    Suggested Policies for Accepting PhD Students at the University of Jordan to Align Its Educational Outcomes with the Needs of the Labor Market and to Improve Its Position in the World Universities Rankings According to the Experience of Canadian Universit

    This study aimed to develop proposed policies for the acceptance of doctoral students at the University of Jordan to align its educational outcomes with the needs of the labor market and to improve their positions in the World Universities Rankings according to the experience of Canadian universities for the academic year 2019/2020, To accomplish the objectives of the study, the researchers used the methodology, the qualitative, quantitative, evolutionary survey research and Synthetic-Analytic Approach.  A study tool has been developed in the light of the methodology, two study tools were used, the questionnaire and the interview with a sample of (20) academic leaders, and its validity and reliability were assured by scientific methods. -        The fairness of the procedures followed by the Faculty of Graduate Studies in attracting doctoral students, so that the criteria and conditions for admission are applied based on the principle of equality and equal opportunities in the recruitment procedures. -        The current admission policy for graduate students at the University of Jordan, specifically PhD, does not keep pace with rapid global changes, and is ineffective and appropriate to contribute to sustainable development. -        The current policy aims to increase revenues as a result of increasing the numbers of those admitted to graduate studies, and therefore it focuses on quantity, not Quality. -        Lack of understanding and awareness of the heads of academic departments in choosing the appropriate admission policy to attract distinguished students for the doctoral programs that are offered by their departments. Based on the results of the study, the researchers developed admission policies for doctoral students at the University of Jordan and made sure that they could be applied by presenting them to a committee of experts. This study has come out with a set of recommendations, including: The researchers recommend the need to apply the policies reached by this study, and the necessity of introducing academic department heads and assistant deans of faculties to the policies and procedures adopted by the Faculty of Graduate Studies to attract doctoral students at the University of Jordan in order to be fully aware and able to define criteria and the appropriate conditions for choosing an effective admission policy to attract distinguished students for the specializations of doctoral programs offered by their departments, which would improve educational outcomes and scientific research.     The Relationship Between Psychological Stress and Self-efficacy Among the Educational Supervisors in Karak

    The present study aimed at exploring the relationship between psychological stress and self-efficacy among the educational supervisors in Karak, Jordan from their own perspective. To meet the study’s goals, a questionnaire was developed. It consists from thirty items. The validity and reliability of the study’s instrument were checked. The population consists from 120 educational supervisors in Karak, Jordan. The sample consists from all the members of the population. Those supervisors were selected purposively. Questionnaire forms were distributed to the sample members. 115 questionnaire forms only were retrieved. All of the retrieved forms are considered valid for statistical analysis. Thus, the response rate was 95.8%. The researchers used several statistical methods. For instance, arithmetic means, standard deviations and the values of Pearson correlation coefficient were calculated. In addition, the values of Cronbach Alpha coefficient were calculated and the multiple analysis of variance (MANOVA) was conducted by the researchers. It was found that the respondents’ psychological stress level is moderate. It was also found that the respondents’ self-efficacy level is moderate. It was found that there is a statistically significant relationship –at the statistical significance level of a ≤0.05- between psychological stress and self-efficacy among the educational supervisors in Karak, Jordan.  In the light of the aforementioned results, the researchers suggested several recommendations. For instance, the researchers recommend developing strategies by the Jordanian Ministry of Education for reducing the psychological stress levels of educational supervisors at Karak.  That should be done because psychological stress can negatively affect the educational supervisors’ work performance and capacity to do the required work tasks.     The Extent of Practicing Crisis Management by Jordanian Secondary School Principals in the Light of the Contemporary Educational Challenges

    The present study aimed to explore the extent of practicing crisis management by Jordanian secondary school principals in the light of the contemporary educational challenges. The study’s population consists from the principals and teachers who at Jordanian secondary schools. The sample consists from 1000 principals and teachers who work at Amman. To meet the study’s goals, a descriptive approach was adopted.  It was found that the extent of practicing crisis management by Jordanian secondary school principals is moderate in the light of the contemporary educational challenges. It was found that practicing crisis management by Jordanian secondary school principals in the light of the contemporary educational challenges is highly significant. Therefore, it’s necessary to identify the contemporary educational challenges and the crisis derived from such challenges. The researchers suggested several recommendations. For instance, they recommend activating the role of crisis management in the light of the contemporary educational challenges.     The Extent of Implementing the Educational Policies That Are Based on Modern Trends for Improving Technical Education in Jordanian Public Universities from the Perspective of Academic Leaders

    The present study aimed to explore the extent of implementing the educational policies that are based on modern trends for improving technical education in Jordanian public universities from the perspective of academic leaders. A descriptive developmental approach was adopted. The researchers used a questionnaire for collecting data. This questionnaire sheds a light on two areas. The researchers measured the reliability and validity of the questionnaire. The population involves all the academic leaders who were working in Jordanian public universities during the academic year (2019/2020). The stratified random sampling method was used to select a sample. The sample consists of 709 academic leaders. It was found that the extent of implementing the educational policies that are based on modern trends for improving technical education in Jordanian public universities is moderate from the perspective of academic leaders in two areas. These areas are: (educational policies and technical education). It was found that there isn’t any statistically significant difference –at the statistical significance level of (a=0.05)- between the respondents’ attitudes which can be attributed to job title or year of experience. It was found that there is a statistically significant difference –at the statistical significance level of (a=0.05)- between the respondents’ attitudes which can be attributed to university. The latter difference is for the favor of the ones who work in the universities located in the Central Province.     The Effective Role of Jordanian Public Universities as Productive Institutions from the Academic Leaders Perspective

    The present study aimed to explore the effective role of Jordanian public universities as productive institutions from the perspective of academic leaders. A questionnaire was used and a descriptive approach was adopted. 323 questionnaire forms were distributed to academic leaders. Those leaders were selected from three Jordanian public universities; (the University of Jordan, Yarmouk University, and Mu’tah University). The present study aimed to identify whether there is any statistically significant difference between the respondents’ attitudes which can be attributed to (their leadership position, or faculty or the university they graduated from). 287 questionnaire forms were retrieved. The stratified random sampling method was used. It was found that the Jordanian public universities play a very effective role as productive universities from the perspective of the academic leaders.  That’s because the overall mean is 3.96. The overall standard deviation is 0.18.  It was found that there isn’t any statistically significant difference between the respondents’ attitudes.     تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تقصي المعوقات التي تقف في وجه البحث العلمي في جامعة مؤتة من وجية نظر أعضاء هيئة التدريس، وكذلك إلى تعرف سبل الارتقاء به من وجهة نظرهم أيضا، ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة تم توزيع أداتيها على مجتمع الدراسة أجابت منه عينة مكونة من (154) عضو هيئة تدرس ممن كانوا على رأس عملهم خلال الفصل الثاني من العام الدراسي 2004/2005‏م. وقد تكونت أداتا الدراسة من (60) فقرة بمعدل ثلاثين فقرة لكل منهما، وقد تم استخراج المتوسطات الحسابية والانحرافات المعيارية والرتب، واختبار ت (t-test‏) للإجابة عن أسئلة الدراسة. ‏بينت نتائج الدراسة أن هناك عددا من المعوقات العامة التي تحول دون تقدم البحث العلمي في جامعة مؤتة، كعدم ربط البحث العلمي بالمؤسسات الإنتاجية، وعدم تطبيق صناع القرار لنتائج البحوث، وفيما يتعنق بسبل الارتقاء بالبحث العلمي في الجامعة وافق أعضاء هيئة التدريس على معظم المقترحات الواردة في أداة الدراسة وبدرجات عالية، كما بينت النتائج أن هنالك فروقا بين الكليات العلمية والكليات الإنسانية فيما يتعلق بالمعوقات ولصالح الأخيرة. وفي ضوء نتائج الدراسة تقدم الباحث ببعض التوصيات منها: - ربط البحث العلمي في الجامعة باحتياجات المؤسسات الإنتاجية. - توفير مستلزمات البحث العلمي.- التركيز على نوعية البحوث في الترقيات الأكاديمية.- ورصد موازنة كافية للبحث العلمي.The aim of this study is to identify the major obstacles which hinder the scientific research in Mu ta university. In addition, the study aimed at specifying the effective ways Which could upgrade the forementioned scientific research. In order to achieve the goal of the study, two questionnaires were distributed to all second term 2004- 2005 faculty members: The questionnaires consisted of (60) itens, (30) items each. One questionnaire was related· to the obstacles, and the other to the upgrading suggestions. (154) faculty members responded to these questionnaires. The means, standard deviations were concluded, and t-test was used. The results of the study showed that there were major obstacles such as the weak link between scientific research and the society productive foundations, and the reluctance of decision makers in applying the research fmdings. The results alsd showed that there are statistical differences between the scientific colleges and the human ones to the favor of the latest. Besides, the respondents agreed upon the upgrading suggestions cited on the relevant questionnaire. In the light of the study findings the researcher proposed some recommendations, most important of which are: • Linking the scientific research at Mu'ta University with the productive foundations' needs. • Providing the requirements of the scientific research. • Focusing on the quality ofresarch in the academic ranks. • Allocating enough budget for the scientific research

    Abstract: The study aimed to propose educational mechanisms to activate the administrative incentives in public secondary schools in Jordan based on models of effectiveness. The descriptive developmental analytical methodology was used and the questionnaire as a tool for the study was verified by the method of validity of the referees and its reliability was verified using the method of testing and retesting, and Cronbach Alpha equation. The study population consisted of all principals and teachers of public secondary schools in Jordan, (1227) principals, and (17480) teachers. The sample of the study consisted of (289) principals, and (867) teachers, who were selected by a random cluster method, for the academic year 2018/2019.The study finding showed that the reality of the practice of public secondary school principals in Jordan for administrative incentives from the point of view of the principals and their teachers was medium. The domains were ranked in descending order as follows: teacher empowerment, achieving objectives in unexpected ways, realism and firmness, achieving a sustainable impact. The study reached a set of educational mechanisms to activate the administrative incentives in public secondary schools in Jordan based on models of effectiveness which recommended implementation of them. ملخص: هدفت الدراسة اقتراح آليات تربوية لتفعيل التحفيز الإداري في المدارس الثانوية العامّة في الأردن وفقاً لنماذج الفاعلية, وتمّ استخدام المنهج الوصفي التحليلي التطويري, والاستبانة كأداة للدراسة, التي تمّ التأكد من صدقها بطريقة صدق المحكمين, وتمّ التحقّق من ثباتها باستخدام طريقة الاختبار وإعادة الاختبار, ومعادلة كرونباخ ألفا, وتكوّن مجتمع الدراسة من جميع المديرين والمديرات والمعلمين والمعلمات في المدارس الثانوية العامّة في الأردن, والبالغ عددهم (1227) مديراً ومديرة, و (17480) معلماً ومعلمة, وتكوّنت عيّنة الدراسة من (289) مديراً ومديرة, (867) معلماً ومعلمة, تمّ اختيارهم بالطريقة العنقودية العشوائيّة, للعام الدراسي 2018/2019. وأظهرت النتائج أنّ واقع ممارسة مديري المدارس الثانوية العامّة في الأردن للتحفيز الإداري من وجهة نظر مديري هذه المدارس ومعلميها كانت متوسطة, وجاءت المجالات مرتبة تنازلياً كالآتي: تمكين المعلّمين, تحقيق الأهداف بطرق غير متوقعة, الواقعية والحزم, تحقيق أثر مُستدام, توزيع السلطة. وتوصلت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من الآليات التربوية لتفعيل التحفيز الإداري في المدارس الثانوية العامّة في الأردن وفقاً لنماذج الفاعلية, والتي أوصت بتطبيقها

    Abstract: The study aimed at finding out the degree of quality of the academic performance of faculty members in private universities in Jordan from faculty members’ point of view. The descriptive correlational methodology was used. the study sample consisted of (695) faculty members, of these (548) were males and (147) were females for the academic year 2017/2018. To achieve the goal of the study, the study tool was developed. The overall assessment of the degree of quality of academic performance of the faculty members in private universities in Jordan was high from the viewpoint of faculty members. There were no difference between the means in the total score in the quality of academic performance due to sex and faculty variables and to the higher academic rank variable (professor). ملخص: هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى درجة جودة الأداء الأكاديمي لأعضاء هيئة التدريس في الجامعات الخاصة في الأردن من وجهة نظر أعضاء هيئة التدريس وقد تم استخدام المنهج الوصفي الارتباطي. بلغت عينة الدراسة (695) عضو هيئة تدريس, منهم (548) ذكور, و(147) إناث لعام 2017/2018م. ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة تم تطوير أداة الدراسة وأن التقدير الكلي لدرجة جودة الأداء الأكاديمي لأعضاء هيئة التدريس في الجامعات الخاصة في الأردن من وجهة نظر أعضاء هيئة التدريس جاء بدرجة مرتفعة, وعدم وجود فروق بين المتوسطات الحسابية في الدرجة الكلية في مستوى جودة الأداء الأكاديمي تعزى لمتغيرات (الجنس, والكلية), ولمتغير الرتبة الأكاديمية الأعلى (أستاذ)

    Abstract: This study aimed at identifying the reality of institutional effectiveness at the Jordanian public universities from the point of view of the faculty members. The study used the descriptive methodology and developed a questionnaire consisting of (24) items. The validity of the tool was verified The sample of the study consisted of all university faculty members (400) ,the sample were selected in a simple random method.The study results showed the reality of institutional efficiency at the Jordanian public universities from the point of view of the teaching staff members was medium,The results showed significant differences at the level of significance (α= 0.05) in the estimates of the sample members of the study of the reality of institutional effectiveness at the Jordanian public universities from the point of view of the faculty members due to sex variable and were in favor of males. And in college type in favor of scientific colleges, the study recommended giving attention to the issue of institutional effectiveness by the heads of universities and academic leaders, and the need for universities to adopt effective institutional policies that contribute to university advancement and enhance their institutional efficiency. ملخص: هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تعرف واقع الفاعلية المؤسسية في الجامعات الأردنية الحكومية من وجهة نظر أعضاء الهيئة التدريسية فيها، استخدمت الدراسة المنهج المسحي الوصفي، وطورت استبانة مؤلفة من (24) فقرة، وتم التحقق من صدقها وثباتها، وتكونت عينة الدراسة من أعضاء هيئة التدريس في الجامعات الأردنية الحكومية ممثلة بالجامعة الأردنية، وجامعة اليرموك، وجامعة مؤتة، والبالغ عددهم (400) عضو هيئة تدريس اختيروا بالطريقة العشوائية البسيطة وخلصت الدراسة الى أن واقع الفاعلية المؤسسية في الجامعات الأردنية الحكومية من وجهة نظر أعضاء الهيئة التدريسية فيها جاء بدرجة متوسطة ،وأظهرت النتائج وجود فروق ذات دلالة احصائية في تقديرات أفراد عينة الدراسة لواقع الفاعلية المؤسسية في الجامعات الأردنية الحكومية تعزى لمتغير الجنس، وكانت لصالح الذكور، ووجدت فروق ذات دلالة احصائية لنوع الكلية وكانت لصالح الكليات العلمية.وأوصت الدراسة بإيلاء الاهتمام بموضوع الفاعلية المؤسسية من قبل رؤوساء الجامعات والقادة الأكاديميين، وضرورة تبني الجامعات سياسات مؤسسية فاعلة تسهم في الارتقاء تعزيز الفاعلية المؤسسية لديها

    Abstract: The study aimed to detect the degree of availability of investment regulatory trends among academic leaders at the official Jordanian universities. The study sample was chosen in the stratified random method, where 323 questionnaires were distributed to the academic leaders on top of their work at the following official Jordanian universities: (University of Jordan from the central region, Yarmouk University from the Northern region, Mu’tah University from the south region). The number of the questionnaires retrieved was (287) during the summer semester of the 2017/2018 academic year and the first semester of the school year 2018/2019. The results of the study showed that the estimates about the degree of availability of investment regulatory trends came at a moderate degree from the viewpoint of academic leaders at the official Jordanian universities in general. The overall estimates were on average arithmetic (3.58) and standard deviation (0.51) in three areas: academic programs, scientific research, activities and projects. In light of the results of the study, the study recommended the adoption of a policy of rationalization in spending on important and priority programs, as well as creating flexible regulations and laws that encourage private companies and investors to invest in the university, and inviting engineering colleges to cooperate with training institutions to train students, after graduation. ملخص: هدفت الدراسة للكشف عن درجة توافر الاتجاهات التنظيمية الاستثمارية لدى القادة الأكاديميين في الجامعات الأردنية الرسمية. وقد تم اختيار عينة الدراسة بالطريقة الطبقية العشوائية, إذ تم توزيع (323) استبانة على القادة الأكاديميين القائمين على رأس عملهم في الجامعات الأردنية الرسمية الآتية: (الجامعة الأردنية من إقليم الوسط, وجامعة اليرموك من إقليم الشمال, وجامعة مؤتة من إقليم الجنوب). عدد الاستبانات التي تم استرجاعها (287) استبانة خلال الفصل الصيفي من العام الدراسي 2017/2018 والفصل الأول من العام الدراسي 2018/2019. بيّنت أهم نتائج الدراسة – أن تقديرات درجة توافر الاتجاهات التنظيمية الاستثمارية قد جاءَت بدرجة متوسطة من وجهة نظر القادة الأكاديميين في الجامعات الأردنية الرسمية بصورة عامة, إذ كانت التقديرات الكليّة للمتوسط الحسابي (3.58) والانحراف المعياري (0.51) على ثلاثة مجالات هي: البرامج الأكاديمية, والبحث العلمي, والأنشطة والمشروعات. وفي ضوء نتائج الدراسة أوصت الدراسة بتبني سياسة الترشيد في الإنفاق على البرامج المهمة وذات الأولوية, وكذلك إيجاد أنظمة وقوانين مرنة تشجع الشركات الخاصة والمستثمرين للاستثمار داخل الجامعة, ودعوة كليات الهندسة للتعاون مع مؤسسات التدريب لتدريب الطلبة ما بعد التخرج
