Evaluation of key aggregate parameters on the properties of ordinary and high strength concretes
[EN] This paper reports the results of a study conducted to determine the influence of coarse aggregate type on the workability, compressive strength, and flexural strength of normal and high strength concretes with target 28-day compressive strengths of 30 and 60 MPa and two water/cement ratios of 0.44 and 0.27. The concretes were prepared using four types of natural coarse aggregates, namely diabase, calcareous, river gravel, and basalt, with maximum particle sizes of 12.7 and 19.1 millimeters. Silica fume was added to the high-strength concretes at a replacement ratio to Portland cement of 10% by mass. The results showed that among all aggregates, basaltic aggregate with a maximum particle size of 12.7 millimeters produced concrete with the highest compressive and flexural strength, followed by limestone and river aggregate, indicating that particle size, surface texture, structure and mineralogical composition play a dominant role in the behavior of concretes, especially high strength concretes. Normal strength concretes showed similar compressive strengths, while the concrete containing limestone gave slightly higher strength. These results show that for a given water/cementitious material ratio, the influence of the type of coarse aggregate on the compressive strength of the concrete is more important for high strength concrete than for normal strength concrete.Salas-Montoya, A.; Mira-Rada, BE.
Intellectual property management, knowledge management are disciplines that have been treated independently, both in academia and in the organizational field. Through the legal discipline of intellectual property, the former manages intangible assets that are eligible for protection (copyright, patents and trademarks, among others) leaving aside those assets that cannot be realized in any way. The latter is devoted to the processes of knowledge management in general, namely, the knowledge of the processes, people, documents, etc. without any special status for protected knowledge. This article is the result of an exploratory research that has focused on the description of the design of a conceptual framework that integrates knowledge management processes and intellectual property processes, addressing both protected and unprotected knowledge. This research was carried out in two phases: a relationship with the documentary revision and the other with the definition and design of the proposed framework.
VERITAS long term monitoring of Gamma-Ray emission from the BL Lacertae object
BL Lacertae is the prototype of the blazar subclass known as BL Lac type
objects. BL Lacertae object itself is a low-frequency-peaked BL Lac(LBL). Very
high energy (VHE) gamma ray emission from this source was discovered in 2005 by
MAGIC observatory while the source was at a flaring state. Since then, VHE
gamma rays from this source has been detected several times. However, all of
those times the source was in a high activity state. Former studies suggest
several non-thermal zones emitting in gamma-rays, then gamma-ray flare should
be composed of a convolution. Observing the BL Lacertae object at quiescent
states and active states is the key to disentangle these two components.
VERITAS is monitoring the BL Lacertae object since 2011. The archival data set
includes observations during flaring and quiescent states. This presentation
reports on the preliminary results of the VERITAS observation between January
2013 - December 2015, and simultaneous multiwavelength observations

The work focuses on the study and analyze of the parameters, behaviors, acts and process that conform the Culture of hardware store chain “El Fogón Eléctrico”. To know which organizational structure emerge from culture and because of that known if is the right one to the expansion and the business improvement.
To have a correct and effective understanding to the problem we will study, we will begin describing how was the started of the company, its founders and the way how they created a small busyness at a hardware store chain, that had been up for more than 40 years; but because of the non preparation and fear to affront new challenges, they could take the risk to stay back at similar companies in hardware guild. It is important to identify the company’s work environment, and because on its characteristics, behaviors and habits detected on it, we would make proposals shown in this degree work.
In order to get this work, is to provide tools to improve motivation and sense of belonging among employees from hardware store chain “El Fogón Eléctrico”.
Currently Hardware store chain 'El Fogón Eléctrico” is stalled in its growth, and there is an important responsibility in its directors, which should be trained in all processes, products or services the company also manages to have a better management of the human factor of it, directing their activities to maintain or stimulate favorable results for both the owners and the employees working there.
Through the diagnosis, we found that the company does not have defined organizational processes, competent human resources and committed to the company and also found that owners are completely lack of management skills to optimize the administrative and managerial staff.
For this reasons, an environment analysis was performed with the theoretical foundations of motivation, which ultimately led to an approach to improvement. It is hoped that through this work, Hardware store chain 'El Fogon Electrico” implement an open organizational culture, flexible, so they can have tools to adapt to the environment, and both provide a stimulus to their employees in order to stay in the business environment and even more, have a bigger power in the hardware guild
The Relationship Between Heart Rate Variability and Electroencephalography Functional Connectivity Variability Is Associated With Cognitive Flexibility
[EN] The neurovisceral integration model proposes a neuronal network that is related to heart rate activity and cognitive performance. The aim of this study was to determine whether heart rate variability (HRV) and variability in electroencephalographic (EEG) functional connectivity in the resting state are related to cognitive flexibility. Thirty-eight right-handed students completed the CAMBIOS test, and their heart and EEG activity was recorded during 6 min in the resting state with their eyes open. We calculated correlations, partial correlations and multiple linear regressions among HRV indices, functional brain connectivity variability and CAMBIOS scores. Furthermore, the sample was divided into groups according to CAMBIOS performance, and one-way ANOVA was applied to evaluate group differences. Our results show direct and inverse correlations among cognitive flexibility, connectivity (positive and negative task networks) and heartbeat variability. Partial correlations and multiple linear regressions suggest that the relation between HRV and CAMBIOS performance is mediated by neuronal oscillations. ANOVA confirms that HRV and variability in functional brain connectivity is related to cognitive performance. In conclusion, the levels of brain signal variability might predict cognitive flexibility in a cognitive task, while HRV might predict cognitive flexibility only when it is mediated by neuronal oscillations. This work was supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (PSI2014-57231-R).
