a protein synthesis and secretion. This NMDAR-regulated Wnt5a synthesis does not require transcription and is a result of activity-dependent translation. We also show that NMDAR-regulated Wnt5a translation depends on MAPK signaling but not mTOR signaling. Our findings suggest that the synaptic activity of CNS neurons activates NMDARs, which in turn stimulate translation from stored Wnt5a mRNA via the MAPK signaling pathway

Aim: Hypotrichosis simplex (MIM 146520) is a rare form of monogenic hereditary alopecia. Several genes have been identified as being associated with the disease, including LPAR6, LIPH, and DSG4. LSS encoding lanosterol synthase (LSS) has been shown to cause hypotrichosis simplex, but the related mechanisms have not been elucidated to date. This study aims to find mutations in LSS from a Chinese family, among which a 21-year-old male patient and his 9-year-old sister were affected by hypotrichosis simplex. Methods: Dermoscopy and histological analysis were used to examine patients’ scalps, while exome sequencing was used to find the mutations in LSS.Results: The hair loss was only detected on the scalp of the proband and his sister, while other ectodermal structures were normal with no systemic abnormalities. Further, the exome sequencing identified a new homozygous mutation NM_002340.6 (LSS_v001):c.812T>C (p.(Ile271Thr)) in the LSS gene of the proband, which was also found in his sister. In addition, a heterozygous mutation of LSS was found in their asymptomatic parents. Finally, the possible protein structure of the mutational LSS was predicted. Conclusion: The hypotrichosis simplex reported here could be an autosomal recessive disease in this family. The mutation on LSS might reduce the enzyme activity of LSS, thus leading to the disease

Low threshold quantum dot lasers directly grown on unpatterned quasi-nominal (001) Si

We report electrically pumped, continuous-wave (cw) InAs/GaAs quantum dot (QD) lasers directly grown on quasi-nominal Si (001) substrates with offcut angle as small as 0.4°. No GaP, Ge buffer layers or substrate patterning is required. An anti-phase boundary free epitaxial GaAs film was grown by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) with a low threading dislocation density of 3×107cm2{3\times 10^{7} {\rm{cm^{-2}}}} . Room-temperature cw lasing at ∼1.3 μm has been achieved, with a minimum threshold current density of 34.6 A/cm2 per layer, a maximum operating temperature of 80 °C, and a maximum single facet output power of 52 mW. A comparison of various monolithic III-V hetero-epitaxy on Si solutions is presented. Direct growth on unpatterned quasi-nominal (001) Si may yield the best material quality at the lowest lifecycle cost

The control accuracy of distributed interferometric synthetic aperture radar satellite formation configuration maintenance is one of the key factors affecting the baseline length and thus the elevation measurement accuracy. According to the description and analysis of the relative orbital elements of formation dynamics, an unbiased four-pulse formation maintenance control method with independent in-plane and out-of-plane control is optimized and designed based on the traditional pulse control scheme. In particular, the coupling influence between relative orbital roots in the control process is compensated by combining with engineering practice, also the corresponding control strategy is formulated. The method has been applied to TH-2 system, and the correctness of the method has been proved by ground simulation and in-orbit data, so as to effectively ensure the expected distribution of interference baseline and provide guarantee for the smooth development of land elevation survey task

Purpose: To establish a new prediction model for online quality control of the percolation extraction of panaxatriol saponins (PTS), viz, ginsenoside Rg1, ginsenoside Re and notoginsenoside R1, from notoginseng by near-infrared (NIR) technology coupled with partial least squares (PLS) analysis. Methods: Ten batches of PTS (420 samples) were collected and the  constituents were determined using HPLC. The NIR spectroscopy of samples was determined using a Fourier-Transform nearinfrared spectrometer with an optical fiber transmission PbS detector. Eight sample batches were the calibration set, and two batches were the forecast set. Calibration models were established based on min-max normalization (MMN).Results: The root mean square errors of cross-validation (RMSECV) of Rg1, Re, and R1 were 0.798, 0.095, and 0.259 mg/mL, respectively. The root mean square errors of prediction (RMSEP) were 1.110, 0.496, and 0.390 mg/mL, respectively. The correlation coefficients (R2) of cross-validation were 0.9682, 0.9681, and 0.9626, respectively, while the correlation coefficients (R2) of prediction were 0.9831, 0.9198, and 0.9661,  respectively. Conclusion: The results indicate that NIR is a quick and effective tool for online quality control of PTS (ginsenoside Rg1, ginsenoside Re, and notoginsenoside R1) in the percolation extraction process. Keywords: Online monitoring, Near infrared technology, Panaxatriol  saponins, Partial least square
