In 1993 again, the Bavarian State Agency for Environmental protection had a broad range of tasks to fulfill. They form the subject of the 29 contributions. Described is not only the monitoring of radioactive and non-radioactive environmental pollutants but also the extension of the nuisance measuring grid. The cooperation with Russia in the southern Ural regarding the in-vivo determination of strontium 90 and caesium 137 in exposed persons is dealt with. The section 'reports from LfU' covers also projects in the areas of nature conservation and care of the landscape. (DG)Das bayerische LfU hatte auch im Jahr 1993 umfangreiche Aufgaben zu erfuellen. Die 29 Berichte geben hierueber einen Ueberblick, wobei neben der Erfahrung radioaktiver und nichtradioaktiver Umweltschadstoffe auch der Ausbau des Immissionsmessnetzes beschrieben wird. Auf die Zusammenarbeit mit Russland im Suedural in Bezug der In-vivo-Bestimmung von Strontium 90 und Caesium 137 an exponierten Personen wird eingegangen. Die Mitteilungen aus dem LfU umfassen auch Projekte auf dem Gebiet des Naturschutzes und der Landschaftspflege. Lufthygienischer Jahresbericht 1996

The German Federal Emission Control Act (BImSchG) for protection against the harmful effects of air pollution, noise, vibrations and similar processes defines the legal instruments available to provide for air pollution monitoring and control. According to the legal provisions, responsibility for air pollution monitoring lies with the competent Land authorities, and monitoring activities are defined in terms of territory (areas subject to monitoring) and time periods as well as specific tasks for pollution measurement. The areas subject to monitoring are those with detected or expected air pollution very likely to cause harmful effects on the environment due to (1) frequency and prolongation of events, (2) pollutant concentrations, and (3) hazards emanating from synergistic action. Lufthygienischer Jahresbericht 1993

In dem vorliegenden Jahresbericht sind die im Rahmen einer kontinuierlichen lufthygienischen Ueberwachung ermittelten Messdaten des Bayerischen Landesamtes fuer Umweltschutz veroeffentlicht. Gemessen wurden die Schadstoffe Kohlenmonoxid, Schwefeldioxid, Schwefelwasserstoff, Stickstoffmonoxid, Stickstoffdioxd, Ozon und Schwebstaub in der Luft. Des weitern wird zum Vergleich der zeitliche Verlauf der Witterung dargestellt. Es wurden durch immissionsoekologische Untersuchungen mit Hilfe von Regenwasseruntersuchungen und Bioindikatoren die raeumliche Verteilung umweltgefaehrdender Stoffe (Schwefel, Stickstoff, Schwermetalle) und die Ozonwirkung auf Pflanzen untersucht. Es werden verschiedene Arten von Bioindikatoren vorgestellt. (SR)The present annual report contains the data collected in the course of the continuous air pollution monitoring conducted by the Bayerische Landesamt fuer Umweltschutz (Environment Protection Agency of the Land of Bavaria). The monitored pollutants are carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, nitrogen monoxide and dioxide, ozone, and air-borne dust. The report also gives a chronology of the weather for comparison pruposes. Deposition studies were performed using rainwater analysis and bioindicators in order to determine the geographical distribution of environementally harmful substances (sulphur, nitrogen, heavy metals) and ozone impact on plants.
